It is technically accurate to the first appearance in Black and later Taisen appearances, as oppose to the first mould which was closer to the suit used during action scenes. That being said, the differences are incredibly miniscule. As for me, I will purchase Renewal Shadow Moon since I missed out on the reissue, but I do agree that there are other figures that need renewals far far more than Nobuhiko, like W. Hell, AkibaRed S1 is in more need than SM. Not to mention characters that deserve figures in general like the often brought up Kiva, or even J or about a dozen Metal Heroes. |
Getting a Renewal of a figuart that was already perfectly fine over the LAST rider we need to complete the Heisei riders is pretty ehhhh
|
Since we're on the topic, I think Shadow Moon benefits from the renewal. The improvement in his head sculpt and torso proportion is excellent. I'm a very detail oriented person, so I'm probably focusing on things others won't but why turn down a better product? Bandai will get to the other riders. They are always surprising us.

Regardless of slight inaccurate details, at least the figure itself is still recognizably Shadow Moon and pretty much spot-on from a distance while still holding up beautifully to current Figuarts release. The other ones I mentioned? Not so much. I just think it'd be best for them to prioritize Riders that haven't been done and Riders who actually NEED the treatment before they start trying to correct minor details that many people wouldn't even notice. As it stands, the only people who I can see buying this would be people who never owned the original Shadow Moon (me) or people who are extremely anal about detail, and even then, I feel like the feet on the new one are actually more inaccurate. I just think Shadow Moon is one of those figures where if we never saw a Renewal for it, people would have been perfectly fine with it. |
What makes the Shadow Moon renewal pointless to me in my opinion is that they just reissue him last year. The last time I check that you can still find and buy him at retail. If there was more demand for Shadow Moon then they could have give him another reissue. I don't think Tamashii Nations has reissue limit since they are reissuing Ultraman renewal for the third or forth time.

http://i62.tinypic.com/15yx9nm.jpg Episode 35: Showdown! The Two Princes. About 15:20 if you're curious. I don't think they used 'em a lot in the series. I'm assuming they were really awkward to work with, so they got relegated to scenes with SM walking or just standing around. |
Hey Guys I know this is unrelated to the current topic of who should get a renewal, but I'm looking to try and collect some figuarts, but I don't exactly know what figures to get, so any recommendations?

Any Gaim Figuarts - similar to Ryuki's, overall a solid bunch. With Bluefin not importing anything, unfortunately these won't necessarily be cheap. Kabuto renewal - big upgrade from the original G3X - Nice figure with a nice accessory count, was re-released not that long ago and has become quite cheap to acquire Any Blade Figuarts - the four main riders have all been released at retail and the recent exclusives can all be had for not-bad prices. Similar quality in all to the Ryuki/Gaim Figuarts. Wizard Infinity Style - prettiest of the Wizard Figuarts, and free of the QC issues that affected Wizard Flame Style |
