Considering the kind of leaks we've been getting lately.....would it even be possible for a shot of Geats to exist in the similar vein as the leaks rn? The leaks are trying to emulate (persumably post-production?) stills from Battle Familia/the Geats show itself, but is that really possible at this point?

It's more or less known episodes are filmed at the very most, a month and a half in prior to airdate right? (Its usually quite less than that tho, I think someone actually calculated the time between set leaks/actual airdate for Revice to be like, roughly a month and a week?) Would The scheduling/filming for the movies is most likely a bit different, I'd give it the proper 2 months in advance, perhaps more.

For Battle Familia? If Geats is appearing, then surely yes. I'm surprised nobody's tried to emulate BF locations in their mockups.

For Geats, the actual TV show, (some leaks frame themselves as Ep 1 previews)......there'a a yes, with a hard asterisk? Considering the conference is (probably) this month, Geats's face actor and most of the main cast have been casted at this point, sets have been bulit, certain scenes have been shot, shit like that. But....concerning any actual footage that would be used for Episode 1, it's a bit unlikely...?

If you'll remember, the press conference trailers, are often mostly original footage made purely for the trailer, with mayyyyybe bits of Episode 1 + 2 slid in, if they have them. My personal favorite on to think about is the Saber trailer, which not only has a completely diff look for Touma's bookstore, has an entirely different, less impressive first henshin scene present in it! (It literally looks like they shot it out back a few days before the conference lol, its real charming in that sense)

Idk where I was going with this but yeah the Geats suit is probably up and active rn, but anything touting itself as a post-production still when neither BF nor the conference has dropped seems mighty suspcious to me. Trying to emulate set leaks would be more believable honestly.

To be fair we had a phone camera type photo of revi quite a bit before the official reveal, I think it's from the episode 0 ("Kamen Rider Revice: The Movie") that played in theatres, but we got this picture a ways before that came out.

The footage in the trailer for Saber is mostly from "Kamen Rider Saber Prologue" if I recall correctly, a short episode 0 style situation that was only released in China to promote the show, it's a really weird thing tbh

Forgot we also got this image floating around a full 24 days before the press conference, and 18 whole days before "Saber + Zenkaiger: Superhero Senki" and "Revice: The Movie" played in theatres:

All this to say it's certainly possible to have legitimate leaks coming from staff or people who attended shareholder meetings and the like (I often think of the guy who took like a fucking snapchat photo of Kamen Rider Vulcan at what was presumably a shareholder/retailer/investor meeting, then i guess sent it to someone who immediately posted it online lol)

So it's certainly possible things like the most recent leak could be real until it's debunked, I'd just say it's highly unlikely since real leaks have historically looked a bit clearer, and less like photos of a cryptid lol

Wow, you learn something new everyday...I think Episode 0-type things like that Saber's Prologue and Revice The Movie are fun in the sense that they sorta let you in on how much is still being workshopped and what concepts have been pretty much been solidifed. I'd imagine by the time these come out for the public, the final(or at least penultimate) vision of the show has been established and filming for proper episodes past the introduction can begin.

(I've chosen to frankly ignore Revice's whole pre-release schedule for the most part due to how unusual it is.....Given its the 50th anni show, I'd bet development started a good deal early and was fairly unique (Similar to 01), and that naturally led to more chances for people for get their hands on certain things.)

Yeah Zero-One and Revice were both weeeeeird, but I think we're still likely into the time period where it's possible there's content that's been made for the sake of investors and/or higher ups, I just doubt it's soon enough for any of it to actually leak...

But idk, to an extent it depends how soon the press conference is going to be, if it's August 12th then, yeah, there might be nothing. If it's coming July 12th, then I sure hope they have some stuff filmed and edited by now :lol

This is kind of my feeling, too. It's odd how all of the supposed "leaks" so far look like stills from a low res internet video. When we get legit leaks, they're usually from ads for tie-in products or magazines or set photos... at best, they're a picture taken of a screen. They're never literal screenshots from video files.

A screenshot from a video would almost certainly have to come from within Toei, or from one of their close partners. As such, not only would the leaker be fired, they'd also risk legal action being taken against them. I guess it's not impossible that a screenshot leak could happen, but it would certainly be stupidly risky.

? I'm pretty sure that's one of those AI-generated images? If you zoom into the photo, it looks rather bizarre? Doesn't look like the standard crunchy pixels you'd get by zooming into a photo, it's more like a lot of it have been painted/smoothed over, just like those images tend to be. Also like, when's the last time a Rider Belt's been *that* slim?

I'd agree it could be AI generated for sure... My only hangup is that comparing them is it seems to line up relatively well with their previous image? Is that doable with modern AI?? (Which isn't to say it's not fake, since my gut says it is, but mostly to say I'm slightly impressed with the consistency lol)

If I was being a bit extra generous it is possible they could have run a very low rez image through an AI uprez software of some sort, I've seen kinda similar blurring in uprezed images before when people really overdo it

As for the belt itself however, yeah it's... really slim, to a point where it's hard to believe it could possibly be a modern rider belt :lol

To play devil's advocate for the thin belt, I did remember they sometimes use thinner versions of the belt for filming, I was reminded of the very noticable thinner belt-prop that was in the extended revice trailer lol (I don't remember noticing it in what I watched of the show so much tho?)

To be fair, a modern driver that thin can exist if the sounds and electronics are housed in the gimmick item. Wasn't the driver used by Calibur, Saikou, and Solomon effectively a plastic slab with some pins on it?

Well, due to the fact something horrible happened in japan, we can rule out geats being a serious or dark show. I hope I am wrong but it is very unlikely we get anything dark or serious this year after the ex PM got assassinated in broad daylight

But, although we have examples of Fourze and Ohrangers(if I am not mistaken?), it must be admitted that then the tragedies were much larger and affected so many people. That is, with all due respect and sympathy, is the murder of a politician so much that will hook the target audience of the show?

This is an interesting point, as we have had some series go more light hearted after serious tragedies. Though if we consider all cases sometimes this isn't the case, Ryuki for example was partly put into production as a reaction to 9/11 and that's quite a serious show with a lot of very dark themes. Zero-One's finale was produced a ways into the pandemic which affected the lives of kids in Japan quite dramtically, but the ending was quite serious and bleak at many points. So I'm not sure "tragedy = more light hearted rider" is a total rule by any means

As said above me as well I'm not sure if this is a tragedy that will mean much to children, so it's hard to know how much they'll take this into account... certainly if the show was going to have a villainous politician as an antagonist or smth like that I could see that being removed, but I'm not sure if the whole show would need to be reworked if it does lean serious but has nothing to do with politics, politicians, or "realistic" violence

Like I would not be shocked at all if some changes are made, but unless politicians were a big part of the show, I doubt this is a "scrap everything and start over" situation

To be fair, while it certainly did not cause a huge rewrite of the show, the BTS for Saber revealed that characters were intended to die during the show (or at least the finale), and that idea was changed because they wanted to create a happier ending given the times.

^^^ This, I highly doubt anything will happen unless it's something central to the core themes of the work, not just tangential similarities. Besides, it's probably too late to change if something like that was the core theme, the best they could do is damage control imo.

Idk how far along the show is to say it's early enough for rewrites or anything but yeah I think it's safe to say children are unaffected by this compared to covid and the 2011 earthquake but then again 9/11 was influential to Ryuki. That being said, whenever Abe was involved in the show, it was critically like with Build's anti military theming and I believe the Kamen Rider 1 movie's anti government undertones, so maybe this'll be ignored

It's Saturday. Hopefully this our last week with having to deal with rumors and the like, since next week is when toy listings (are theorized) to drop, the week after that being Battle Familia, and potenially the last week of month being the conference date.

That being said, before any more legitimate info starts trickling out, gotta ask: What's a rumor we've discussed that you wouldn't mind being true? Any last-minute hopes on what kind of show it'll be, regardless of the rumors we've heard?

For me, definitely Rider Jiangshi. Cool, unusual, interesting, mystical, ominous. Even if it doesn't look as cool as Kiva, the theme itself makes it quite unique. And I just want to see how it is implemented.
I have an average attitude to the rest of the rumors: nothing will disappoint or please. Except Beowulf... I'm not against the Vikings, but this is seriously not the most interesting story from Scandinavian/Germanic folklore and history.
I want a show where I really care about the characters. It doesn’t have to be a tearful drama or a ruthless tragedy for this, just make them worry about them.

The fox thing, because Gi-tsu coming from kitsune is the most sensible explanation I've heard for this guy's weird name.

Also I just like dogs, so canine heroes are always welcome in my book!

I like this as well! Fox Rider sounds fun interesting, and different from the norm, that I wouldn't mind seeing this. Plus, the "A" in the title being a fox ear is something I could get behind, as outrageous as that sounds.

I also like the Space theme, since Space Rider also sounds neat. And while the Beowulf rumor is one I'm not too enthusiastic about, mainly because I don't think they'd do one based completely on a character like Beowulf, I've seen some cool mock designs for the Axe/Wolf rumor.

Beowulf rumour was instantly appealing to me on uniqueness but Jiangshi Rider is even more of an out there concept, I can already see a Rider kick where the Jiangshi Rider stands on one leg like Kiva and does a few hops before leaping sky high and crashing on a monster

Personally I think a space theme could be fun, especially if they go big with it, would be fun to see a bunch of different planets (even if a lot of them wind up looking strangley similar to suburban Japan...)

I also think a fox/kitsune themed rider would probabaly look cool, so I'd be okay for that as long as there's some reason for them to be fox themed... if it had a general mythology theme I could see that being enjoyable

If there's one personal wish I'd like, I'd enjoy it if the show didn't take itself super seriously? Like it can still be dramatic and cool, but I don't want a show that seems to think it's more serious or cooler than it really is if that makes any sense. It doesn't need to be light hearted per se, but... maybe "earnest" is a good word to describe what I want? Idk lol

For me personally, I don't mind if it's serious or lighthearted, but I would love some consistency. Zi-O - Revice all have issues where one episode could have a serious tones for parts of the episode, and then have some goofy moment that just feels jarring. I just want a show with a bit more consistency.

If there's one thing I don't need, it's for a Zenkaiger-like show where the show doesn't take itself seriously, but wants the audience to still somehow take it seriously enough to get invested.

Really, IMO, it would be nice to have a season like Fourze again. Primarily because it was lighthearted, with some serious and thoughtful moments, but very much so a focus on being fun.

No, well, I would not say that this is directly Reiwa's problem. As if in Ex-Aid, right before the murder of Kiriya, this happened: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ikxXWfe-1Q. And, looking much further, perhaps in no season has the tone changed so much as in Kabuto. For the most part, it's just a desire to please all categories of viewers, and with 40+ episodes, I think you can safely single out 5 for clowning and still be remembered for a serious, dramatic show. Faiz is proof of that.

I feel like if the main rider really would be based on a fox, that it would be based on a kitsune as fish sandwich have said, with (this could only make sense) other japanese mythological creatures like a kappa or a kamaitachi for his upgrade/other forms, maybe for an evil form/hazard-esque form something like an orochi themed form. As for the rumored jiangshi rider, he would probably have other chinese mythological creatures like the chinese dragon or the chinese phoenix (fenghuang) as his upgrade/other forms. Perhaps the main theme/motif of geats will be about mythology from around the world, who knows? Even if so I am still interested and all ears for a space theme/motif, maybe even a combination of both.

I'm surprised Build is being ignored in this 'tonally weird' discussion as that show would constantly have jokes but also bw a show about the horrors of war and what it does to it's people. All I want is a show that makes me want to watch it weekly again, I only saw a few episodes of Saber as Overtime didn't work on it and I couldn't find a sub group I was satisfied with and I just didn't watch Revice at all

It's just that Build has been around for a long time and someone forgot his jokes because of the general history, and someone - the seriousness due to the lack of particularly graphic deaths (which, again, was both before him and after). As for me, you can understand exactly what tone the show has only after its completion, and then it will be for the most part only your own impressions. The question here is whether tone jumps are needed at all. I believe that in such long shows, they cannot be avoided, but within the same episode? For some, the same Poppy song, on the contrary, will enhance the contrast and make the subsequent death of the character more poignant; and someone, on the contrary, will interfere with taking this death seriously. Everything is very individual and you can not please everyone.
Therefore, if you really don?t like it, you can always skip the season :)

I love tonal whiplash personally, so the Ex-Aid Christmas episode is perfect for me!
