As long as it doesn't look like someone filmed themselves watching it :lol
|
That one's a straight upload from TV Nihon, who I dislike, but its better then not watching it at all I think.
|
Yeah that is great man. I tried getting the one from OT, but even the one on KRDL is like a three gig file and with my internet I'll probably have to leave my computer on for like a week.

Gokaiger 15. Oh man you don't leave someone like Marvelous a Time Fire and a Dragon Ranger key, I can't wait to see him come back with a vengeance next episode.
I'm gonna be honest, with all that eye makeup and the feather boa I was ready to write Basco off. They could get away with camp villains in 80s sentai, because in 80s sentai they were also allowed to MURDER EVERYONE. But just when I was about done, he summoned a fucking sixth Ranger army! ALL OF MY YES. Although it was kinda weird how much more punishment the girls got over the men. I mean look at poor Ahim, pulled up by her hair before being repeatedly punched in the face. While we're on the topic of that crew, what is with AkaRed's voice? You think the Megaforce ADR is bad, wait until you hear the 12 year old that apparently broke into the recording studio when recording this guys lines. Still really loving the Gokaiger dynamic, the subtle touches like when Joe places a hand to Marvelous' back, a split second barely registered movement which shows how comfortable they are in depending on one another. I do have to say though that the chick who plays Luka is not exactly the best actress in the world. I guess surrounded by two subdued characters, and two more comic relief like ones someone so weirdly in the middle is bound to stand out. |

I think the campiness is a real asset to the character; he's completely ruthless, malicious, arrogant, ludicrously powerful and evil yet he acts so perky and happy and looks so un-threatening the whole time. It sort of makes him feel more threatening. He's probably my favourite character of the show besides Don, Luka and Warz Gill.
Warz Gill is hated by many but I loved him. He makes me laugh all the time. |
I get what they are doing, but it doesn't mean I like it. I like cool villains, like I still pertain that Juuzo is one of the best villains in the franchise. He was utterly no nonsense, and had a rocking suit design and I just appreciated there wasn't any real catch.

But eitherway, Basco is not in Super Megaforce so there's no way you could like the Super Megaforce Basco better and the idea that anyone could like Argus is better then Barizorg is frankly ridiculous to me. I am the opposite though, I think Gokaiger had perfect villains. Warz Gill is hilarious and his incompetency is made up by Damaras and Barizorg's presence. Barizorg gives us an excellent story and character arc for Blue, Damaras is an indisputable badass and when he finally joins the fight directly shit gets real and Insarn works well both in comedic and serious episodes. Basco is an excellent character and adds a sense of urgency that wasn't there prior to the race for the Grand Powers. The only complaint I'd have is I found Achudos Gill and Dairando a little boring and missed Warz Gill and Barizorg a lot, but I think it was necessary for Achudos Gill to be quiet and ruthless in order to contrast his son and the emperor arriving on Earth was a needed plot point story-wise. |

Most don't care for the Zangyack but they aren't as bad as people make them out to be. Warz Gill was a whiny spoil brat but he just wanted to prove to his father that he could conquer a planet without the assistance of others. Also the dynamic he had with Barizog was one that was unique. Warz considered him as friend more than he did as his bodyguard and how hurt Warz was when he learned of his death proved that. |
Honestly so far the only villain I really like is Insarn, just because she was so damn good in that Carranger episode. But then who wasn't?

Been thinking of Magiranger and Zyuranger, but watching them at the same time, since I've heard REALLY bad things about Zyuranger and good things about Magiranger, though I should probably finish up Hibiki then do those two.

ZyuRanger's only true weakness is its child of the week plots, but it makes sense in the context of Bandora's overall goal. The ranger cast is strong, but Blue, Yellow, and Black are gypped when it comes to development. The plot is great though, and everything with Dragon Ranger is nothing short of amazing. It is my ninth favorite Sentai for a reason. MagiRanger's has a million weaknesses, such as the ranger cast is lackluster (I really hate MagiGreen) and there is a lot of CGI used during the fights. The villains are the highlight of the show, especially those in the last arc. Both are worth watching, but ZyuRanger succeeds more than it fails while MagiRanger fails more than it succeeds. |
Gokaiger 16. It's hard to ignore all the similarities between this and One Piece. One Piece is huge in Japan so I wondered if that influenced it.
God I love these characters - Joe's silent guardian routine especially is growing on me so much. I've not been all that impressed with the villains - although Insarn during that Carranger episode was wonderful, but what wasn't wonderful about that episode? - so it's nice to get someone like Basco. Equally it turns out Akared is pretty boss, ridiculous voice and all. Sadly the fight scenes were a little underwhelming, I get that they need to tone down the sixth Rangers because otherwise the Gokaiger would die instantly, but who knew an army of ten Sixths could be so boring? I guess the director of this episode loved MagiRanger as MagiShine is the only sixth in Basco's arsenal to really put up a fight. |

Remember though, Kain loves Dairanger, which is a sentai show with zero plot or character development so I guess he just likes that kinda thing.
|
Zyuranger to me was just pretty boring when it wasn't focusing on an actual story like in the beginning when they had to gather all of their equipment, Burai, or towards the end of the show. Outside of those, everything else got pretty boring. There were some entertaining episodes, but a lot were pretty dulll.

Basicly, Gokaiger is big on the 'it's the people, not the powers, that make the hero' line of thinking. Animated Ranger keys just can't compete with actual people. |

Also a shame that it's all about the people, but minus the Space Police and the Guardian Angels pretty much EVERY sentai has been the utter opposite of proactive, while people make excuses for Rangers who could clearly be helping like Kai and Flagel, GaoRed and his Power Lion, or GekiRed and his super martial arts and there are probably cameos I've already forgotten, as pretty much all of them beside the DekaRanger and Carranger cameo episodes have been entirely throwaway so far, other than when Kai forced character moments out of the Gokaiger. |
There's not really an explanation for why Basco's summons are weaker than the real deals, just the simple equation of 'power+proper user > power used as a bad guy's puppet'. Basco's DiendTrumpet just can't get the same amount of power out of the keys as someone actually wearing the suit.
I was always okay with the non-fighting roles of the cameos because I figured the past Sentai had to have a reason for letting the Gokaiger keep their powers instead of just asking for them back. Especially considering that repowering the past Sentai is just a matter of giving the appropriate key back. Do you really think so many past Rangers would be okay with not getting their powers back if there wasn't some advantage to Marvelous and crew having them all? |
Well Megaranger 01:
So a video game based Sentai? I loved it! I don't know why I just did,,sure pacing could be better but, I came into this with lower expectations since Gaim came into my life. So a good episode and hopefully the rest of the series holds up. |

Anyway, finished 199 Heroes and now I really wanna rewatch Goseiger, I missed my favourite angels so much! Gonna put a more indepth review on my Letterboxd in the next hour or so, which you'll be able to find by clicking the link under my sig if you're interested. |
I never had a problem with the rangers not being active after losing their powers. It's not like they run away from monsters, it's just that they're not on the front line anymore.
Concerning Basco's summons being weaker than the real thing, it's rather simple. The summons are just puppets. They make no decisions. They have no mind. They have a goal, they follow that goal. That's it. Of course the rangers would win. The summons have to rely on superior numbers and the OP-ness that many 6th/Other Rangers tend to have. |

It's still a good series (I feel), but everyone calling it a game based Sentai is lying :lol |

Oh you mean those early episodes where Ryu spent the whole episode not knowing what was going on before immediately transforming and fighting as if he had been a Ranger all his life completely undermining and contradicting the whole episode?
Saying any of them grew is laughable. Actually I am laughing, right now. |
wi just download the first 6 episode of abaranger subbed

And yeah Dairanger really wasted Jin, which was a shame as he was cool. |

Yeah I swear there should have been a team of Evil Dairangers. |
Well 2 and 3 of Megaranger and well it was fun and probably more MEGA jokes. *Looks at my signature*.
But yeah these were fun episodes and I think this series might be on my way to being my favorite, next to like Shinkenger, ToQ. So ya good set of episodes. |

Basco, Juuzo and possibly Radiguet (because he was a special kind of F'd Up) are my picks for "best Sentai villains". Honourable mention to Wolzard, mostly because of his awesome suit and mecha but then he became a Magiranger...
I'm also currently watching Megaranger. MegaSilver just got introduced and honestly meh at that episode. It was a pretty low-key introduction for a sixth but I'll reserve judgement for now until he's given some real time to shine. It's a nice change of pace to have an adult Megaranger, though. I'm still enjoying the cast a lot though and am definitely glad I picked up the series. |
I'm pretty positive the world knows my picks for best Sentai villains :lol
Anyway, Mega Silver was an odd one for me. He was both one of my favorites and one of my least favorites. When he got the chance to be himself, to act out, be eccentric, etc, he was great. But when he's just there as filler for a fight scene, he's rather annoying. |
