What the heck were they even thinking with this one?

Upgrading Mortal Kombat IX (PS 3) this month. Has the 4 extra fighters in this version. I used to play a lot of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 on SNES.

I also play both Tekken 6 and Super Street Fighter IV quite a bit.

I have no idea why they bothered with MK vs DC. Not only was it just a bad game in general, but the MK characters were toned down far too much.
It was also the first in a trilogy that proved Netherrealm has no idea how to animate the Flash.
2 Injustices down and Flash still looks completely fucking stupid when doing combos.

No kidding there. Mortal Kombat IX was how the game should be in the first place. I'm playing it for now and will up switch when the Komplete Edition comes in. MK IX on PS 3 looks good actually. I was sort of trying to get the feel of the game for a few days. Story Mode in this one is strong however.

Mortal Kombat X and XI are on Play Station 4 darn it. I was hoping to play those.

That's how I felt too. Anime with too much fan serivce or moe stuff is why I feel like no one takes anime and manga seriously as an art form. I like fan service stuff from Go Nagai because Cutie Honey and Kekko Kamen have a colorful campy vibe to them. Meanwhile, High School of the Dead and High School DxD make cringe.

So I decided to give the magical genre genre a go after years of being a hardcore mecha and slice of life fan and the show I chose as an initial foray was...Symphogear.

Not gonna lie, I expected a lot of magical zappy action and cute familiars instead of song-powered armor and finding new ways to punch people in the face. Not that I'm complaining of course.

This...is a magical girl show right?

Ah yes, Symphogear. One of my favorite "magical girl" shows. It certainly is different and borders more on the tech side of things, but boy was it a good ride!

It's got the hallmarks, right? Innocent main character thrust into an unfamiliar world, the secondary character who initially is wary of the main character but becomes a valuable ally, and also the mysterious villain magical girl who may or may not be evil at all.

Really all we're missing is the cute familiar! :lol

But seriously, it's as magical girl as Kamen Rider Blade is a technology-based season. I finished all 5 seasons just least year in quick succession and it was a pretty good time. Credits to friends who talked about it all day!

I may or may not be obsessed with the activation hymns and the Swan Song. >.>

Oh man, I watched Symphogear late last year and it was an experience! I had a great time as a whole even if I thought GX was bad and AZX was just "okay". The other three seasons rocked my socks off. I'm a bit of an Akifumi Kaneko superfan (the only one in the West, pardner!), so it was really nice to experience his unique style once again. It had all his hallmarks... tokusatsu-stylings, mechs, Wild Arms references, lesbians, insane hot blooded energy, and a massively kitschy yet overwhelming earnest style. Aaaah, it was a fun time!

It wasn't my thing.

To anyone that has watched Fushigi Yuugi: are the OVAs worth it? 12 episodes into the TV series right now and am enjoying it a lot.

Also, had no idea that Symphogear was a magical girl series.

Tomb Raider II works on my PS2. Once I verify the other 4 I plan to get a couple of PS 1 controlers in March for my Play Station 2. The PS 2 controls are a tad flaky for PS 1 games.

PS 3 isn't backward compatible on PS 4. I looked.

As probably the residential Fushigi Yuugi fan, they can be worth it. Depends on how much more you want. There's two OVA sets. Both are sequel stories, so I can't go into detail about the events. But they're definitely worth watching if you want more content, but you can stop at the end of the series if you want. NGL, the OVAs do get a bit confusing, but they're still good.

And with the latest chapter of my fic, I have successfully emotionally destroyed two people that I know of.

Which is three people more than I was expecting when I started this project.

Thanks! I'm loving the series, so I'm sure I'll like the OVAs. What about Eikouden? I read that one is particularly bad, and is based on a novel not by the original manga-ka. Seen it be described as fan-fiction.

I'm almost finished with the 2nd Doctor (Netflix DVD rentals). I just need to watch The Invasion and a couple others. Also finish a few from the 3rd Doctor. Some lost mini series will be audio CD only from the 1st Doctor. This is due to footage not being found. Once I finish the 2nd and 3rd Doctors I may buy Doctor Who DVDs starting with the 4th Doctor. Episodes may be missing from the 1st 2 Doctors.

I would also like to play some PS1 RPGs after April possibly.

Ah....Eikouden. I was counting that as one of the two OVAs. It's....well, the description you gave it pretty decent of what it feels like. It's not that great, and it definitely muddies the water of things. But if you want something brimming with drama, that's the one you want. Granted the regular OVA has plenty of drama. *looks at Chichiri* Plenty. Of. Drama.

Gonna give the OVAs a watch after I finish the series.

So I finished the first season of Symphogear, and I gotta say it was just as I expected. I mean, I didn't have any grandoise expectations for it in the first place but it wasn't exactly better than I expected either. It was still a wild ride regardless and I had a blast watching it.

Moving on to Symphogear G next, hoping I enjoy this one too.

Like, if you want to make a Beetleborgs stuff it has to be based on the TV series, any new stuff is a litlle bit murky, as from what I heard when Superman becomes public domain it only means his depiction in Action Comics 1 are allowed, meaning later stuff still can't.

After being on HRT for almost two months, I already found myself crying like a bitch at times. I even cry after work because I was worried if something happen to my dog at home, I won't be there to see her.

Not too familiar with HRT but do you stay overnight sometimes for it?

Thank Godoka Almighty, I finished Sailor Moon SuperS. It had a decent endgame but overall just mediocre at best, and you've got a set of villains for the first half that stick around way too long and are just creepy in all the wrong ways.

You'll stabilize as time goes on, don't feel too bad.

On the other hand I don't think I had much difficulty, then again I have the emotional range of a pincushion.

Hmmm, maybe I should consider giving Symphogear a shot. But on another note, I've been watching Kaijin Kaihatsubu no Kuroitsu-San (Miss Kuroitsu and the Monster Development Department), and have been finding it an enjoyable show, but the best thing about it are the Japanese Local Hero cameos. One of these days I'll find Dogengers....

I'm starting Sailor Moon R in 6. The print I have is full screen unlike the Viz release. I got this due to having Sailor Moon Sailor Stars (previously not released in the USA.) As for Pokemon this set is full screen. I'm watching Advanced (Series VI) on DVD. I did see series I of Yu Gi Oh from the 90s on DVD. I would like to see the rest soon.

Man, if there's one "good" thing about chemo, it's the weight loss. Although it's more like super forced diet and constant agony.

Saw Doctor Who XXXVIII Revolution Of The Daleks today. Doctor Who XXXIX Flux ships in next and there will be 3 final specials this year tio finish. The 13th Doctor , Yaz , Ryan and Grahm will be missed. The boys aren't in Flux.

Yeah. Ryan and Grahm's actors both said they were leaving after the season proper was finished.

I own all of Doctor Who Generation II (Starting with Rose) on DVD so I had wanted to finish the 13th Doctor's run. Hopefully they release the 3 specials for 2022 so I can fill her run in. Eve Of The Daleks had just aired with Legend Of The Sea Devils coming up on Easter.

I have been feeling a lot happier too. Last week, I felt like I was on a roller coaster ride of emotions. I was basically acting like a middle schooler all over again. Looking at myself in the mirror made me feel sad because I hate that I still look like a guy and I still don't have feminine features like breasts. Even when I put make-up on, I still look like a dude.
