RIN ~Daughters of Mnemosyne~. So this keeps cropping up on Netflix in the "Because you Watched" menus, so I decided to give it a try. And yup. The story is solidish. She's a detective who takes whatever case she can to get by, but always ends up with these really weird mindscrew cases that usually lead to her dying in some horrific way. Or ending up naked, tied to something, and then dying in some horrific way. Or molested by some god knows what. I just couldn't get into it. I watched 2 out of the six episodes and.. I don't have the care to watch a third.

Howl's Moving Castle - It came out on BD today and I forgot all about it until it showed up at my door. As such, we watched it this evening as I have not seen it since 2005 while my g/f has watched it on DVD a million times. This was also the first time we had ever watched the original Japanese language and I found it to be no different than the dub. Disney did an excellent job when they casted the movie as all of the characters sounded similar in both languages. Hell, I can see now why they even gave Billy Crystal the role as Calcifire, as he sounds just like him. Anyway, the movie itself is quite good, but I do have some nitpicks with it. The whole scene with Sophie's mom when she had aged was just random (seriously, her mother seemed oblivious to her daughter's misfortune) and I don't get why her age kept changing towards the end of the movie. That, and the ending just seemed to be a little rushed as I couldn't follow the last 10 minutes. Despite that though, it is a great movie and one I was glad to have watched again. Easily one of my Miyazaki's best, but Mononoke is still my favorite (would be nice if they brought both that and Spirited Away to BD already!!).

Gurren Lagann episode 2:
It was pretty good. Dang, Kamina needs to calm down. Gee...I wonder what that robot Kamina got does...[/sarcasm] Hulu apparently only has the first 9 episodes. |

The fun thing is there's still a possibility Rebuild of Evangelion is a sequel rather than a remake.
|
Can't we just end Evangelion?
Please? I hear Vision of Escaflowne could use a remake. Or Karas could get it's own series instead of 2 OVAs... |
It isn't exactly like its still going constantly. There's been one film every 2-3 years, and even then there's only one of those left now.
Besides, Rebuild of Evangelion has been fantastic. |

If it's not obvious, I don't like Evangelion. :p But to not unnecessarily step on any toes, I won't go into why (Primarily because, unlike Decade, ain't no way in hell am I rewatching it, so my memory of it has been hazy). |
Well, finished Gurren Lagann.
That was... that was something alright. Yep. Sure was something. |

Instead they only seem to be interested in rehashing the same characters and designs. And geeze, how many figures of EVA 1 exist out there? It seems like every major toy company at one point has made an EVA 1 in some form or another. |

Don't get me wrong, I love most of the series I listed, its just that their endings suck. Oh yeah, I forgot Gilgamesh. That ending makes no damn sense either. Excellent show though. Anyway, Wolf's Rain is a perfect example. It is a show that is so well done, great characters, but the ending is quite bad. I guess it makes more sense than some of the other endings though, as at least it somewhat fits with the show's context. |

Just caught up with the last couple of episodes of Oreimo. Where did all this drama come from? :lol
Also, Kuroneko is best character. If Max Factory give me a non-cosplaying version Figma I will lap that up. |
i'm currently continuing "Toriko" mainly because it stopped at episode 13 but new dubbed episode have been added so i'm continuing it right now.

I love Kai, but I cannot stand the Jp version to it. The voices just don't work for me due to the age differences. I love the Jp version to the regular version, but Funimation did an outstanding job on the dub and kept theirs close to the original script, making it the superior version between the two languages. Chris Ayres' Freeza is just down right incredible. |
Watched the first 4 episodes of Space Runaway Ideon. Despite the praise I've heard this show get I was far from impressed. I really hope it picks up soon otherwise I'm not sure I'll be able to manage all 40 episodes and 2 movies.
This week's Oreimo was also adorable. And the ending/next week's going to ruin everything. DON'T TOY WITH MY HEART LIKE THIS >:[ |
Been re-watching Madoka Magica (just as good as when I first watched) and I just got to episode 9. Yes, that one. For some reason I never noticed Sayaka screaming through Oktavia Von Seckendorff until now.

I'm rewatching Noir, and to be honest, I am not enjoying it as much as I did 8 years ago. I don't know what it is, as I loved the show when it first came out fansubbed. I watched the DVDs a million times, but I haven't watched the show in at least 7 years, and now I find myself having a hard time sitting through it.
