Yeah to be fair I was pretty unimpressed with my first Figuart back when, anyone remember the Marvel Legends toys? Figuarts are practically the same concept, only not actually as well made (since you could actually play with the Legends) going for collectors prices.
I know Legends didn't come with all the hands and accessories and stuff but with all the hype the actual build quality of most Figuarts isn't actually that much better than any other figure. |
You have to remember that, before Figuarts were first released, your options for Kamen Rider figures were:
The scarce and unreliably scaled Souchaku Henshin, the 12 inch and incredibly expensive Project BM figures, or the small vinyl figures. There may have been others, but those 3 were pretty much it before Figuarts. |
I don't consider Marvel Legends all that well made. Their necks were very distracting and took away from the character. Mattel did a great job with DC Universe Classics (well, most of it), but I still think Figuarts are vastly superior. I guess if you are referring to drop testing them, then yes, Marvel Legends would be fine compared to Figuarts, but I don't drop test my figures. I did that as a kid and now wish I hadn't.

These things are very nice for their scale and price. I keep it in mind when I'm buying them that they are just toys not the people in suits they represent. And I don't buy SHF's based on the pictures on the box so if it's doing something crazy on there I don't really care :lol |

The problems I have are easily fixable problems that don't exist in other figures. Limited hands count, joint tolerances, stuff that I know isn't that hard to fix. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the SICs which may cost more, but are damn near perfect. |

Literally ANY toyline has problems with joint tolerances and QC problems at some point. Any production run of anything will inevitably have issues, it's just the nature of mass production. I can't help that your basing your opinion on the only 2 older releases you've had the chance to handle rather than looking at the line as a whole. Seriously you're expecting too much out of these things for their price and scale. |

Even now-a-days, while some Figuarts do have little problem, it doesn't ruin the entire figure. Even releases that weren't as popular, like Red Buster and the OOO releases, are still really good toys despite their set-backs.
Like others have said, dumping on a whole line based on two of its first releases while also saying that SIC, which started with poor QC and fragility, is a perfect line shows you need way more experience handling figures from both lines, both older and newer releases, before making a hard conclusion. Both have pros and cons. |

Also when I compared it to SICs I was only comparing just in quality and articulation. Obviously I wasn't comparring accuracy, that'd be silly. Quote:

I'm just expecting my dissapointement because two pieces I was super excited for turned out to be (in the case of W more than Sieg) toys I'm never going to touch. It really sucks when you basically flush $30 down the toilet because the toy doesn't even achieve the basics of being a toy. Also, if you had actually read the majority of what I've said instead of jumping to rash assumptions of what I think, then you'd know that I'm not basing my opinion of the line overall off of the two I own. In fact I've explicitly stated my next Figuarts purchase is going to be Ryuki, since it's a newer release that's more likely to accurately represent the line so I'm told. (even though I don't know anythign of Ryuki) Quote:

And I even said over and over I like Sieg a lot, but I guess that doesn't count? |
Well, to be fair, a lot of the early SICs were trash. Very much "Display, don't touch" having articulation but poor stability and even worse construction.
I'm not sure when Figuarts date back (I think '08? Maybe '09?), but SIC has had more time to make and perfect their figures. |

Also, if you wanted to be absolutely fair, early SIC construction is fairly imfamous, yet Figuarts have supposedly been awesome all along. |

And while SIC figures are nice but they also have QC issues and design flaws. Just like any other toyline. Like the wings on my SIC TaJaDor that won't stay plugged in at all. OR the loose ankles on SIC TaToBa that make it completely necessary for him to use a tamashii stage. And those are new releases. Look at SIC's from 5 or 6 years ago and you see a significant quality drop. SIC isn't perfect either man. Take the good and the bad, every figure can't possibly be just as good as every other figure. I'm just saying how it felt to me that when I got into this line, hearing all these great things about it, and the first figure I got was meh and the second figure I got has weird quality issues. I never said it doesn't deserve the praise it gets, just that it stinks that I happen to get the worst figures of the line first. You and everyone else have completely overblown the simplest of reactions into, what, that I'm trying to, like, slander Figaurts' good name or something? Quote:

Again, look at what has actually happened here. I said I was dissapointed in the figures I got. I never said anything about Figuarts as a whole, only referenced their popularity. Not once did I ever say, ever even come so close as to imply, that the line overall was somehow underserving. I merely lamented that the figures I own were not good compared to what I've heard, and every single person has agreed with me on that. So I'm not even sure what you're talking about or what the problem even is. I'm not saying Figuarts is bad overall, I never even implied that, and if you think I did, well sorry but you are wrong. |

That's why Sieg's legs bug me. If they're loose and like to fall off now, what happens as time goes on?

Pose him on his hands and call it a variant.

Just bought a Flame Style off of Amazon for slightly more than I wanted to pay but it was sold out everywhere else.
Is this the figure that is meant to be really shit? Or is that Flame Dragon? Either way I don't mind if it has loose joints or squeaky limbs as I just pose mine on my shelf. |

However I'm in the minority and think its one of the best Rider figuarts I own, so each to their own I guess. |
Wonky proportions? And as long as the Driver doesn't fall off when it's chilling on the shelf I will be fine.

And no, it'll be fine when it's in a static pose. |
Doesn't sound too bad then! I'll look forward to its arrival.
Oh yeah I also made an offer on Ebay for Kuuga's base Pegasus Form. They were offering it for over a hundred dollars (!) but AmiAmi have it on there for around 2, 000 yen although it is sold out. So I offered them 25 dollars, whether they take the offer is unlikely considering how much they had it on there for but if I know I can one day get it for around twenty dollars on AmiAmi I'll never forgive myself for paying over a hundred dollars for it on eBay. If they reject it I might offer 30 dollars but I won't go any highr. |
There's one on Mandarake for $25.

I was actually cringing at the possibility of you getting ripped off that badly.
I love the Kuuga Figuarts, but they're nowhere near worth $100 :lol |
Oh I wouldn't pay that much either.
I've never used Mandrake before, but according to the very broken, engrishy email I have to wait three days to make sure there is stock? *sighs and stares at Gmail* |

This is like the most exciting day of my life!
In other Figuarts news, now I actually got myself a Flame Style and hopefully this Pegasus Form I cancelled all my other preorders. Well except my one on AmiAmi since I don't know how to cancel that. Now if only I could find a Rising Dragon Kuuga that isn't in the joint pack with Rising Pegasus Kuuga for silly money... |
I think I've asked this before but are they rest of the Go-Busters team worth getting? I don't know if I'd get the buddyroids but since yellow comes with hers I'd want to stay consistent. haha. They are plentiful on Mandarake right now and their prices seem to be decreasing slowly. Just not sure whether or not they would be worth getting since I have about 7 other Figuarts pre-ordered right now.
Also, I think I missed the Kiba-Ranger pre-orders. Are there any Canadian-friendly sites that still have him? |

Still no word from Mandrake! :(
So Mandrake have replied now...and the postage is 15 quid! That is a fiver away from the actual toy, I'm not sure I'm willing to pay over thirty quid for Pegasus, I kind of expect that from like Amazon who rip you off but Jesus. It didn't make clear what the postage was so I just went with EMS, is that like the most expensive shipping option or is Mandrake just very expensive to buy from anyway? And if there is a cheaper option am I able to change my postage choice? |
