Decided to randomly watch part of a Yugioh Gx episode subbed.
Whenever watching this show, I will be using the English names because that's easier to remember for me. Jaden's voice fits perfectly along with Chazz. But Yubel has that sexy yet threatening deep Japanese female voice that reminds me of Haman Karn for some reason. I find Jesse and Syrus' voices ridiculously feminine. Also, is it just me or does it sound really boring hearing them talk about the card effects in Japanese? Like it sounds super sterotypical anime monoluging yet its a critical part of a Yugioh series and it bores the shit out of me. |

2. Wait, someone has subbed GX? 3. Who the hell is Chazz? Which Japanese character is that? |

So I gave Gundam 00 a second chance and watched episodes 4 and 5, and I'm starting 6 right now. I was turned off originally by the lack of, well, gundams (that's why I like Build Fighters so much, better mech-fight-to-stoyline ratio), but I've kind of gotten used to it. It still feels more like a political analysis of a possible future than a series that you'd expect to have giant mech suits, however, and that's a bit of a turn-off. Still, at least ep. 5 focused more on the individual characters.

When you say a lack of Gundams, you mean in terms of action or the low number of Gundams in general? Because this isn't Seed/Destiny or G Gundam where the Gundams are given out Oprah style. YOU GET A GUNDAM! YOU GET A GUNDAM! EVERYBODY GETS A BRAND NEW GUNDAM! |

I do love the OP at the second half of the first season.
|
So I watched ep. 6 of 00, and I loved that last battle. It was so cool to finally see all of the Gundams in one battle, and it's neat to see the Virtue finally doing stuff. But I thought the Seven Sword upgrade was for the 00? It confused me when it was mentioned in reference to Exia. I'm not a fan of the outro song, however, it's really jarring.

Wasn't seven swords the codename for Exia?

But I think the term Seven Swords is a general term used to mean "Very heavily armed". So maybe the suit namers and writers had a similar thought lol. |

The 00 had a kit with seven swords too, but that's outside of the show. |
I just finished Turn A gundam:
It is hands down the best gundam series, the animation is BEAUTIFUL, the characters are fantastic. the story is engaging and the mobile suit design is top notch. I am blown away by it, like I am a huge gundam fan, and by far, this blows everything else out of the water, and the best part being technically an AU series it can be watched standalone without previous gundam knowledge |

The Beam Daggers are kinda pointless but they do exist. :lol |

That is the whole point of G Gundam though. It's supposed to be absurd and over-the-top. I like it but for much different reasons than I like any other Gundam series. |
Wait what? Other than its general over the top nature G Gundam wasn't THAT comedic.

Still kind of confused by the instant message chat rooms in Durarara!! after 8 episodes... I just do not know who is who or saying what or even if they are actual named characters or not (everyone in the chat sequences just sounds the same to me...). Being able to tie names to what's being said would add so much more context and help understand the damn show a lot more.

It wasn't the kind of comedy that was always telling jokes but there was humor everywhere on that show, some of it obviously unintentional. I mean, come on, if I say "Answer me Domon!" your first reaction isn't to grin? The whole show is one big joke. |
G Gundam's whole thing was homaging super robot stuff, though. Which usually aren't super-militaristic to begin with.
|
Just watched another episode of Fairy tail... i really ought to watch this from the start.
|
saw ep. 7 of 00 last night. It's nice to see an episode that starts with a fight scene. How's the dub, btw? I came across it on Netflix, and if it isn't too bad, I might switch over soon.

Just finished Welcome to the N.H.K. recently, it was very strange but I really enjoyed it. I've mostly been watching action-oriented stuff lately, so this was a welcome change of tone. The plot became kind of slow or less interesting at varying points, but it wasn't too bad because the characters were so great. Sato in particular was very well developed, I felt like I could relate to him really well (Although considering the theme of the show, that's probably not a good thing!).

Just watched the first episode of dsfndsjnjsd (yowimishi? Fuck knows) Pedal - mainly because it's nice to see a sports anime about something I like, and not the ten thousandth baseball/basketball/tennis anime.
The opening episode was pretty boring and had a weird obsession with realism given it's animated but since the whole first episode was basically dedicated to setting the scene I'm hoping this allows later episodes to just go nuts. |
Watched 00 ep. 8. I don't no which is more absurd, Setsuna spontaneously revealing his identity, or Marina not believing him.

Started a re-watch of Digimon for boredom before I start Wing and a re-watch of Trigun. Kind of annoying how often they say Digimon followed by Digital Monsters. Not a fan of some of the voices either. Though I do find one thing very curious, how did nobody at the camp notice that all of these kids just vanished?
