OOO had bad writing? When did this happen? In my opinion I love OOO so much, and from what I've seen of Fourze so far has had the poor writing

In that pretty much about 90% of OOO is actually completely pointless - as in real pointless not just toku pointless. It has lots of great ideas and great characters but it was clear no one had actually planned any of this and was chucking random shit at the series and hoping something sticks. So that meant garbled and contradicted mythology, completely useless villains, drowning us in form changes that are actually pretty much redundant by the end. Etc etc.

You don't like Den-O, Fine. You bitch about the tone in recent years, Fine. However I've been hearing the call for a "serious" tone for so damn long that it bugs the ever loving shit out of me. These shows are made for kids, they don't have to be "adult serious". As a kid, I'd rather have fun seeing the heroes beat up the bad guys and save the day while begging my parents for the new toys, not be confused by some dark and complex plot that I can't really follow until I'm older. Just because the show isn't very serious or complex, it doesn't mean that it is dumbed down, it means that more people can enjoy it, from fans to the kids who are watching it every Sunday. At the end of the day, it's really about what works for the kids, not us.

Also, at this point being around the fandom since shortly before Den-O was revealed, some of you guys need to chill the hell out. The design of the suits and their motifs are no indication of the quality of the show to come. Keep that in mind.

Hell, as Kuuga is really my only window into this adult Rider everyone goes on so much about, I'd gladly have nothing like that ever again in my lifetime. A poorly realised, unexplained plot, an obsession with the villains slaughtering innocents, gratuitously rubbing our faces in a body count which makes the hero look pathetic, crappy rubber suits balanced with stories of child suicide etc

The whole grimdark shit rarely works anyway but especially in Toku, a genre that is inherently goofy in its construction, has to lighten up to a point or it just fails.

:eyebrow What the...? I looks like Decades belt (pre-card insertion) but shrunk down. Then they added a plastic Ginsu knife with a clown nose. So weird.

I'm not expecting adult serious, but the purpose of Kamen Rider was to be the opposite of Sentai. Sentai is meant to be fully kiddy, Kamen Rider is meant to be more adult. That is why Toei paired them up many years ago. Now, you can hardly tell the difference. And don't the ratings prove that kids are not enjoying Kamen Rider? And obviously adults aren't watching it that much either.

How do Japan ratings work? I know in the US they are basically waiting to cancel shows if they drop even like 0.1 million over the course of like a week but I've out of curiosity seen some toku track ridiculously low figures, even if you account this is Japan and not the US and it seems these shows still soldier on regardless.
