I feel like I've asked this before, but I didn't see anything recent in a quick search of the thread, so here goes (again?):
Has Sentai stabilized in terms of ratings and toy sales or is it still declining? I remember this being a big topic back when Go-Busters was out and for several years after that it seemed like the show was consistently doing worse numbers year to year. Is that still happening or has it leveled off or improved? |

In re-watching Ohranger VS. Kakuranger, the same old thought comes to mind: This crossover makes no sense in terms of continuity!
Granted, many Sentai Movies and Crossovers have a nascent tendency to disavow continuity, but this was the first such crossover since JAKQ VS. Gorenger and there really wasn't a great big need to be so flagrantly opposed to the two shows it was supposed to tie into. On the Kakuranger side, the team uses their Doron Changers to transform even though they sacrificed them to seal Daimaou. This is minor all things considering, as we never see Ninjaman or the Sanshinshou, so one could argue that they temporarily allowed the Kakuranger to reclaim their Doron Changers while they held the Seal Door in check. One could also argue that this takes place BEFORE the team actually seals Daimaou, but that's a humongous stretch! And another hypothesis would suggest that the Doron Changers merely provided some sense of visual finality when the actual intent behind the Seal Door is to hide one's own capacity for evil behind their heart, and that the Kakurangers have learned to contain their capacity for the evil that Daimaou represented and can reclaim their Doron Changers at any moment. Of course, Tsuruhime criticizing Sasuke for his blatantly pervy behavior might negate that assumption! On the Ohranger side, the obvious issue is Bacchusfundo's appearance in a Crossover which also includes OhBlocker and Tackle Boy! Technically, he was still alive after his defeat by OhBlocker, but the brunt of Baranoia didn't know that for some time. This only makes sense if the script for this Crossover was devised before the series decided to end Bacchusfundo's reign and simultaneously introduce Bomber the Great in the series, so that by the time it was set to film they had already taken Bacchusfundo out of the show but neglected to adjust the Crossover script to match and left it as is. Of course, as I and many others have mentioned before, Ohranger is notoriously inconsistent! |
So I probably asked this a while back but which ranger suit do you think as of 2024 could also work in another color and if so, which color would you like it to be? Myself, I think Bun Orange would also work well as a green ranger, but in the lime green shade they used for ToQ4, Chameleon Green, Zyuoh Elephant, and Midoninger.
|
I'm a little confused. A lot of ranger suits are designed to look well in multiple colors, hence why, helmet aside, many suits don't have too many physical differences.

Staying in line with the "Ohranger is notoriously inconsistent" mindset, another thought comes to mind: Why were Riki and Dorin temporarily excised during the middle?
KingRanger appears in Ep. 31, but is absent till around Ep. 36. In fact, the defeat of his archenemies Bacchusfundo happens entirely without him at all! Sure, keeping him around reminds the audience of King Pyramider and could underscore the debut of the Blocker Robos and OhBlocker, but even Power Rangers found a way around that by leaving Pyramidas at the bottom of Aquitar and unusable for some time. Couldn't the Ohranger writers have found a way to include Riki and not King Pyramider, or was there an entirely different reason why he and Dorin weren't seen or mentioned for several episodes, even though those episodes had situations where they were certainly needed!? |

As for who played Riki in 1995 it was Shoji Yamaguchi. Kou was played by Hisashi Sakai who was young Burai in Zyuranger the year before Dairanger. Fun fact, Yamaguchi and Sakai were all in the same acting management company/organization as Hidenori Tokuyama aka Hiroto/Go-On Gold aka Yaguruma/Kickhopper at the time. *Update: I can't spot it in episode 26 but I am convinced Riki's voice when he goes all Bruce Lee on the Baranoia during his debut battle in episode 27 after he transformed was what Hashimoto must've recorded. I wonder if it was a last minute request thing and Hashimoto wasn't credited because of it. |
Can't remember if this question has been answered before, so I'm gonna ask it again: What the hell is with that giant high heel Ako stands next to in the Jetman Ending Theme!? It doesn't appear in an actual episode per my memory.

Say what you will about the Heritage Auction controversy, it did reveal something interesting to me.
Given the number of pieces and artifacts they are pushing, they decided to be somewhat detailed by including a movie/episode screenshot or an official photo from years past with each one in addition to the pictures of the items they likely took themselves. One of the Wild Force Red Ranger suits had the following image attached to it, and the logo is curious to say the least. It's definitely a GaoRanger promotional photo to be sure. Is there an online resource that exists which uses that specific logo? |

Was the Gekiranger movie actually filmed in Hong Kong? Or do they do anything to make it look like Hong Kong? I can't imagine they actually went to HK but deep down I hope they did, so I'm trying to set my expectations a bit :lol
|
There's no chance they went to Hong Kong for Gekiranger of all series.

I heard some people say the Ohranger or Power Ranger Zeo helmet visors symbols are based on symbols on the zener cards. Is it official or just people's assumption?

When I was still a child, I was quite confused about connections between Ohranger's geometric designs with their ancient civilization motifs. But, at that time, I was still enjoying Ohranger. |

But to get back to your question, they're supposed to be cards created with the purpose of testing whether or not a person has psychic powers and stuff. Quote:
That said, I do wonder if it's a case of internal miscommunication at the time when they were in pre-production. Off topic, Shishido who played Goro/Oh Red said in an interview that the working title he was given when he auditioned was Nazoranger, which roughly translates to Riddle Ranger. :lolol |

So, why do some Sentai like to make a certain arm gesture when announcing their attacks (usually while in cockpits)?
Granted, it's more a compliment to a dramatic announcement given that stunt actors can't visually emote using facial expressions while their faces are covered, but it still comes across as... questionable. This is most obvious in Zyuranger and Dairanger, and by default, the early days of Mighty Morphin'. https://sirstack.db-destiny.net/morphylogeny/127.htm It could be because the gesture doesn't have the same amount of cultural/sociopolitical significance in Japanese society, but even that feels off cause the Shocker grunts of Kamen Rider would do a variation of the same gesture given Shocker's origins/affiliations. |

If you want a gay ranger then the closest you will get are BL dramas with former toku actors starring in them. It hurts my soul when I'm looking for dramas to watch and see former Kamen Rider and Super Sentai actors in those BL drama shows, but you probably might like them so that's my suggestion |

Does anyone know if the sound effect the Cross Changer makes when the Jetman team transforms was pigeon noises that were sampled and modulated? :lolol
|
They should make a Power Rangers game that's a Megaman clone, rather than the usual beat-em-up.
|
So, why was Zenkaiser's upgrade based on Dragon Caesar, anyway?

Does anyone know why the episodes of the first few Super Sentai shows were about 24 minutes long, then dropped to 19, and then went back up to 24? It's clear from the shows themselves that time was cut by the mecha fights, which by the mid-80s had turned into extended finishers in most cases (not always!), and by the early 2000s computer technology had allowed them to be diversified again. But this is more of a consequence than a cause, and it is most likely a matter of broadcasting peculiarities. So why did TV Asahi need to take away 5 minutes from Super Sentai in the 80s and return them in the 2000s?
|
It was a matter of the broadcasting slots changing.

I hear about the Ohranger anniversary event.

It seems to have decreased recently, but for older teams, why are pink rangers' mecha so often white with pink details even when the rest of the team's mecha are solidly their ranger's actual colors? For example Shinkenger, Goseiger and Gokaiger did it three times in a row
