Now that I've finished Faiz. (which I found to be pretty darn good!) I've started rewatching OOO. I was watching it as it aired but dropped off around the 25th or so episode because of real life stuff getting in the way. This time I'm going to finish it for sure! Only a couple of episodes in so far but I'm having about as much fun as I remember having the first time around. |

Gentaro is fun, but he can sometimes ruin tension. It's not like the WizarDriver completely effing over an entire dramatic scene, but sometimes Gentaro's reaction to what just happened seems too forced, almost like he's in denial, but he's not. He's just surprisingly okay with what just went down.

That said, I thought the acting in the series was fine, although I am gaging that more in a comparison to what Power Rangers has to offer because comparing these tiny budget niche kids dramas and the casts of unknowns they have to other mediums with more recognised actors is a little unfair. Still with THAT SAID it looks like it isn't all Oscars on the original side either, as shows like Kuuga showcased some absolutely terrible acting. |
Blade 4 and 5
All these things/people spontaneously combusting reminds me of Ghostbusters 2. Though, I suspect it's an Undead at work. Speaking of which, whoever released the Undead...had the goal of gaining eternal life, eh? Makes sense, I suppose. Even if the Undead aren't really undead and just...various monstrosities. Kenzaki's probably the most superhero-y out of all of the main riders I've seen so far. Parents die in fire when he was young, since then he vowed to save everyone. Pretty cool, all in all. Also, I'm highly unsurprised that Koutaro spilled Kenzaki's identity to his little sister... Hajime getting weird psychic messages from some Undead, presumably. That can't bode well for him... Hajime seems like a pretty good guy too. Even if he is bizarrely 100% more antisocial when he's in his Rider state. I also liked that Kenzaki figured out Hajime's identity fairly quickly. It'd be kind of annoying to have a dozen episodes with him having no idea who the third Rider was when it's that obvious. I know Tachibana's angry and all because he slowly dying...but if he was willing to ask for help, it seems like things'd go easier for him... Also, I've mentioned this before, but it's really a nice change of pace to have these fights all in different locations that aren't a city. I like fights in a city, I don't mind them at all. But there's been...snowy hills, caves, beaches, forests. I like the variety. I guess it's all because it's in a rural type area. |

In the meantime I'm watching some Blade as well. Never having seen it, I'm curious to see how it plays. |

Blade 6
Ah, the theme song's stuck in my head, finally. Been wondering when it would happen in this Blade. Anyway, the chief still lives. I figured as much. And Tachibana's problem is literally all in his head. Though...he could still die from it unless he conquers his fear. Which might be why the other Rider's aren't experiencing this problem. Well, Hajime isn't even human but whatever. Might be a little hard to conquer any fear though, when some creepy dude in shades is floating outside your window, glaring at you. Mysterious guy with shades also seems to know the Rider's identities. I'm going to guess and assume he's working with those mystery dudes in the vans, chasing after the chief. Hajime seems to have been there during Amane and Koutaro's father's dying moments. So either he just happened to find him while he was dying...Or he was involved somehow...Hmm. And now I know what Tachibana's Rider name is...Garren. It was probably mentioned before, but I never caught it. But that was a pretty suspenseful cliffhanger. The main character kidnapped.... |
I actually liked that Tachibana's issue is mostly just all in his head. It's a level of depth that both expands beyond 2 episodes as well as greater characterization than other secondary riders receive.

*Than others, not that others :lol
Anyway, I agree. I do have to say it felt like the Mutsuki stuff dragged, but otherwise, it balanced the 3 riders quite well. Aside from Garren sometimes bamfing in just for a fight scene than having no impact other than "He showed up to fight", it really felt like the characters were still growing beyond their significant character arc. |
OOOs 3, once again nothing really stood out to me. I guess it's hard when I'm watching this alongside Fourze which is unlike anything Rider related I've seen so far.
Then again I really like Ankh, even if the actor himself is hideous :lol And it's still great fun watching Os fight. |

Back to Ryuki: Man this girl is thick. So she leaps to the conclusion that her beloved brother is a villain, but when Ryuki gives her evidence that Batchump is suspicious, including how he attacked Ryuki like an asshole, (which she witnessed and had to scream at him and threaten to leave him to make him stop) she's like "bullshit how could you say that he's pure and wonderful."
This chick is dumb. Granted, she has more grounds here since the guy she just met is saying the guy she's known for a while is a bad guy, but she saw Batbrain attack Ryuki, knows he's hostile and arrogant. Maybe she's just in denial and this is going to turn into Kamen Rider Montel Williams in a moment? Also I find it funny that someone said they didn't like Dragon Knight because of the bad acting, a legitimate point, but Ryuki hardly fairs better. So far at least. They're pretty hammy or the typical "I'm being stern so I'll just make a neutral face and hold it for a while or sometimes open my mouth then close it." Also, I just noticed Batfart has very, very faint blue eyes underneath his visor. That's a nice touch. |
The worst part about Fourze so far is Shun but he is clearly intended to be a moronic douchebag who is so unlikeable you can taste the bile, so they achieved exactly what they wanted to achieve then. This has been a great series so far, even despite a lot of shit said about it, but then again I like a lot of series other people rag on.

I already ate my words by episode 8 :lol what a great episode!
Miu has been kinda...there up until now but the fact that she jumped in the Power Dizer and saved Gen in it increased my respect for her tenfold. Same with Shun, although I don't agree with his reactions, I can perfectly relate to his problems. In many senses, I think that may be why I still love high school settings so much, I may be an adult but I haven't started a career yet, I don't have kids and I'm not married so I can relate to the lives and problems of characters in high school settings better than I can others. And yes things like trying to get out of your Dad's shadow and living up to their expectations may feel like a first world problem and something not worth building a character around but to me that character feels more tangible to me then when I'm trying to bond with a character who say...has come back from the war and is dealing with survivors guilt. Sure that makes for a better story but how many of us can really truly understand what they are going through? |
All this talk of Fourze is really making me want to watch it again, however I know that if I do I'll have even more disdain for Wizard.
After all, Shun is still the main reason I hate Haruto :lolol |
So far I've really enjoyed this series despite a lot of haters for it in the thread, I'm enjoying it a lot more than OOO which I am watching alongside it.

Well, that and Yuuki's rapid descent into total madness. |

Meanwhile I checked out OOO episode four and it's just not clicking for me. Fourze really stands out to me because of its sci-fi focus, rather than fantasy, and the choice to set it in a high school. OOO just feels a lot like Wizard and both OOO and Wizard feel like quirkier, jokier versions of Kuuga. I'm gonna keep going for a bit, to see if the relationship between Eiji and Ankh smooths out because if that relaxed and stopped feeling so forced I'm sure my enjoyment will improve. I'm also intrigued to learn more about how all this medal stuff works as welll. Speaking of Fourze, I'm really enjoying seeing the command centre take shape and feel like a home. Plus I love episode nine's new switch 'Gatling', he had a gatling gun...on his leg...awesome! Plus Fire States is much cooler looking than the electric one. |
Amazon 15 and I'm beginning to worry if I'm about to lose interest in this show. Replacing the villain cast after 14 episodes seems a bit much in a 24 episode series, and this new bunch seem a lot more like generic Showa villains (with stupid looking henchmen). Amazon himself has gotten more generic now that he can seemingly talk properly too, which brings me on to my next question - if he's learnt to talk during the course of his series, why have we gone back to the broken speech version for the Legendary 7 appearances? Was he more popular like that?
Still, I'll persevere with the show and begin campaigning we get a Mole beastman figuart one day. ChuuChuu! |
I think Amazon returns to the more limited speech because that's how he's more recognizable.

I just thought it wouldn't be up your alley, but I loved Fourze! |

Back to Den-O today--I'm in the mid-20's--Sieg and Zeronos have both shown up, they're pretty cool. Nice to use this show as a palate cleanser between the "heavier" Rider shows I've been watching recently.
I did love Deneb's "Let me say this: . . .I have nothing to say." :) |
