I've always never been a fan of the whole "tell me what shows are bad/what episode to skip" kinda questions tbh.

Like, everyone's tastes are different. As much as people want to believe, there is just not such a simple thing as "this is a bad show". Everyone's tastes are different, and they can come out with different perspectives when watching the same show.

My advice is simple, take a good long look at the shows you haven't watched without the opinions of others clogging you down, and watch which ones you think look cool.

There is no time limit, there is no pressing situation that requires you to get it all done in a short amount of time. You have all the time in the world, don't feel like you've gotta rush.

I would recommend anyhing besides Ghost, Zi-O and Saber. Those three I really didn't like.

If I had to rank the rest (from most to least favorite):

- Build
- Zero-One
- Ex-Aid
- Revice
- Drive

But I can say all of those 5 are worth watching.

Geats is very good so far, could potentionally end up on the top of my list. Maybe catch up on Geats and then watch and discuss it weekly if that's what you like doing?

Thank you for this! I did enjoy a lot of what I watched for Build once I got over the goofiness of his powers and the way they clashed with the wider show around them. Seems like a good plan to catch up on Geats and then try Build again.

I suppose that much is true, I dunno how much revisionism there has been during my time away, but when I was active here, it seemed like I was the only person who didn?t like Kuuga or Gaim but LOVED Wizard.

But since I don?t have unlimited free time and I enjoy other hobbies, getting a general consensus is still helpful, as then I can be more confident I am not burning hours of time I could be using on something else, in the vague hope I end up enjoying the show I picked.

So like, this is always a hard question to answer for anyone, but I'll give it a shot. You could always finish the ones you watched those big chunks of, which might be easier than starting a whole new show. I could also say what I think of every season, but that's probably not going to help much, since:

Ghost I haven't started yet.
Drive I thought was good, but I didn't quite finish it.
Ex-Aid is a really good one, which most people seem to agree on.
Build was my first season, so it's definately high on my list
Zi-O is apparently hit or miss, but at least I liked it. (It's definately good for more than just Woz)
Zero-One is one of my favorites, though it has some rough spots.
Saber I have exactly one issue with, the rest is great. (To me, you don't have to watch it if you don't like it)
Revice was kinda okay. It didn't score high for me, but it's far from the worst series ever. (Not that you could tell from how people talk about it)
Geats is pretty good so far. It's shaking up the usual Rider formula a bit, which I think is fun.

Given your list, not only is it much less than 10 shows, but simply giving any given one a shot doesn't have to involve sitting down and binging them from start to finish. Just try a few episodes of a season, and if you're feeling it, go for it. If not, drop it.

Also, going with general consensus really isn't a great idea. Just try whatever you personally think sounds or looks good.

Most of the ones I watched a lot of, it was around the time of their airing, so quite a few years have gone by since, so I?d probably start all of them from scratch regardless.

From memory, I don?t think there has been any Toku show I?ve watched that has hit a level of quality or rhythm early on, and then remained there for the entirety of the show. I mean that both good and bad. I really enjoyed OOO overall, for example, but had I made a decision just on the first few episodes I would have never continued with that show.

tbh General Consensus is changing too.

There is no singular opinion that stays the same. People didn't like Wizard when it first started, but nowadays people love it. Gaim was considered a smash hit but nowadays I'm starting to see more and more people take issue with it.

It's not as black and white as people make it out to be. People grow, opinions change. I've always whenever recommending Kamen Rider, never go by what people think are "good or bad", I always ask what kind of theme and suits tickle their fancy and then shove that Rider in their face.

Unless they're gamers, then it's either Ex-Aid or Geats for a smoother transition.

I loved Ghost?s suit, but I hear that show sucks ass lol It seems to be one of the few modern Riders I have caught the consensus of (and it is negative, haha).

But yeah, I enjoyed what I saw of Ex-Aid, although I remember some of the later forms being horrible. I do actually think of what I have seen of Geats so far, it makes better use of gaming as a theme than Ex-Aid did, but maybe that is just because Ex-Aid was more old school gaming with a bunch of other random stuff mixed in for some reason.

Maybe Ex-Aid will be a good chaser for Geats after I catch up to that one.

I think its fair to ask around for opinions on shows, even if you don't align with the general consensus it can help to hear what people have to say when trying to pick out what to watch that might appeal to you.


That being said, the only two shows from that stretch I'd give a hard pass are Ghost and Revice, and even they have their charm. I have a tier list down in my signature if you are curious!


It might help people give better advice if you gave some details on what kind of shows you like the most and what elements you tend to love/hate in toku though.

Ex-Aid definitely is in your face gaming that's for sure, but the doctor theme is also very strong in the series and usually takes precedence.

Geats is very much the opposite lol, just with how the structure is organized makes it more game-like as well as how everything works. Granted, given that it was designed after stuff like Fortnite, PUBG, Fall Guys (They never cited this specific one but you look at the way it's structured and tell me otherwise), etc, probably helps a lot.
