Titanus being $200 is an ouch and I'm out on that one. It looks great, and I'm sure it will be worth it, but I just can't justify it. |

I don't care, honestly, not only are Power Rangers toys of lesser quality than the Japanese counterparts, but the over saturation of MMPR has made this a total waste. Literally this whole '20 years of power rangers' event has just been releasing the first team in a billion different sizes, shapes and colours.
I've found this anniversary an ultimate test of my Power Rangers fan patience in general both because Megaforce was a steaming pile of shit of a show, but also this HUGE influx of new toys has been like I've said above. I know, love the show, hate the marketeers but it's just really really sad for me that it seems the only people the marketeers care about as people who AREN'T fans of the franchise. Oh what, here's a token Mystic Force figure without his fucking cape. See, we said this Anniversary would appeal to adult fans as well! |
Apparently the show is doing something right if the Legacy line is continuing into 2015 and the Legacy items are selling like hotcakes at TRU. The marketing images said Samurai did $40 million in sales, Super Samurai did over $80 million. We've still yet to see any indication of what Megaforce did.

I totally understand why the 20th anniversary is going "MMPR, MMPR, MMPR", but that doesn't mean I like it. I hate it, actually and that's coming from somebody who's bought practically every 20th Anniversary related item! I agree with Locke's assessment that it seems a lot of it is targeted towards non-fans or very casual fans more then the sort of fans on this forum, directly aiming for nostalgia buys more then anything else. The few places that I truly feel like the anniversary is shining through are things like the ACG, Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit and stuff carried over from Gokaiger. PR themselves have done very little.
Its just sad, because this is also the TF 30th Anniversary and their toyline has had really awesome new figures from nearly every TF line and franchise ever, rather then just "G1, G1, G1". Comparing that to the MMPR-fest PR's doing, its a little disappointing. I know TF has a far larger fanbase and is a bigger franchise, so its easier for them, but I would've loved it if the Legacy line gave us stuff from other seasons. Particularly from some of the non-MMPR seasons with extremely rare merchandise like Zeo. |
It's funny because even nostalgia junkies are surely gonna say enough is enough when they've bought their fifteenth green ranger variation from the anniversary. But this one has muscles! this one is four inches! This one has removable armour! This one has poorly applied paint! This one is imported! Blah. I guess at least the Megaforce toys represent Megaforce the show, lifeless, soulless, identityless and cheap.

i'm long past the point of caring about MMPR, to the point i actually recommend that people starting to watch the franchise begin with Zeo so as not to get MMPR-tainted.
But it is an Unavoidable part of what PR is, and if having to deal with a flood of Tommy's and Jason's means i can have even one Carter or Wes then i'll do it. |
Since people were wanting a Legacy Megazord with Titanus coming, I posted a full list of every TRU in the country with Legacy Megazords left. It's not a big list.
