I'm pretty sure the suits are plain because of the colour swapping. I'd be surprised if some of the alternative colours they can use don't have more elaborate designs too, like the Kyoryugers armed on modes.

I really don't think the plainness will be a problem in the show.

I already do not like red nor pink going off of how they look. Pink looks to bubbly and red, red just looks silly to me with his mouth and how light his hair is.

Okay, if you don't like a personality, fine, but don't you think it's a little mean to complain about someone's looks? I mean, Shison Jun may be able to change his hair color, but complaining about his mouth goes a bit to far.

At least none of them have monkey ears like GoseiPink. :p

I like the cockpit to, though the red seat does kinda remind me of those quarter rides you find at grocery stores :lol

Now if we had actual quarter rides like that, I'd actually sit in one!

It's a kind of theater makeup (it won't run under stage lights) but yes, it's lipstick.

These scans look incredible and well, the villains look to me at least better that Kyoryuger's. The cockpits look cool and for some reason when these guys get figuarts do you guys think it will be like with Gokaiger, where we will get their seats? But anywho the robot monkey looks cool, the trains look good, and it's just looking to be an awesome season, as well as with hoe transformations and stuff saying phrases is better than music in my opinion.

Now that I think about it, it sounds like they took Den-O and Shining Time Station, put them together with sentai.

What's that, if you don't mind me asking? Because I know it from somewhere.

The villains make me want to watch the show. It also doesn't hurt that there are rumors of a purple dragon train coming.

While I'm still not thrilled on the train theme, the suits are starting to grow on me. I really like how dapper the villains look.

I used to watch Thomas the Tank Engine, and the only place I think I remember Shining Time from is the movie with Diesel 10. To Wikipedia!

Whoa, those villains are boss! They remind me of the main baddie from Maskman -- that Bowie-esque, Victorian-inspire main dude.

That the Madame's goal is to marry her daughter to the evil emperor is pure awesome.

Since it's a Kobayashi show, I can't wait for them to reveal the loner bad guy with his own moral code (Juuzo, etc...). He'll probably look sick as hell.

That is my favorite style of cockpit (all in the same room, each with their own control console). All these guys are missing are pull-cords for a train whistle.

The ToQgers all have amnesia? And they've known each other since childhood? And they're fighting to restore their memories? And their powers are based on imagination? I can get on board (get it? Cause trains? Ok, I'll shut up.) with all that.

Now that I'm sold, I think it's time to go into spoiler-avoidance mode.

Not feeling it, I like cockpits that look like cockpits. That looks like the set of a gameshow or something. I will always much prefer cockpits like the stuff found in Go-Busters, as they looked like real cockpits. Hell I don't even mind Mikazuki's cockpit because at least that is distinctly alien, and doesn't just look like someone sat at a table or something.

Definitely see where you're coming from, but the Dekaranger/Go-Busters style cockpits are my least favorite. While I dig the intricacies of the design, I mostly hate when Super Sentai producers attempt realism. They're not good at it.

Whenever they try, it takes away from the manic, surrealist fun of the genre.

That said, I agree with you on Mikazuki's cockpit. As much as I hated that first episode, I did love the Buddha cockpit.

I'm going to go into this show with an open mind but damn does it sound wired as hell. HAND PUPPET MONKEY!!!!!! A robot that looks like she is pole dancing in a train. Second thought... I'm going to love this show.

Really? I loved those cockpits and thought that they fit the Real Robot genre they were going for.

The ToQger cockpits are pretty sweet too.

Equally, I LOVED the design of the President's, many claptraps. Huge levers and pulleys, big classic buttons and huge, heavy looking hatches with bare, metal walls. If anything that would have probably worked great for this as well.

Would love to see two Rangers yank down on a huge, heavy lever together and seeing Tokkyu One smashing down a huge red button for the finisher.

I dunno, I've just been a firm disbeliever in toku giant stuff. I can swallow rubber monsters, and spandex wirework because for the most park it genuinely looks pretty decent, save for the onshow zip every now and then but with the giant stuff it rarely seems like they are actually trying with horrendous flimsy suits, and awful close ups that expose the miniatures and cardboard nature of the buildings that should just be avoided.

And then it just adds insult to injury when the Rangers are sat in a room that feels completely disconnected from the outside world, and you can clearly see the set beyond in their visor. At least when Go-busters cut away, we could see the fight through their cockpit window, and they had ranges of monitors and lots of buttons to keep themselves busy and connected to the action.

Monkey Puppet is classic Kobayashi. Reminds me of Prof Maki's doll in OOOs.

Man, I love it when Kobayashi gets weird.

Yeah, I mean, they looked cool and everything, but I think it's more dynamic when the team shares a single, giant cockpit in the gattai robos. It may not make as much logical sense, but I think it makes for better team interaction. And like I said, I don't like sentai realism. For me, the more absurd and outlandish the show goes, the better.

See, that's exactly why I like the weirder stuff. I like the strange, rubber and cardboard artificiality of the giant robot fights, and when the production design introduces "realistic" elements, it tips over my precariously balanced suspension of disbelief and rips me right out of the show. That's why I prefer things like the Magiranger chess-board cockpits or the Gokaiger cockpits. They look cool, but are really surreal.

I agree, though the visor reflections I've never really noticed.

I think there needs to be a lot of stuff for the Rangers to physically mess around with in the cockpit. It's why I like the Gokaiger cockpit -- when the tension ratchets up, they can dramatically spin their ship wheels. It's also why I wish this cockpit had pull-cord train whistles or a brake lever. Something physical they can interact with instead of just waving their hands around, voguing like they're in a scifi-themed Madonna music video.

I get your point, but given that Go-Busters tried to go for realism, that explains the change.

Personally I really like what I am seeing so far. Only thing thats a little dissappointing is the fact that they do the color swapping to change the exclusive weapons...its kinda lame but whatever xD

I dunno, I just loved Ace really when I say I loved Go-Busters shit. I mean I loved the cockpits in general, but in terms of external design, I love how Ace LOOKED like a mech and then turned into the frickin' batmobile. And a cheetah, for good measure. I think Ace is like the only robo in the whole franchise that looks like a genuine giant robot.

I think the Goseiger cockpits are some of the worst. They handles in that had no details, and appeared to be stuck in place. About all they did was slam their hand on their desks, and they didn't even hide how hollow it sounded. Awful. And that says a lot since all the Dairangers used were Plasma Balls, lol.
