I like the SHF Ranger molds, to me they look more like the Sentai show since they're not overly muscled.

I bought the Legacy figures just to have a Ranger team, but they're so muscled it really doesn't look like the show.

....plus Boi,... didn't have breasts in Zyuranger. hahaha.

But I could put together a MMPR Legacy team for a fraction of what it would cost to put together the SHF Sentai team.

I guess what I'm getting at is why wouldn't BOJ just reopen the line and create new updated figures themselves?

Probably because the cost of production outweighs the return in profits. And if you mean Hasbro to release toys based on un-adapted Sentai, well I am sure that's a licensing issue. Now Bandai America could if they wanted to back when they still had the rights to make Power Rangers toys. Even though they operate as their own company, Bandai Japan is their parent. They will likely have to pay to use molds or make their own molds (since Sentai FiguArts are discontinued). There are licensing issues too.

Prior to 2019, Bandai America could make Sentai toys under the Power Rangers moniker, however they likely had to be of only suits featured in the show or comics. To do otherwise could have jeopardized Saban's marketing of the show and cause charges faced in a legal gray area. 2019 and onward, could Bandai America release Super Sentai figures not adapted to Power Rangers? Possibly, but again that faces legal gray areas, opening the door to a lawsuit from Hasbro for diminishing a brand before they had the chance to adapt it. Naturally they could not release it under the Power Rangers moniker, only Bandai Japan imports have the right to do so, and BlueFin takes care of that.

Returning back to Hasbro, they could release Sentai toys under the Power Rangers name if they choose to, depending on the situation. Even though Hasbro owns the rights to the Power Rangers brand, Toei is the ultimate owner that license out Sentai to Hasbro for adaptation, and has final say on most things. Hasbro would have to get permission from Toei and BOJ to make toys based on Sentai that have yet to be adapted. The most likely scenario is getting Fiveman lightning figures under the Power Rangers Supersonic name, and maybe some of the other suits featured in Super Megaforce, that would be included as a part of that season.

Suits from Battle Fever J, Denziman, and Sun Vulcan might require Disney's approval, but Hasbro has a good working relationship with them so it might be possible. But it all comes down to how Toei, BOJ, Hasbro, and Disney are willing to work together to bring us the best outcome of Super Sentai/Power Rangers toys

Hasbro owns the toy license for Power Rangers in the Americas (specifically the US, Canada, Mexico, Latin America, Argentina, Columbia, Chile, and Peru), some of Europe (specifically the UK, Germany, France, Switzerland, Turkey, and Greece), and Australia. Legally, Hasbro, and only Hasbro, can sell Power Rangers toys in those territories.

Bandai owns the toy license for Super Sentai, and everything associated with Super Sentai (including the Power Rangers brand name), pretty much everywhere else in the world. Legally, Bandai, and only Bandai, can sell Super Sentai and Power Rangers toys in the territories not covered by Hasbro.

Hasbro can't sell Super Sentai versions of the Lightning Collection figures in Japan because BOJ owns the license for everything Super Sentai (including Power Rangers) in that territory. Doing so would be illegal.

Theoretically, BOJ could sell Super Sentai versions of the Lightning Collection in Japan, but only if Hasbro -- the company that owns the Lightning Collection's sculpts/molds, completely independent of the toy license -- decided to license the sculpts/molds to Bandai. Hasbro won't do that -- and Bandai won't ask -- because the two companies are extremely fierce competitors. Neither company has an incentive to help a major rival make money.

Now, BoJ could make new sculpts and molds that are similar -- but not identical -- to the Lightning Collection's. However, when BoJ released a similar line years ago (i.e. SH Figuarts' Super Sentai figures), they discovered that there wasn't enough of a market for these kinds of Super Sentai figures in Japan. They won't endure the costs of developing an entirely new, Lightning Collection-esque line of action figures when a similar (arguably better) line didn't earn enough money to continue the releases.

Honestly...I think the only reason why the Sentai Figuarts line failed was because it was hard to get for us westerners.
Also, the Super Sentai series is seen as being for kids and the nostalgia for it doesn't seem to be as strong as in the US for Power Rangers.
Toei needs to market Super Sentai for a broader audience and not just for kids, or it won't work.
You'll never see BoJ reattempt to release figuarts figures of the Sentai Series.

I don't understand why Toei doesn't try to do something akin to Kamen Rider Amazonz to try to get back the older audience...
I think that would rejuvenate the brand.

I'm collecting the Power Rangers Lightning Collection purely by nostalgia, but I have a feeling that Hasbro is trying to appeal to "everyone" with Beast Morphers. Or...I just like kiddy shows...

It might be cultural too. Kamen Rider might be more appealing to a general audience in Japan while most see Super Sentai for what it is: a giant toy commercial. Once or twice every decade there's a decent season, but the collectibles tend to be unappealing for those decent seasons, making them difficult to sell. Power Rangers falls into the same trappings, with MMPR being the focus, that is usually due to nostalgia and marketing.

As for Figuarts themselves, it comes down to how the two series are different. Kamen Rider is for the most part a lone ranger archetype. He might have a buddy here and there, and the later seasons have featured some Sentai-like teams and cross overs, but for the most part the title hero is the focal point. People can drop $60 for a Kamen Rider figure they really like and be done with it. And everyone has a different favorite and a large enough fan base to justify making more.

Sentai Figuarts on the other hand, there are a lot more rangers than riders. Even if you have a favorite ranger, you can't just get him or her. You have to get the whole team. That's $60 per figure for an average of 5 to 6 member team that spans over 40 seasons. And once you have a full team then you'll most likely want the mecha to go with it. Sentai does have a large fan base, especially when Power Rangers is included, but $60 a figure is not practical for a series about a squadron of heroes.

Given how the new image lacks color info for the head but adds in the logo and text. It's again possible that the person who put the image together just screwed up and deleted items they weren't supposed to.

Hi guys...I really don't know where to post this but it concerns the Dragon Dagger.
I saw that in Zyuranger, there exist a Red Zyusouken but I don't remember seeing it in action.
Also, If I recall correctly, there is no Red Dragon Dagger in MMPR.

Is the Red Zyusouken just a piece of merch that isn't canon to Zyuranger/MMPR?

Depending on the answer I might customize a spare Dragon Dagger.

A little bit of research tells me it was a toy-only thing, and likely not even mass retail. Lots of people seem to think it was some sort of campaign prize/handout.

Btw, am I the only one here to try to fix the paint missing from some weapons or even the characters? I think I shouldn’t enjoy adding details to something that should have it but I actually do. That might be because of model kits...

Got into arguments with people over this. While these are not model kids, they are not premium figures. They are the next tier past the $10 budget figures but they are low on the tier. Paint apps will be missing. Plenty of the parts are reused across figures. The QC though shouldn't be poor- this is not acceptable.

Some details should be there. DC Gold should have had a white neck. It should have the hands painted like DC Red. DC Gold though at the price point it's at shouldn't have the sword and morpher fully painted. The buckle missing black paint is acceptable.

It's your figure, customize as much as you want. Even when all the apps are there, people still customize further because they enjoy it.

Speaking of the pricepoint, I recently realized that after Red, the next SPD Ranger we're likely to get is either Omega or Kat, considering they'd have the least amount of accessories that need to be made.

Guess I gotta keep waiting for my boy Bridge. Ah well.

Omega is super likely due to being the sixth. I can certainly see it being well-received, too; like Shadow Ranger, he never got a figuart. Same deal for Kat.

Personally I don't need or want Turbo looks for T.J., Cassie, Carlos, or Ashley because they really didn't change much for In Space (and that's really their definitive season anyways).

To me TJ always sticks out as Turbo Red rather than Space Blue. Love that episode where he personally defended Bulk and Skull.

Either way, I doubt we'll see anything Turbo related for a long time considering its reputation as a season. Maybe a Turbo Red to ride the Tommy hype, but even then there's still Zeo Red(which is way more likely now with Blue on the way) and Dino Thunder Black for that.

Which is weird as to why TJ tend to use Space Blue in recent crossovers. Probably because they would've been too many Reds and like everyone said in Space was their defining season anyway. It just makes me curious as to why he 'prefers' the Bluw Ranger power than Red without the meta context.

The renders for the figure certainly show Hasbro's intent there. They could have gotten away with it if DC Red lacked the paint. I noticed a lot of people(including myself) missing the lack of a silver collar on DC Red.

I ended up finally buying Magna Defender. It's a good figure but has a balancing problem. I think I'll get my Lightning figures on sale from now on.

It doesn't like to stand on its own. I have to use the cape to keep it standing up. And it doesn't do a good job. The legs seem almost like their different lengths. One ankle joint is stiffer than the other too.

Sounds like it might be a one off issue, mine doesn't have those issues.

Mine can stand on it's own just fine.
The stiffness though is a Hasbro overall problem. You see it plenty with their marvel legends. I suggest every figure to work the joints if not have a lubricant for a few drops.

- This wave is set for June according to Hasbro reps, but we already have in-package images. Hmmm.

So far almost all the waves have showed up in a store a month or two earlier. But by the time they state, the figures are in most stores. So I feel its more a wide release estimate and not the earliest you can buy.

Entertainment Earth ships the whole box and doesn't sell individually.
Target and co sell each item individually on the rack and it takes a while for it to pop up fully in all stores(especially with older stock still on the rack that they refuse to put on sale).

Which brings up my next point. Target and co need to start putting these figures on sale when they've been up for a while. A Wave 1 figure shouldn't always be full price when Wave 3 is out.

Gamestop put the Legacy figures on sale for a day or two and they vanished.

Looks like that bump up in price is gonna be worth it.

On other forums there seems to be a question if the Tonfa's are included.
That thing sticking out I believe is an energy effect.

The tonfa's could be hiding behind the picture as they are quite small. They did shrink down the sword of darkness.

There's also an out of package picture too with all of their accessories, for both Rocky and Blaze. Blaze's briefcase is in the spot people think Rocky's tonfas might be hiding (the bit up top is clearly the energy effect, but the bottom right has space left)... but the out of package picture has it clearly included. Rocky's does not have any tonfas, just the visible weapons, hands, and effect part. So the only conclusion I could draw is that they're not included. :/
