I guess it fits for an anniversary season to put to focus such a staple of the franchise like the Double Rider concept in a way we haven't seen in a while, even if Revi's still the "Main Rider."

I don't think it's actually accurate to say demons are always inherently evil. Even setting aside all the fiction that portrays demons as sympathetic, even in mythologically it's not that black-and-white. The original Greek word daemon that the modern word is descended from just meant any supernatural occurrence, even the actions of the gods themselves!
And even after the word demon got its evil associations in Judaism, Christianity and Islam, many spirits and deities from other religions got labeled as "demons" regardless of whether they were good, evil or something else entirely, either because it was just the closest translation someone could think of at the time, or as a way of saying "our God is the one REAL God, everyone else's gods are FAKE and EVIL!" Alternatively, I wouldn't be surprised if the demons in Revice are more like "inner demons" or dark sides, the voice of your inner conflict or the part of yourself that might be considered evil but is still an essential part of you. And the idea that power can be found by reaching an agreement with your inner demon, owning it as part of you and drawing strength from it instead of trying to suppress it, would fit very well in Kamen Rider. |

I mean given that the villains of this series are specifically an evil cult, it could just be a matter of biased interpretation. Like, maybe the cultist call Vice and others of his kind "Demons" specifically because they're an evil cult and all, but in reality Vice is really just a feral/barbaric spirit that's connected to dinosaurs.
edit* Or yeah, as what FairyKing mentioned, maybe it's like Persona 4 and it's about accepting your more negative self as a part of you and growing stronger because of that. |
I mean the whole concept of demons actually sounds cool to me, considering I am a fan of Devil May Cry. The dynamic of something as 'evil' as demons and their powers being used by a hero/protagonist isn't really far-fetched in my eyes.
And I know we are trying to get past the discussion of Vice's VA, but to add my 2 cents (or 2 pence in my case), unless he has done something illegal (like Aoki or certain Hollywood elites) or something that could directly affect people, I couldn't care less. Not dismissing what he has done, I mean he is a bit of a tosser from the looks of things, but it doesn't really bother me that much, for as weird as that sounds. |
In all honesty, the idea that Vice and co are based on negative inner feelings frankly sounds fantastic and would perfectly coincide with the dinosaur theme (given that dinosaurs are usually portrayed as aggressive in most fiction even if it may not have been accurate in reality plus it would make more sense for that the monsters of the week are made from specific people, like the yummies from OOOs.
I am curious if the stamp theme will genuinely be just stamping Vice into different forms/items or also have some tourist influence as well (given their resembleto the tourist I do think it’s a little ignorant to discount literal thousands of years of history in such as limited fashion when science and research say otherwise. Hopefully it will reflect more humanities inner negative emotions though. Rider has usually focused on humanity and what good and evil humans are capable of, so it would be cool to see it go that route for the 50th anniversary. Then again, racism is viewed as heroic in modern tokusatsu with Zenkaiger, so who knows what else can be labeled as heroic. |

Was it one of those or did I miss / not get to something else? |

It was during Stacaesar's debut, I think. Gaon acts rudely towards the other Zenkaigers, Juran calls him out on it and Gaon goes "Well, it's cuz you guys are Kikainoids too!", and then he runs away, having Kaito run after him. Kaito gets Gaon to explain himself, and I don't remember what he said, it was something "Well, humans are like this and that" which is why he's more partial to the humans than the Kikainoids. Though he never really explains his disdain for kikainoids. After that episode, though, he's toned it down. Back to Revice, his henshin: https://imgur.com/9nq4Gel |

The thing about Gaon's disdain for his fellow Kikainoids is that it's pretty consistently shown as a bad thing about him, and IIRC the flashback from Retro World hinted that it's because of some problem in his past that he's now projecting forwards. And since the chat with Kaito he has been easing up on that and focusing more on his love of organic life than his dislike for machines.
Not every quality a hero happens to have is a heroic quality. |
Anyway back to Revice, I honestly kinda expect the dinosaur theme will just be for the "cool" factor and not really connect to the story, similar to how the animal theme in Zero-One didn't have anything to do with the story's subject of A.I.

the soundtrack's a fucking banger. I'm hearing a lot of drive in there. some of these songs definitely sell the spa/beach party vibe that they're supposedly going for, too. |
SEES THE SIMILARITIES TO WIZARD ok my excitement is turning into cautious optimism/worry (Tbf the problem I have with Wizard was the cast mainly the obnxious side cast the idea there was awesome)
|
yeah there's definitely a Drive feeling in the soundtrack, especially the 4:12 track. I also have a bit of JoJo vibes from this one too. Like it's the "I'm cool" song in the back when the fight resolves

Although, something about how the moving parts move seems a bit less sturdy than I'd like. Maybe it's just that this gif shows the belt itself wobbling and gives the whole thing a sense of "wobbliness." I'm sure I'll get used to it. |
Gaon’s thing also just isn’t racism lol. He doesn’t hate or look down on a particular race or caste of Kikainoids, he hates the entire species, which like Humans on Earth are the only sentient people in Kikaitopia. The equivalent is one of those guys who goes “ugh, I hate people”.

I still don't have much of a sense for how the megaladon / Decade form looks |

So maybe Revi has suits based more on the animal, while Vice is based more on legend riders? Tbh this is the thing I'm the least clear on the details of, if anyone has info from people who have seen the movie about what the forms actually look like I'd really appreciate it |
So I guess it's confirmed it's all dinosaur forms? The synopsis briefly gave me hope that they were going more for a monster theme, and dinosaurs were just what they'd hit on first.

After some digging around I've mainly seen people on twitter who seem to be claiming the megaladon form basically just looks totally like decade? Even seen people confused why the item is a shark when it's just decade? But these are going through Google translate so it could be off
Here's an example of one of such post from user @fides0502: "Revice-san, that's Decade, isn't it? He said he was passing by with a transformation sound. But what is the item like a shark... There was 50 written on the belt, but is it like that...?". I honestly feel like I'm even less sure now, is it literally just Decade's suit, is it a kitbash, is it a new but very obviously decade inspired suit? Again if anyone knows more I'd appreciate some clarity |

But since we have rumors of Zero-One + Giraffe, Kuuga + lion, W + Falcon etc... that's not really the case anymore (unless those are not exactly canon in the show ?). I would like the story to be based on something like trying to REVIve ancient species. And somehow extracting the demons inside people could help ? There's this faction called Fenix something right ? (foundation, laboratory, I don't remember exactly, sounded like a science corp). Wouldn't be surprised if there's a plot point about reviving something (Revive, Phoenix. dot connected) EDIT : also read something about a "cactus" form that was in fact a mistranslation of some sort (but a mistranslation of what exactly ?) |
Pink and blue is an obvious homage for original Ichigo right?
And since Reiwa's final form is going to be simple and based on main suit design, we can start imagining what the final form will look like. |
