Digimon Fusion felt weird, because I'm so use to the cool theme song that plays when they digivole, and that didn't happen in fusion.. Minor, but I feel like the Digimon shows state side needs that flare.

ZZ Gundam episode 41
There's Stampa crap in this episode, but it felt like more of an endgame set up then anything else. The relationship Haman and Judau is one I'm gonna love to see play out over these last 5 episodes. While its not the legendary Char and Amuro rivalry, it is quite good. Its a very strange relationship, as both are fighting for the ideals of thier people, Judau protecting the people of Earth and Haman expanding her empire and putting humanity under control of space people. Yet, they have this sort of attraction towards each other, romantically at least. Episode 42 I don't even know what to call this episode. Its not really filler since its setting up for the finale and stuff happened that's relevent to the oerall plot. But it is considering Chara and her Schnanagannery Episode 43 Glemy's rebelling? I guess that means that he was supposed to be Char? LOL |
Top wo nerae! Gunbuster: Noriko Takaya has one dream, reach space, however her shortcomings as a pilot are keeping her away from it, however, with the arrival of Coach Ohta, she finally dives in into space, war with the Space Monsters and the mysterious Gunbuster.
Gunbuster is a 6 episode OVA by Studio Gainax helmed by Hideaki Anno, and it shows, in it you can see the foundation of hotblood present in Gurren Lagann, and the character focus Evangelion aimed for. It's an odd product, the general structure plays out as a sports movie, specially in the first episodes, with the udnerdog finally getting a chance to shine, however it's also a show that is really into it's science, the mechanics of lightspeed travel are a huge part of the show, and then you have the Gunbuster which doesn't seem to want to follow any logic. As a whole it's an entertaining package, and at 6 episode, not only is it short but also memorable, some elements feel a bit shallow (the supporting cast is barely developed, and heck if I know what the heck a Space monster is) but the combiantion works, Gunbusters is very entertaining and a solid reccomendation. |
ZZ Gundam episode 44
We lost La Via en Rose! And...that's sort of it. I swear to god if you replace the name Glemy with Char in Haman's dialouge about the threat, it'd be a perfect fit. Episode 45 Mashymyre is dead but he was a Newtype? Episode 46 One more episode to go! Glemy is dead! celebrate! OH SHIT, AXIS JUST RIPPED CORE 3 A NEW ONE. Puru two is now good? But what about the other ones? The full armored ZZ is badass. Just seeing it trudge through the insane amount of lasers of the machine Glemy was piloting was awesome. Episode 47 Well that was satisfying Although I found the 30 seconds of obligatory on foot rival on rival gunfight to be forced in here. And at least the Newtype power channeling here was better done then in Zeta, as the head laser was already established. Judau's going to Jupiter, well, that's a better way of writing the main character out of the next conflict then netuering his badass combat abilities. Speaking of Kamille, it doesn't look like he's doing anything important. Puru two got her redemption and Leina's alive. Overall, I like ZZ. Though this movie begs for a compilation treatment as I feel a lot of the action scenes with Unicorn style animation would be fucking insane to see. Plus, I don't think you'd lose anything by cutting it down to 3 hour and a half or two hour movies. |
Char's Counterattack
This is it, the finale of the Char saga, the culmination of 150 episodes of Gundam, the conflicts it resolves that brought countless deaths in its wake. And.... I don't know what to think. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad movie. Let's get the basic stuff out of the way. The action is phenomenal. Every fight feels impactful and every blast, punch, crash feels good. Comparing the action from ZZ to this is about as big of a jump as 00 season 2 to AoT. The funnel fights get ridiculous and the mobile suits animate smoothly. The characters don't look like they got much of an upgrade. While the animation in nonfight scenes is much more detailed and consistent then ZZ, it still retains that same artstyle. But oh man, the music. Great score, some 80s synth thrown in but for the most part, it makes the movie feel so much more epic. And you know how I'm always complained about UC Gundam's scale? CCA defintley fixed that problem. I was afraid I was gonna hate this movie because Amuro Ray was the main character. I didn't care for Amuro in MSG and found him to be bland. But in this movie, holy hell a lot has changed in 14 years. Not only has he manned up and become a good mobile suit pilot without having to rely on his Newtype skills, he's no longer whiny. Char has changed quite a bit from Zeta. With his romantic and hinted sexual problems due to Lalah's death, alongside the Federation's 6 years of ignorance and lack of care for the people, it created this magnificent bastard. i actually was sort of rooting for him a bit in this movie. Granted not the, "Throw an asteroid into Earth and people will automatically stop being ignorant" thing but about trying to evolve everybody into Newtypes. Let's talk new characters. Chan and Char's new lover chick really didn't serve much of a purpose. Quess didn't annoy me and Hathaway was okay. I thought Quess' arc was interesting with her daddy issues along with Char's romantic and potentially sexual frustration with women since Lalah's gone. One thing I love about the new kid characters is that it sort of plays up the Gundam series' "Adults are bullshit" mentality that the main characters have, and to see both the perspective of the adults and the kids is really interesting to see. As it no longer is about Adults being ignorant but about people's ideals in general. What happens to those kids who grow up and rebel against the ideals of the adults that controlled the world before them. Essentially, Char and Amuro's conflict is about them being able to execute the ideas they have long held. And that's the problem. This really isn't a resolution of 0079, Zeta and ZZ, its just an extension and resolution of the First Gundam series. If you wanted that sort of thing, that's fine but the lack of representation from Zeta and ZZ's influence on Char is kind of disappointing. I know we have Unicorn to resolve the stories of Zeta and ZZ now, but still. The biggest problem this movie has is, WHERE THE FUCK ARE KAMILLE AND JUDAU? I know Judau had a five year journey and this movie takes place in UC 93 so he still might be getting back but Kamille? The end of Zeta the dude is fine and walking around. You'd think Londo Bell would have him for a mission like this. If Kamille or Judau were piloting the Nu in that last scene, the entire motherfucking Earth would have been enveloped in that light. But as it stands, its a good 0079 sequel. Is it a good movie? ....Yes. The pacing is a little hectic and fast paced at first but the story is written well enough to feel perfect for a two hour movie. |
Watching Elfen Lied!

i'm finally watching The Idol M@ster. just finished ep. 13 and i love it so much. reminds me that i need to catch up on Puchim@s.

Kantai Collection the anime is a thing...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABZN2...QItPAX_Z5Frmwg I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Does the game even have a story? |
Watched Build Fighters 19-21, and it's so awesome to see the Alia story arc finally come to a climax. That and it's neat to see the Quebley do something other than just stand there with stuff blowing up around it.

Char's CA should have been like a 90 minute movie or a full on series as it is just down right boring as a two hour movie. It is convoluted, the whole Amuro/Char thing feels out of place and out of the blue, and the characters of the movie are absolutely useless. NOt to mention they don't get any development. I mean, was I supposed to care about Amuro's g/f? Am I supposed to care about Quess?

Been catching up on magical girl war

Gundam Unicorn episode 1
Way to start off the Universal Century with a bang. I swear that red haired chick looks like that girl from the Gantz anime, especially in her suit, its really distracting. But she does pilot a really good mobile suit. As with Banagher's brown haired friend, I swear she looks like Rise from Persona 4. I could honestly talk about the art an animation for hours on end. The art is beautiful and the action scenes are a godsend. Seeing Kshatriya using its funnels and attacking is such a beauty to see. And the Londo bell units look so beautiful. All of the characters look sort of generic but its still in the Gundam style so I can forgive them. The scale is really awesome, everything feels big and gunshots and funnels and beam sabers sound right. I thought it was a really odd twist that the Vist guy was actually Banagher's dad. i understand it was to push him over the edge to pilot the Unicorn but its just a weird twist to put in when I know almost nothing about the dude. This episode essentially set up the Lapalace Box and people refer to it in really mysterious ways as world changing and the Unicorn somehow ties into it. My theory? It evolves Newtypes into something above and beyond. People talk about it changing the world and stuff, so if one person could evolve beyond Newtypes and lead a rebellion against the Federation and destroying it, that would be world changing. And if anybody has finished Unicorn, please please please don't spoil it for me. Even if its in spoiler tags, just don't post it. Also something of note: This is the first Gundam thing I've ever paid for. Before this point, I had always been renting old DVD sets or watching through Gundaminfo (or illegally to finish ZZ since I started it on Daisuki), so renting Unicorn on PSN was my first contribution to giving back to the creators for making such an awesome show. |

Recently they made a Kickstarter for a new show called Robotech Academy, which was finished before it could fail. So in other words, people are happy that Harmony Gold failed. |

I think all Kickstarters are a scam, but Harmony Gold is the company that owns Robotech, so it would be an official series. THey are also the reason we cannot get anything Macross released in the US anymore as they are giant babies who think they own anything and everything Macross related. They wanted to do another Robotech series so they started a Kickstarter. It has thankfully failed.
The only time they will get any money from me is if they release the original Macross on BD!!! And yes, they sued Hasbro for Jetfire. |

I'm serious. Get the fuck out right now. What about all of the great videogames that have been made thanks to kickstarter? What about stuff like Reading Rainbow, which is made to help the general public and not to make a profit? Dumb shit like the potato salad and MMPR fan film kickstarter shouldn't drag down the countless success stories from the platform. One of my favorite podcasts came from fucking kickstarter. Don't you ever try to lie to yourself about the good Kickstarter has done in 99.9% of cases. |

I think you're mistaken. |
Has it been announced that Persona 4 Arena is getting an anime or movie adaptation?

I'm enjoying the hell out of Black Lagoon. Balakaila frightens me, I'll admit that. And Revy is just awesome.

What other great video games were done by Kickstarter? What is this about Reading Rainbow? BTW, I think you missed the words "I THINK." That is just my opinion man, and I think Kickstarters are scam works. Sure, there might be a few legitimate projects to be found, but 95% of them are a scam. |
I'm watching more of Kamisama Kiss, i haven't geniuly laughed at an anime like this since Bobobo. :lol

Dragonball Z Battle of Gods - We got to see this at the Alamo Drafthouse tonight and it was down right incredible. Akira Toriyama was definitely on his A game when he wrote this as it was well written, well paced, it focused more on character development than action, and Beers is probably his most original Dragonball villain ever. In face, Beers was just plain awesome because he was not your typical villain. He had a personality, he had humor, and when he did not get that pudding, you wanted to see him get his revenge. :-) It was also nice to see the cast back after all this time, especially in something that erases that terrible GT from continuity. Of course, this movie also helped make me want Toei to just do an entirely brand new adaptation of the manga without any of the filler or the annoyingly long episodes of pointless banter (and by new adaptation I mean of the whole thing from when Goku and Bulma first met through the Buu saga. Overall, this movie gets a great big 8/10 from me. Not only is it the best Dragonball movie ever, but it is also one of the best Dragonball stories period.

Kamisama kiss episode 6.
Our protagonist Nanami gets sick and has to sleep in bed, her servant Tomoe turns himself into her using magic so her attendance rate doesn't slip, Tomoe's rival tries to make moves on "nanami" and hilarity ensues! ...I enjoyed this episode. |
After finishing a really bloody Elfen Lied, I am now starting Nisekoi.

I still want to stab the cancerous part of Bandai with a beam saber repeatedly until I get my 00 blurays with dubs without having to pay an arm, a leg and my fucking first 10 children. But this, this shit is a whole different level of hell I condem thee, Harmony Gold too. |

I guess it might be something being saved for the next movie but I have no idea how anyone would even know this then. God dammit, now I'm in a DB mood. I wish I had time to finally watch the original series and rewatch Z and then watch Kai. Maybe I should just go ahead and at least watch Kai. |

It was never dubbed for some reason. |

So I started Gundam Seed Destiny, and the first episode alone was IMO better that the first 5 of 00. I liked the animation in 00 a bit better, but this was a great start to a series. I think the problem with 00 was that there were so many factions that there really was no way to focus on all of them with out a confusing, chaotic storyline.
