testing out some flash gels
https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8700/1...5a9bc65a_c.jpgDrive Test by siningy, on Flickr |
That looks fantastic. What is flash gels?
|
Has anyone (rich) or Bandai tried to setup a diorama of Drive's episode one finisher?
Need a trideron, blur effects from photoshop and a few Drives in mid-kick poses I am happy to do it if people send me money to buy the toys |

Flash Gels are colored lenses that go over the flash to give it color. This can help correct color balancing issues caused by lighting, making for a more natural scene, and giving the subject some pop as a result. Alternatively, it can make them look very unusual, or give a colored BG, depending on the combinations used in the setting. |

lighting and background are kinda boring
nice idea if someone could expand on it and make a poster with some hi-res images with proper photography, it would be pretty sick |

No offense to anyone that uses photoshop and stuff, but sometimes I just like seeing natural images. It is why I think digital art will never be superior to hand drawn out. |

I know I'm the last person here to get Drive, but at least I can test out my new camera:

Nice.
I still don't think Drive is very Kamen Rider-y, but he is visually striking. |

Less than 30% left on the camera battery so I had to be efficient:

Well, the journey to complete Fourze continues. Bought yesterday, I added KR Fourze Elek States. Had a few niggles out of box, but overall a nice mold. |
You know, the lack of hand didn't even bother me until I realized he doesn't have open fists.

What's an open fist?
I mean, doesn't 'fist' imply closed? |

It does seem like a dirty, sneaky trick by Bandai to put those hands and the sword with Type Wild. I kinda don't care cuz I'm probably going to get Type Wild, but for those that didn't want him, they're kinda being screwed. |
Am I the only one who thinks this will lead to a re-release of Drive Type Speed in a couple of years that includes gripping hands and both Handle-Ken and the Door-Ju? Plus a tire or two? SHF Kamen Rider Drive: Fast and Furious-Edition?
Because I totally see that happening. And this will be the figure I'll buy, since I only care for Type Speed but want the sword and the gun with it. |
There have been very few cases where a figure has been changed/updated upon a future release. Excluding renewals, the only one I know of off the top of my head is Skull, the Crystal version got a new head and paint job. But that is also technically a different version of the character.
I don't see Bandai making a new bubble for Drive with the missing accessories when they were sold with other figures. They're trying to get you to buy figures you might otherwise not, that's why they split them up in the first place. |

I really need to get a better camera. This phone camera just isn't cutting it anymore. |

Pretty much all recent phone cameras have pretty excellent image quality. A big factor when people often talk about poor image quality isn't so much the camera, but the lighting. Also don't zoom in with a phone camera, it's just digitally cropping while making it a lot harder to stabilize. Just crop the photo afterwards. A common cause of blurry images is just having the camera too close to the subject. Even if your camera has a macro mode, there is a minimal focal distance for all lense, which is why Macro lenses are a thing. It's always better to move back a bit and crop than be too close and out of focus.
Lighting is probably the easiest thing to fix. If you don't want to build a simple light box, just grab two lamps, place them left and right of your subject and cover it with some white paper or cloth to diffuse it. Oh try to avoid firing a flash directly on the subject, its going to blow out the details and give it really harsh lighting. If you do fire the flash directly, try to place a piece of wax paper over the flash to diffuse it as much as possible. But seriously, lighting is crucial. |
^ Thank you very much for the advice. I appreciate it.
