From the way your MegaRanger recaps went, I thought you hated Silver :lol

As the show went on, he got tolerable to the point of becoming my 2nd favorite behind Blue :lol

No they didn't. Jin appeared as much as he was needed. They didn't over do him the same way they did not over do Basco. The problem with Sentai series today is when they bring in someone new, they tend to force him into the show when more does not equal better. It's like the whole sixth ranger thing. It was something special when Dragon Ranger, KibaRanger, or VRV Master appeared. Today, that specialness is gone as the sixth ranger is pretty much in every episode from the moment he appears.

And I can say the same thing to you about Go-Buster as none of those characters had grown at all throughout the series.

I'd go with Radiguet and Enter, personally. Plus Bandora because she's fun as all hell. I always thought Basco was good, but overrated.

I'm six episodes into Sun Vulcan and the villain, Hell Saturn, is decent, we really don't get enough time with him to see if there's any depth at all, but he just brought back to the main villain from Denziman, Queen Hedrian (Machiko Soga, who plays Bandora) and I flipped, it's pretty cool Sun Vulcan is a "sequel". Now I just wish there were Denziman subs out there so I could have watched that first.

Yeah I've enjoyed Sun Vulcan a lot. I need to get back to it but I also wish that Denziman was subbed too.

My favorite villains so far are the Kyoryuger Villains, the Battle Fever J ones especially the girl because she is an assassin who killed JFK, Liveman's villains, The two generals of GaoRanger, Rio, and Enter so far.

I've watched more Rider than Sentai so far.

Now you're just flat out lying. Go-Busters may not have been a perfect show, but the characters were beautifully written. Although Enter may well be the most overrated villain of all time, as he did so little, I have no idea why everyone acts like he' this amazing villain.

Saying any of them grew is laughable. Actually I am laughing, right now. :lol

Different strokes for different folks, but making stuff up and then being childish is just sorta sad.

A lot of it was in Syo Jinnai's fantastic performance, but Enter had charisma, a great design, went from being a lacky to eventual big bad, had some badass twists involved in his plans and was evil to the very end. That's enough to tip him to the top for me.

Redeemable villains usually have a lot more depth to them, but sometimes I just want a human(oid) villain that's just evil. Which is another reason why Basco was great.

I did enjoy his performance a lot, I thought both him and Escape were a lot of fun, I just didn't think they were some world changing set of villains. I really did like Enter's Red Buster and Messiah forms a lot too, although that sort of repainted paintball outfit left a lot to be desired and the Red Buster form was utterly wasted.

That said the "twists" were what ruined the show for me, it was sloppy, unfocused and all over the place.

Yeah but Basco lacked the charisma Enter had. If the guy who played Enter, played Basco then he would have been a truly great villain. The guy who played Basco really felt annoying.

I have only seen the first 18 or so episodes of Go-Busters and I love every time I've seen Enter.

The best part of Basco was how he died.

No way. If there's one thing Basco has its charisma.

I think your problem is flamboyance, but that does not negatively affect charisma even in the slightest way. Basco's actor did an amazing job with his character; the personality and design of Basco makes a flamboyant actor a necessity.

Gokaiger 17.

I'm so confused, where'd that super Goseiger power come from? They never gave them that in the movie? And when they ask that guy about sentai, why'd he look so confused, the movie appears to be canon so how did anyone miss like forty robots fighting in between the cities buildings? Honestly everyone already knew what super sentai was in that movie anyway, enough that toys have been made of them IN UNIVERSE. Gah the continuity of this show hurts so much.

Gai's imaginary roll call was down right hilarious, this show seems to have such a firm grasp of its characters and I love how they can have so much fun with them. BANG! Not really sure how I feel about the Gokai Silver suit though, the helmet looks oddly plain and that silver looks really tacky. It just doesn't look as nice as those core suits, but they're hard to beat really.

Still, his first fight was fantastic. He has loads of energy, the Gokai Spear is cool and from what little we've seen of Gai the suit actor captures him well. Plus, seeing the rest of the Gokaiger change into sixth rangers was fun, even if I was disappointed by the lack of Luka calling herself spectacular even when she turned silver.

Wow the Zangyack really showed how villainous they are this episode, huh? I'm guessing Damaras is gonna be the clichéd villain with honour? I just find him distracting as he looks so much like Utopia from W.

In a later recap Gai explains that the Super Sentai cameos that appeared to them before forming the Super Sentai Bazooka gave them their Great Powers (although Goranger, Dairanger, Goseiger and Go-Onger are the only ones the Gokaiger specifically use in the series). I think it was just an excuse to get some of the less popular seasons (read: Goggle Five) Great Powers without needing a tribute episode but still having cameos. Although some Great Powers they got during the movie, like the Go-Onger and Dairanger aren't "activated" until they actually do get tribute episodes.

I think he's just completely aware of how incompetent Warz Gill is and disapproves of his willingness to kill soldiers on a bad gamble.

I guess a big marketing cannon is better than giving their Mecha ribbons and a bad paint job.

Personally, I love Warz Gills, just because he gives someone the audience can love to hate. He's such an incompetent worm, who is completely irredeemable but also utterly pathetic. I can't wait to watch him die, and I hope it's painful for him.

Aw, I found Gekiranger subs on Youtube. Now I have the ability to watch Gekiranger again.

Anyway, I'd update about Go-Busters, but not enough has been happening for me to really make comments on. It's not as bad as I remember, thankfully, but it's still rather uneventful...

I like Gokai Silver's helmet and its variation on the pirate theme. Where the core Gokaigers' helmets are based on tri-corner pirate hats, Silver's is based on a good old pirate bandanna. If you look at it from the back, the buckle is even designed to look like a knot.

It might not be the greatest looking on its own, but I love it within the context of the team.

Gokaiger 18. I wish I could join their crew :(

Even if Gai dresses like Shunpei I really like him, and I especially love how the crew play off of him both out of suit but also in it. I love how he actually feels like an outsider, even when they accept him, as they wouldn't just immediately function as a well oiled machine without any training or practice. I also really love how Marvelous gets the keys wrong. It's the little things that make this show really wonderful. Honestly minus some continuity niggles, and a bad standalone episode here or there, this is probably the most consistently fantastic a sentai has ever been for me. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this show.

Speaking specifically about Gai, I love him too. From the fact that he's comic relief, but also a badass and despite those two things seemingly being opposites the blend of his two halves work together perfectly. Plus, what an epic backstory! I'm also not a big mech guy, but GoZyu is probably my new favourite giant robot.

Gai doesn't dress like Shunpei, Shunpei dresses like Gai. :lol

Shunpei officially got a whole lot more awesome :lol

Finally another person who appreciates Gai and his very appropriate awesomeness!

Gai has a highly eclectic but colorful and personalized wardrobe. Shunpei is like a two-year-old who insists he can dress himself.

I absolutely loved Gai though. His wacky carefree attitude and massive fanboyism was much appreciated. He was a great framing device to explain things that younger viewers may not have always understood from older sentai. He's just a fantastic addition to the team, the heart and soul if you will.

I'd question your opinion but I've long since given up on understanding our little fandom. I often fear I come across as hipster or contrary to the fandom, but I just don't have tastes like any of you guys. Some of the most herald series are some of the worst things I've watched in our genre, and some of the most hated are some of my favourites.

I watch a show like Goseiger and I physically in no way, shape or form, can understand how people can say the characters are bad, or the action dull or other such criticisms, especially as those sorts of people usually say their favourite sentai is something like Dairanger which DOES have bad characters and dull action in my book. I just don't understand.

I wish for once I could see what everyone else sees.

It's just a question of taste. Simple. What you see in Goseiger another can see in Dairanger.
It doesn't mean either of you are wrong for liking and disliking either show, nor does it mean that your interpretations of particular characters are wrong, despite what you and Kain were trying to pull :p
What you see as a well devised and fleshed out character I could see as one dimensional and boring. What I see as an interesting and deep plot you could see as transparent and dull.

I don't see why having different opinions are regarded as a bad thing when it comes to something like "What shows we like."
Hell, I find it to make things more interesting. For example, since the KR thread isn't just "Why Kuuga is the greatest show ever," I can learn what failings it had from others so it's not just a praise train. Same goes for this Sentai thread (And the PR thread if it were more active...).

I'm not here to fight everyone who likes Gokaiger, and I didn't post in the Kyoryu threads just to argue with everyone who was enjoying that series. I just didn't enjoy it to the extent others were, but it was still fun to learn of altering opinions.

I get all that, but it's just kinda sad and worrying that I don't seem to match anyone in this forum on more than one thing at a time. Also the main reason the KR thread isn't a giant altar to Kuuga is mainly because of me and my rallying of the rebels :lol

Well what I meant was, yeah people are bound to agree on stuff, but I've found during my time here was that there's always at least one thing two people who'd normally agree on everything would disagree with eachother with. Which is fine, really.

Standing out is fun! Half the board hates/dislikes Decade, for example, but for some reason my hatred for it seems to transcend all others :lol

I've actually been aversive to watching Kuuga less because of your words, and more because the hype for it has been so non-stop that I know there is no way it can live up to it :lol

Oh, well, yeah, if you mean literally everything, then of course you're bound to run into someone who disagrees.
I can even find people who think Gekiranger is bad, as crazy as that sounds.

Between the INCREDIBLY clichéd storytelling and the fact that Gai got an upgrade form already this really was an episode for action junkies only. And that is a push as it is, since his upgrade form looked pretty damn ugly. A real shame given how great Gai's other two episodes were.
