Not exactly tokusatsu, but I think many will be interested. The fact is that the first film about giant (more precisely, just large) robots was shot in the Soviet Union in 1935. It's called "The Death of a Sensation" or "Jimm Ripple's Robot". Poster:

The very origin of the word 'robot' has roots in the Slavic language.

The lower you go, the more depressing and distressing it gets. Yeah, I'm having to think a little on this one. Some of these controversies are actually beyond my prior knowledge! Why is "Takayaki Tsubaki Gay Porn" listed twice (and why is that even there to begin with)? |

What is the "3rd overseas Rider show"?

I think the point is that it doesn't exist. |
The more that I look at it, the more "humorous" it kind of becomes.
"Masked Rider" is at the top with "Super Hero Taisen" not far behind. Both have garnered near legendary levels of derision. This is a Dante's Inferno level of all things "BAD" done to semi-comedic effect with stuff that's technically true or rumoured. "Kuuga Missing Movie" is a jab at the fact that Kuuga didn't have one to begin with (unless you count the special edit of the first two or three episodes cobbled together to compensate for this). "Ra-Baraba-De Grongi Form" is how we never saw her true self despite her presence in the series. There are some subjective topics. The "gay porn" thing doesn't bother me, but if I was speculating then it was probably controversial cause Japanese celebrities are supposed to maintain a certain level of distinction, especially when you're involved with a "kids show", and it probably made the bigwigs at Toei a little nervous with regards to marketing. "Tezuka's gay implication in Ryuki" is another similar instance. Don't know if the "Takayaki Tsubaki Golf Club Incident " is related or not. Not sure if I would've put the "Ultraman Crossover " here. From what I've gathered over the years, that special was so popular that it was the impetus for J's enlargement power. That said, I have yet to see that crossover and there maybe something that I'm missing. "Gundam Crossover"? "Cancelled Batman Crossover"? Got me curious here. Either way, I've posted this image to the "Kamen Rider General Questions" Thread. Better place for the thousand or so questions that this prompts. One last thing: the author omitted the thing the VA for Vice did a couple of years ago. Apparently not all "controversies" are "controversial". |
