I think the ideal amount of Riders depends on the show, like, Saber and Geats wouldn't really work with only 2, whereas Kabuto and Revice could've cut out some of them for a cleaner narrative. Den-O, Double, OOO and Fourze are kind of weird for only having 2, but it totally works for them!

Bringing that point back to the topic of Zeztz, I'm curious about the identity of the Secondary Rider, this rumored Yezz guy. The rumor says it's Nox, but I noticed his actor is a little older than average, even older than Iwanaga as Birth. It would be a record-breaker if this is true.

I don't really believe in Nox as Yezz either. With his suit and hair he has the typical asshole villain vibe aka entry level boss. I can see a character like that becoming tertiary, but not secondary.

Good point. His bio describing him as the source of the Nightmare appearances sounds too villainous for a Secondary Rider. Not that we haven't had Secondaries start as villains before, but never as the main threat.

There's still the mystery of that Rider from Girls Remix II.

Zitt one is about real life/production stuff, where Ryuji Sato is a popular stage actor, and agency contract with Toei plays out, he has been consistently getting acting gigs for years now so Toei was happy to have the actor appear and tries to use his appearance as much as he can, like specific fights regarding him. Just saying that there can be numerous factors that apply into the show too aside from writing. I actually thought Parado should be able to regenerate because Bugsters are established to be able to do so.

I meant about how Hiiro feels bland and forgettable to watch, like Riders such as Mihara, Goto (for you at least), Yua, or Daiji (the hate is like Daiji pre-his heel turn for this though). I also think that the Brave lv. 50 debut was cool, but it's KR staple to have the debut fighting scene use flashy powers, but later on, they aren't utilized, resorting to simple choreography.

Maybe civilian will suffice, it's about perhaps general tragedy for ironic Christmas, not Riders.

We got Shizuka, Sara and Koyomi. Hasta la vista Aguilera. Best lineup so far, IMO.

Fair enough, but I would've preferred it if they found a way to integrate Jit in the story less superfluously and make him an actual character. He did get a better role than Samas at least, who betrayed and then died pathetically with nothing in between.

Bugsters, like all viruses, are able to regenerate by infecting a host and then jumping to a new host when the previous one gains immunity. Emu's immune system should've prevented Parado from infecting him a second time.

Hiiro has the cake cutting quirk though and Yua has the letter of resignation punch, which is at least more memorable than Mihara, Gotou and good guy Daiji, whose turn to insanity left a strong impression, but not a favorable one. Honestly though, I also think poorly about Hiiro and Yua, which is unfortunate since I think there was potential for them.

Or the sentient bike, which has precedent.

I'm glad it seems like they went with Shout for the English subtitles. In the back of my mind I was afraid Toei would go with machine translation, but Shout has been consistently excellent with their work on Rider and the promo they put on their Youtube channel looks to be as good as ever. With translation quality assured, I'm now locking in to stream it live. See everyone.in the episode threads next week!

I don't love having to watch the show on a specific day and time like a goddamn cave person, but I respect them going with Shout on this.

I imagine there's some weird copyright thing going on behind the scenes or something that's making them release it like this.

Let's see what happens. If Zeztz really does end up without a fan translation, it will be a blow to the current fan base. I can monitor the situation in my half of the internet and, if possible, help, but I hope it won't come to that.

I don't know why Toei can't let the show stream like they would with any other show? It's like they still want to keep Kamen Rider out of the states while still hoping to be successful.

Toei's run by complete dinosaurs who have no idea how the modern internet works, I'm dissapointed but not surprised.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's also a TV Asahi related issue too since they're pretty heavily involved in Rider.

That's fair. I suppose I'm a bit biased considering Toei has a hilariously depressing track record of going after anyone who uploads footage of their anime online or doing something they don't like (anyone remember when they made Funimation redub a scene in Dragon Ball Z after they found out Team Four Star was hired for some voice cameos?).

Yeah, there's really not much information to go off on why Zeztz is getting this treatment, and I'll acknowledge that Toei's hands might actually be tied through contracts, but, again, I wouldn't be surprised if this was out of Toei not fully understanding how modern media works.

With their anime shows, they let them stream on CR. Not sure why they can't do the same with Kamen Rider?

Crunchyroll doesn't do live-action, and Toei doesn't have another such partner. Shout! Factory is aiming to be one for tokusatsu, but the company itself is not of that caliber. And in general, this is more of a test broadcast, the results of which will influence the further decision.

They have the yearly airing Sentai and Rider shows in Japan anyways IIRC, plus, Amazons, Black Sun and Shin were all available in the west with subtitles.

Perhaps Toei will try it next year. Besides, Zeztz has already managed to attract hate because of AI and mixed feelings because of Takahashi, so adding Amazon's sins to this is too cruel.

I haven't really been keeping up with Zeztz but wasn't the AI only used for the teaser trailer?

It airs weekly on YT with the subs.

And it will repeat throughout the week until the new episode starts.
