Space Sheriff Gavan Episode 2: Well I loved this episode a lot more than the first because it had a lot less sporadic jumps in the pacing, Makuu had a seriously dangerous threat, and Retsu kicked a lot of ass. The space battle was awesome, the stealth takedowns from Gavan were great and some were hilarious, and the battle with the weird frog monster was fantastic. I love how the go to the other worlds or weird place to have the fights, it's dark and eerie which is kind of awesome, the fight on the planet's rings was pretty sweet. I love Dol too how can you not love a giant space dragon that kicks ass. Definitely reminds me of an amalgam of UltraMan, Sentai, and Rider together. I loved the sword fight too that was one heck of a fight and just loved Retsu fighting and sneaking his way to stop the Makuu threat. I can't wait for more action-packed adventures of Gavan.

Well
I'm on episode 9 of Chouseishin Gransazer. It's so damn amazing, it has a great plot with an interesting idea for heroes and their backstories. I'm on episode 6 of Tokkei Winspector. My favorite metal hero as a kid(I'm a lot younger than most Toku fans), but it's a blessing to be able to see it subbed. I haven't had a lot of time to see it, I started it in October, but it's very suspenseful with some great action scenes, and the series is more realistic, but fun at the same time. Awesome series. |
Space Sheriff Gavan Episode 3: This was fantastic. This episode actually introduced one of the major plots of the show with Gavan searching for what happened to his father and why Hunter Killer betrayed them. I definitely love the stealth and the action in this show. Kenji Ohba sure is stellar with his performance here. I definitely feel he is one of the big reasons Metal Heroes was successful for it's time in the beginning. Mimi is very useful and an interesting supporting character too. I am enjoying learning more about Gavan's backstory and more about the Makuu as well. I love that he defeats two monsters an episode, especially love the sword fights here too. I love his abilities too, the Lazer Z Beam and Gavan Dynamic are awesome. Definitely a fun series so far and I can't wait for more.

Space Sheriff Gavan Episode 4: Retsu is such an ass-kicker, seriously his moves are awesome. Well right now till the plot moves on it's just normal stop evil Makuu plot, this time with the Demon Helm, which was interesting part of Planet Bird history that was brought to Earth. The supporting cast is fun, especially the Old Man who runs the ranch or whatever. I am more intrigued with the story with Hunter Killer and what looks like sets up next episode with Gavan chasing after him. Really the action is the highlight of this show right now Kenji Ohba really outdoes himself here it is something else just to see how he knocks out these henchmen. Still enjoying it and I can't wait for more.
Space Sheriff Gavan Episode 5: That was another fun episode. Nice to see that Mimi can handle the situation without Gavan and not panic about his poisoning. Marine was fun even for a small part. Gavan being poisoned sucked as much as how much he got paid lol, too bad the Space Sheriffs can't give him some Japanese Money to survive on or something. Still the highlight of the show are the battles and Kenji Ohba's amazing talent keeps shining here I loved every moment of the fights and definitely can't wait for more. Space Sheriff Gavan Episode 6: Ah the try to take over kids and make them geniuses to use them against the Toku hero stock plot episode. I don't really care for these episodes because they focus a lot on the kids rather than the hero. Still that's just me not caring for the stock plot not anything against this episode. I rather enjoyed this episode seeing how much Gavan cares for the kids and going to great lengths to protect them. The music is really awesome during these episodes I love the serious music really makes the Makuu plots really eerie and serious. Also the theme song during the fights are awesome because the theme is just awesome. The action continues to be the highlight for all the same reasons I mention before but the Lazer Z Beam looked better this time around and I love the sword fights too. Even though it's still episodic like Showa-Era shows are, I still am loving the hell out of this, Kenji Ohba is fantastic and I just love Gavan's armor a lot. |
I keep wanting to watch Metal Heroes but none of the ones i'm rally interested in are subbed. Can anybody point me in a good direction?

I was really hoping to watch Ninja Sekai Sen Jiraiya, but it seems as though not a single episode of that has subs. Lame. |

Also, Metalder is just a really great show and more people need to watch it. |

Gransazer has a little CGi, but that's for like effects and stuff. The Mech battles are done better than Sentai, and aren't used repetitively(not used in every episode). It's really good. |

Yeah, and Metalder has 21-29 subbed in Spanish(the whole series) as well. I think you'll like Gransazer. Doesn't have much CGI and it blends well with some very interesting concepts. |
Space Sheriff Gavan Episodes 7 and 8: Episode 7 was pretty much the same episodic, stop Makuu plot with amazing action. However, Episode 8 was really, really good. Makuu's plot to try and ruin Gavan's reputation I thought was brilliant and done really well. Makuu has gotten craftier with their plans and I could see this actually affecting Gavan negatively, if he didn't have Kojiro's help and Makuu being foolish here. Also the fight scenes were even better with including an actual space ship battle here too. Kenji Ohba continues to excel with his fight scenes here and the suit actor is out of this world too. The other part of the fights I enjoyed from both episodes was that Gavan brought out more of his special abilities which was awesome to see he can do more like have different energy blasts and a super speed move which was fantastic. Episode 8 really picked up the show for me and I can't wait for more.

im surprised. kaiketsu zubat is totally awesome..
|
Space Sheriff Gavan Episode 9-11: Well I will say that 9 and 10 were definitely better plots by Makuu with forcing a scientist to try and create a germ bomb, and trying to turn athletes against Gavan. Both were really good episodes and like always had fantastic action that just blows your mind. Episode 11 was great because it moved the plot forward with Gavan learning more about his Father. That Voicer helped out this girl and her family with an experiment. It's definitely interesting with finding his Father's ship and that Makuu might have him captured. Still so many questions that have been raised and still lots of awesome action between Gavan finding off the DoubleMen, the fights with Dol, and the Sword fights. This show is definitely picking up and is definitely really awesome right now.

Space Sheriff Gavan Episodes 12-14: Well this officially catches me up to the episodes that MFC has finished subbing, so now it's like a new series for me. It was worth catching up honestly. Episode 12 was good, still loving the action and that Tsukiko, the girl that knows Retsu's father is staying around is interesting. The action was really really good in this episode too and the Makuu Space merging with the Amusement park created an interesting environment to fight in here. Episodes 13 and 14 were a fantastic two-parter introducing the upgraded minions the Double Monster a merger of a Double Man and a Monster. This particular Double Man I enjoyed because he was motivated to fight for his freedom and I think that made him immensely more powerful than the random other generic monsters Gavan fought before. Gavan held him off great in the first episode and the second episode was like a great build up to a feud in wrestling. I mean Gavan training himself to get stronger and studying his opponent was fantastic and seeing the Double Monster train too was great. I loved that Retsu felt really worried about this fight and spent a lot of times with the kids I thought that was a wonderful scene that made this fight really really elevated because it made you worry about Retsu too. The fight was amazing and lived up to the hype and Retsu fought his heart out against this Double Monster. That was an awesome fight and I also loved that the Commander came back from Planet Bird to help him train that was a nice touch. I cannot wait for more episodes, it has definitely picked up here and I am loving my first series I'm diving into of Metal Heroes.

Started watching Tokkei Winspector and five episodes in its okay. It has some good points and also stuff I'm not so into. The effects are kinda underwhelming cosidering that it was made in 1990. It looks much more like and early/mid 80s show in that regard. I'm gonna continue with it but its definitely not this great show I heard so many people saying it would be.

One day I'm going to have to bear it and watch Guyferd raw. It looks great.
|
Just finished watching Ebirah, Horror of the Deep AKA Godzilla vs The Sea Monster. Most people bash on this movie for being slow and not featuring a lot of Godzilla action, but I actually loved it. It's basically an adventure film about people stuck on a mysterious island, and they happen to bump into Godzilla along the way. Definitely one of my favorite Godzilla films, and incredibly underrated. I'm not sure how people can bash on this movie but celebrate Ghidorah, The Three-Headed Monster when it has all of the same problems, except the human story in that film doesn't have nearly as fun of a human story, and all the spy stuff has almost nothing to do with the monster rumble.
|
Space Sheriff Gavan Episode 15: Yeah MFC wasn't kidding this episode is a gigantic long fight scene. Which is absolutely amazing because of A) The fighting is one of the best parts of the show and B) This was the best plan I've seen from Makuu because of how bad they wanted to succeed in killing Gavan they threw everything except the kitchen sink at Gavan. It was wave after wave of enemies for Gavan. They even had a great plan to trap him too. This was one of the best episodes of Gavan because of it. Retsu really outdid himself with fighting off all those enemies, and then continues to go fighting the Double Monster in Makuu space even with fighting with Dol too. Amazing episodes from both Gavan and Makuu and I definitely can't wait for more.

I'm up through episode 8 of Zubat, which features some of the most glorious over-the-top quirky acting I've seen in quite some time. I have no idea what the director or actor were thinking, but the blind swordsman's body language and facial expressions were entrancingly bizarre.
The episode also started with Hayakawa randomly riding around on the raised shovel of a shovel dozer, playing his guitar and singing the Dead Asuka Song. I freaking love this show. The one thing I have to note, though, is that my least favorite part of the show is the actual Zubat scenes. Hayakawa is such a fun and engaging character that I like watching him far more than his alter ego. |
Space Sheriff Gavan Episode 16: The boy being from Planet Lake and being a scientist was intriguing. The action was fantastic once again especially with Kasumi the android protecting the boy was awesome too. Gavan is awesome like normal. Just another protect the kid episode. I can't wait for more though this was an alright episode.

UltraMan Episode 1: Well it's nice to see in about 50 years that the formula for UltraMan still works, with having a team fighting against the monsters. The biggest thing I didn't know was that Tachibana from Kamen Rider was in this series too, I guess he's the actor to get if you want to start a franchise off right. Well I definitely see the references that both UltraMan the Next and UltraMan X did to this series right from the beginning which is awesome. Well I enjoyed meeting UltraMan and Hayata, UltraMan wants to protect the Earth and Hayata is the confident pilot so I like them both right now. I loved Akiko believing in that Hayata was alive and the Captain was good too. The fight scenes were pretty good too for the 60's. I am really enjoying it right now, so as we begin the 50th Anniversary of UltraMan, I will continue this series.
UltraMan Episode 2: The hell why haven't I heard more about this! This was fantastic. I totally loved finally seeing the Baltan alien and wondering what the heck that was for the longest time. So Shin is awesome and I enjoyed him trying to talk to the Baltan and try and find a peaceful way to handle this situation. I love that he got the Beta Capsule knocked out of his hand early and actually jumped for it, he is a crazy man lol. Captain Tachibana (I know not the character's name but what he is to me lol.) I loved how he was defending the peaceful plan and not the nuke the hell out of it plan. The other supporting characters are fun I love the one who talked to the audience that was a fun scene. The Baltan's plight was intriguing it didn't need to get violent it was just that he wanted to take over Earth not co-exist which was the problem. Great aerial battle here too. I am really enjoying this and can't wait for more. UltraMan Episode 3: Well I have to feel that I want to blame Hoshino for half the crap that happened here for kind of waking up the monster but it seems like the Monster was going to wake up anyways. Still this was a little too much Hoshino for my liking. Anyways, The Science Patrol I am loving how they track down and figure out the monster's habits and figuring out about it wanting electricity. Well I know all the teams names by now so I am liking them all from that is a good sign. Shin is still my favorite just with his confidence and intelligence and well being the UltraMan Host. The combat was great I love the Original UltraMan's more grappling/wrestling style of fighting how he goes more for grabs here. I loved how he grabs the monster by the head and slams it across his knee that looked painful. As well as lifting the monster up and spinning him around then throwing him. Also when he took the monster's attack in the beginning like it was nothing and then pounded his chest was brilliant, he was like that tickled lol. I will say that Hoshino is a bit brash and brave so the kid's got heart I'll see how it goes with him and all the Science Patrol as I watch more. Which I can't wait for. UltraMan Episodes 4 and 5: Both better episodes. Episode 4 was a lot better for Hoshino, this kid is definitely brave I'll give him that with being a distraction for Ragon. Ide I love as comedic relief he's fun. Arashi was pretty awesome in Episode 5 fighting against the plant monster and trying his hardest to defeat it because it felt it was his responsibility. I really love the Science Patrol the all work hard to find these monsters and assess the threats and save people's lives. Like Akiko clearing out the resort she was at when Ragon was attacking. The Captain is very intelligent and a great leader he's showing here. I love Hayata very confident and intelligent with solving the mystery with the plant monster in episode 5. I also love his protective nature with making sure to get the bomb before it hit the ground against Ragon and taking Arashi to safety so he could transform against the Plant Monster. Also that even with his time limit running out he got rid of the bomb too that was great. He is also caring as well with making sure Hoshino and the other's belief that UltraMan didn't die from the bomb exploding too. Well I can't wait for more, I didn't know what to expect from this show but it's been a lot better than I thought. UltraMan Episode 6: Well this show really likes to focus on Hoshino doesn't it? Well I mean the kid helped stop Smugglers here so he's doing good. I just care more for the parts with the Science Patrol who all kind of shined here this episode especially fighting against Gesura when Hayata went missing. I liked that Hayata and Akiko were worried about the kids too I like how much they care. Also I liked that Hayata was worried about what was going on in the ocean as well with the giant shark being attacked. Gesura was an interesting fish monster and I'm glad that UltraMan didn't kill it that he was able to force it back was great. Also that Hayata stopped Gesura and the Smugglers was fun too. The action is really fun too this was a nice match between them. I am really enjoying the show I'm just hoping the Science Patrol ends up getting more screen time than Hoshino in more of the episodes coming up next for me. Well still I can't wait for more. |
I have this small pile of DVDs I bought dirt cheap nearly a decade ago from a closing Movie Gallery. I only watched one or two of them before they just got mixed in with my movie shelf and never watched. I've been sitting around sick for a few days though and decided to try them out. Holy crap was Bloodrayne a bad movie. Sheesh.
After that disaster, I popped in Godzilla Final Wars. I don't know if its considered a good movie or not, but yes! I loved everything about that movie. Especially the ex-wrestler dude speaking English the whole time. (That took some getting used to. For some reason my ill brain didn't initially understand him because it was tuning out the Japanese and waiting for subtitles.) I've never really watched any Godzilla before. Saw a few minutes of one of the older ones years ago before I got bored and tried fast-forwarding to monster footage. That was largely because I was going in with the wrong expectations. It had just the right levels of camp, action, and dudes in rubber suits that I was thoroughly happy with it. |
Final Wars is a fun movie to just kick back and enjoy, but really isn't Godzilla at it's finest.

I noticed Crackle had Godzilla 2000 and Wikipedia claimed the dub was actually a slightly better movie due to fixed pacing issues. I only got about 2/3s through it though as the Crackle app on my TV is definitely not as crash-proof as the Netflix one is. |
I loved Godzilla Final Wars. There was tons of action, enjoyable human sequences, and it was great seeing updates of old Showa monsters. Maybe not the deepest Godzilla film, but one of the most fun.
Anyways, I just finished Son of Godzilla. I guess I kind of understand why it gets a poor rep, but I actually enjoyed it. The pacing was pretty good, it had lots of good monster footage throughout, and the human and monster aspects worked well together. Also, between this and Ebirah, I think I might prefer Godzilla on an island to Godzilla in a city. |
To be honest, I loved Final Wars, but aside from the dude with the mustache, I really didn't like the human scenes. Too much Matrix dickriding.

*Sudden realization kicks in* ...Oh. |
Yeah, there's a lot of ponies and references to Gekiranger and Sun Vulcan.
Personally, I liked the "mutant" scenes. They were kind of stupid, but it was kind of cool too and a bit different from the norm of "oh man how are we gonna stop Godzilla? Should we study it or should we kill it!?" |
I watched the first episode Giant Robot Mikazuki that I found on youtube. Can't really saw much about it right now since I've only seen the first episode. But yeah, never really imagined a watermelon as the monster of the week... uh month since the show was apparently monthly.
|
I love Final Wars, it's one of my favorite Godzilla films. It's so much damn fun, action scenes with Kaiju and Humans, and was a perfect way to put Godzilla on a break, with a bang and fighting his most famous enemy.
It was non-stop awesome action. |
I have to be honest. I thought King Ghidorah was such a cool enemy before I ever saw a Godzilla film, but now that I've seen roughly half of them, I'm not really a fan. I haven't seen every Ghidorah flick, but from what I have seen most of them aren't great and his appearances are always too short and way at the end. I think the only one I've really enjoyed was Invasion of Astro Monster.
|
Final Wars was a let down to me. It was Godzilla's 50th anniversary and most of the monsters added in the film are just added to be killed off. The movie was trying to be very campy, but still trying to be serious. A lot of the action scenes are very similar to The Matrix, X-Men and Jet Li's The One. It makes you feel like that you should be watching better movies instead. Final Wars has a love or hate rep with most G fans. I seen it once and I never have the urge to see it again.
|
Really, only the monster fighting is what makes me not condemn it. The very campy fight with Anguirus, Rodan, and Caesar to the climax against Ghidora and Gigan are basically 90% of the reason why I'd ever watch it (The other 10% being the mustache'd dude).

UltraMan Episode 7: That was a fantastic episode; mainly because it didn't focus on Hoshino or had the little kids plots in it. I really enjoyed them travelling to the Middle East to see about problems a monster was causing. World travel is fun and that it lead to a place that an UltraMan visited before is interesting. Especially being called the God of Noa, which reminds me of UltraMan Noa from Nexus. I'm guessing there is more between the two than I realize. Definitely a fun and intriguing fight too. That the Specium Ray didn't defeat it was fascinating. I wonder what that Blue Jewel was besides just something that could defeat Antlar. Nice planning by the Captain to leave Akiko behind or else they would have been pretty stranded there. I hope the City of Baraj gets more visitor maybe with the Science Patrols help because that is just kind of depressing to think about other wise. Still this is a very entertaining and awesome show right now and I can't wait for more.
UltraMan Episode 8 and 9: Both very good episodes. I enjoyed Episode 8 a lot because of the Monster fighting in it. Red King was freaking brutal with ripping that one monster's arm off and all the blood between them was fun. Red King hasn't changed in 50 years and neither has Pigmon lol. I felt bad for the Pigmon but I'm glad that Pigmon is normally the same helpful monster that it normally is in Ultra series. One of my favorite parts of this series is seeing how Hayata magically ends up by himself to transform from getting hurt in episode 8 and crashing in a helicopter from episode 9 makes me think that Hayata is Ultra by himself lol. The fight with Gabora was pretty awesome and so was the fight against the Red King. I like how both were taken down by throws rather than the Specium Ray showing that he has more ways to take down the monsters or aliens than just one. Both episodes were good with dealing with the threats and the Science Patrol growing and being used very well. I love the entire team of the Science Patrol including Hoshino too. Well I can't wait for more. I love this series right now. =) UltraMan Episode 10: I'm just starting with the combat here because this is basically UltraMan vs Godzilla and it was pretty freaking epic. Well it was actually a monster named Jirass that was raised by a mad dinosaur-obsessed scientist but it's the actually Godzilla suit. I had to look it up because it looked so much like Godzilla that I wanted to make sure. After UltraMan viciously rips off the added frill it definitely looked like Godzilla. Still UltraMan was a lot of fun in this fight after he ripped off the frill he was going like a matador on Jirass which was hilarious, also the taunting and the laughing was great too. I'm glad Hayata just decided to separate from the group rather than having a reason this time because he knew he had to go stop Jirass sooner than later. The episode was definitely set up more for the fight because there wasn't much with the characters going on except that Ide, Hayata, and Arashi got a mini-vacation which looked like fun for them. Also, Ide is pretty good at fixing his communicator with just a hair pin so good for him. Also, awesome special effects with the light surrounding Hayata, I didn't know they could do stuff like that in the 60's; the effects for this series have honestly been amazing. Still that was an amazing monster fight and I loved how they both threw rocks in the air and then blasted it away. I can't wait for more awesome giant vs monster action. =) UltraMan Episode 11 and 12: I was sick a bit when I watched these but I still remember most of them. The Magic Rock and the Mummy lol. The Magic Rock was an intriguing episode I liked the concept of the rock that can change into whatever someone wishes for as long as the focus on it. Though the guy who stole was definitely insane with wanting to scare people and how he laughed. I wonder if it was an alien's toy or the race itself. It was interesting to see UltraMan fly it away into space. The Mummy was interesting especially since he didn't grow big and there was another giant monster connected with it. I enjoyed the battle and especially how it showed how Hayata goes back to normal and in different places. Both were interesting and fun episodes. |
