I very much disagree. Gokaioh looks fantastic in all his modes and combinations outside of GaoGokaioh (although I forgive it for being a reference to the Giant Gaolion combo in Gaoranger) and Go-on Gokaioh. I dont see how he's primitive at all either, his transformation is pretty standard for most 2000-2013 mecha and he pulls off the look really well in my opinion.

But even if you dont like the loosely pirate limbs, thats still just one part of thr line. The toyline was still full of treasure chests, pistols, crossbones, ships, sabers, keys and anchors; I really disagree with the theme being half assed.

Then you need to be more specific.

I can't, because in my opinion, mecha design took a shitturn with Jungle Fury, and hasn't been even halfway decent since.

Sentai mecha have just looked downright awful for years. It's not even the simplicity that's the problem. Simplicity is good if it accomplishes a lot and is super clever. But modern sentai mecha lack any kind of innovation and look terrible.

The jet is a massive square wit tiny little wings.

Even the truck, which should be a square, doesn't even look like a good truck. It's limbs are giant boxes, the gimmick is literally just giant doors opening and hanging off while more kibble pops out and hangs off.

Except it is not. Again, the yellow zord parts forms for what should be the simplest transformation ever. The green zord from Dekaranger transforms the exatc same way, is the exact same type of vehicle, ALSO opens up to reveal a compartment, and doesn't parts form. It's also smaller, IIRC.

But it's the part we're talking about. And to most people, the mecha is the most important part of a sentai line next to the rangers themselves.

I see the dragon transformation as just an artifact of the emblem mode. The actual combination to the leg is very simple, as the Samurai Megazord demonstrates.

Yes, I was at fault for not being more specific. But honestly with combinations like Daizyujin and Muteki Shogun, could I honestly make that lie? Lying is with intent to deceive and there's no way I could have deceived anyone saying that all Sentai combinations were that simple. It would be better to say "you're wrong".

That's splitting hairs, man. Artifact or not, it's part of the transformation. In order to make the dragon a leg, you have to transform it way more, even if the dragon looks not great.

This is all just semantics. There's no reason to make that distinction.

Daizyujin, OhBlocker, DaiRenOh, Flash King, Time Robo, Mega Voyager, MagiKing, all mechs that eschew the Voltron style of combination, all came years before GokaiOh.

I'll have to give you that. :lol For some reason ShinkenOh just felt so simple in my head but I guess it could be considered more complex than the usual.

I guess what I can say is that for me, ShinkenOh's transformation doesn't feel any more inspired than anything post Boukenger. It feels the same even with more steps in the transformation.

True, sadly Sentai hasn't been that way since Boukenger. Go-busters tried, it didn't really work.

Um, Time Robo still has a Voltron setup.
Red is the body and depending on mode, I'll be going with Alpha, Blue and Green form the Legs and Pink and Yellow form the Arms.

But I will agree the transformations for that are more complicated than "stick Zord on peg."

Funny that you compare it to Dekaranger Robo, when right next to the truck are PatSigner and PatArmour who transform by pulling the hand out and thats it. Also, PatTrailer doesnt open, it has a tray in the side that slides out for weapon storage, which is very different to Gokaioh's gimmick and far less obstructuve to where hinges can be. Sentai neraly always have extremely simple limbs, Gokaioh is not unique in that.

For some reason whenever a Sentai mech has a hat, I end up liking it more than most others. GokaiOh and Magiking are two of my favorites because of it.
