Especially in Season 3 cards when he starts mixing Neos stuff with his Elemental Hero stuff. |
Quote:
i won't spoil here, but Arc-V chaotic development/story combined to the pendulum mechanic it introduced sent the franchise into the abyss and Vrains is struggling to make it surface again now. |

And really Yugi pretty much did the same thing in Duelist Kingdom. Season 3 though was pretty much Jaden's recklessness biting him in the ass. Quote:
Neos though, no argument there. |

What's the difference? They both became despondent and felt they could no longer duel, Jaden because he was essentially crippled and Yugi because he feared Yami Yugi. |
Quote:
Yugi was this way for a few pages and I think one episode because they had to waste time with a pointless Anzu/Mai duel in the anime. |

Yugi spent the first half of the semi final VS Mai to no transform into Atem because he was not trusting him anymore. That he would do anything to win, even hurting Mai (and there was at least 2 episodes between Anzu duel and this one, because IIRC Kaiba VS Pegasus happened there). |

AH, gotcha. That's cool. Too bad they are using such thin paper though and they still are rleeasing them edited. I hate seeing Jounouchi's middle finger edited out.

What if we have a monster could be a merge between Dark Magician with Gaia the fierce knight ?
|
What if we could go a year without releasing more legacy support for Yugi?

So episode 29 of VRAINS is out so you know what that means?
ANOTHER MOTHERFUCKING CLIP SHOW!!!! On a side note Motherfucking is recognized as a word. Weird. Ok this video helps explain what is happening with VRAINS and damn it seems like it is time to hit the big shiny code red button. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHl_jR_9f24 |
I always thought that Yugioh was based on Magica the Gathering.

5Ds 4th ending Close to You is the best ending out of all of Yugioh. And yes I will fight and kill you over it with a children's card game.

Was contemplating whether or not I should post it here or on the daily toku trivia but decided it was more befitting here.
So true story, Suda, who we know as Philip from Kamen Rider W, is a DJ of his own radio show. When Matsuzaka, Mr. Shinken Red himself, appeared to promote his new movie at the time, for some reason would just GEEK OUT ABOUT YU-GI-OH. This went for a good hour and a half that they hardly talked about the movie he was supposed to promote. Even if Suda tried to steer it back to promoting the movie Matsuzaka would somehow just fidget in Yu-Gi-Oh references and continue babbling about Yu-Gi-Oh. In conclusion, Suda's radio show becomes a 90-minute love letter about Shinken Red's love for Yu-Gi-Oh. Also, listeners just fed more fuel to the fire that was Shinken Red's geek-out sending Yu-Gi-Oh related mail. Suda later asked Matsuzaka,"How old are you again?" to which Matsuzaka replied "29 years old.".:lolol Would like to point out that these two are not only just same agencies, but also BFFs who work together in stuff such as the biopic about Japanese band GReeeeN. |
It's hilarious that he's so into Yu-Gi-Oh :lol
|
Does this make anyone else kinda want Shinken Red to get his own themed deck now?
|
Quote:
Oh yeah, apparently he is one of the highest tier players in the mobile Yu-Gi-Oh game and people in Japan would speculate if he would use a Samurai-themed deck because Shinkenger to which he said "It is not that easy". And ever since his appearance on Suda's radio show Matsuzaka said that he has seen a rise in users using variants of his name as their user names so for example (the real)Matsuzaka. :lolol |
Oh maybe he will use a Super Quantum deck since the red ranger in that deck also uses a lion zord.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7S8wS4HBis So this was how it all started. Think of this as a rough transcript from yours truly. Matsuzaka: So, normally this show runs at 1AM right? Suda: Yep. Matsuzaka: I think the listeners are such troopers, cause I am thinking they must feel sleepy. Suda: Well, normally yes. What do you do around this time normally? Sleep? Matsuzaka: Either sleep... or Yu-Gi-Oh. Suda, Staff: :lolol Wait, wait. People won't know what you mean if you say it so abruptly. Matsuzaka: True. Suda: Please say it 1 more time. Matsuzaka: Um, Yu-Gi-Oh. Suda, Staff: :lolol What do you mean? Aren't you supposed to promote your movie Impossibility Defense tonight? Matsuzaka: Yeah. Suda: Hehehe... Matsuzaka: February 1st, Impossibility Defense. Suda: By Yu-Gi-Oh you mean the card game? Matsuzaka: The Yu-Gi-Oh card game. So, I'm sure this will definitely have people around my age go "wow, that's nostalgic". Suda: Yes, yes, yes. Matsuzaka: Um, these days you can play it on an app. Suda: Hahahahaha, your eyes are suddenly all shimmering. :lolol Matsuzaka: :lolol Suda: You look happy. Matsuzaka: Yep, Yu-Gi-Oh. Suda: Yes, Yu-Gi-Oh. You are part of that generation after all, right? Matsuzaka: I sure was part of that generation. Even now it's still going on, I mean, I don't know about the recent cards, But the cards from back in the days are included in the app. Suda: Oh, so the Yu-Gi-Oh cards from at the early days... Matsuzaka: Are... Suda: ...can be played on the game? Matsuzaka: They can! Suda: Now that surely will excite people! Matsuzaka: Yep. A game called Duel Links. Everyone: :lolol Suda: Pardon me for having you on this time when you should be dueling. lol Matsuzaka: Yes. It would either be going to sleep or dueling. Suda, Staff: :lolol I see. So you're a duelist. Matsuzaka: Yes I am. A duelist. Suda: So, how long did you play, I mean you seem to have played for a while now just hearing you talk about it. Matsuzaka: Hearing me talk about it? Yeah. Suda: I mean you have this air of "don't mess with me" about it. Matsuzaka: Yep. Right now in Duel Links... Suda: Are there ranks? Matsuzaka: There are ranks. For example, Beginners. Suda: Oh, so people who are starting are Beginners. Matsuzaka: People who are starting are Beginners. Suda: Is it gained by winning and if play time is long? Matsuzaka: You gotta win your opponents. There is a thing called Rank Battle and there are rankings. Beginner, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Legend, and King. Suda: Yes. Matsuzaka: So there's those. And my rank is currently King. Suda, Staff: :lolol Suda: AHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Matsuzaka: :lolol Suda: YOU PLAY IT A LOT! Matsuzaka: :lolol Suda: King's the highest? Or is there something higher? Matsuzaka: It's the highest. There is nothing higher. Suda: HAHAHAHAHA! You are powerful! Matsuzaka: Nothing higher. Suda: So above legend is King? Matsuzaka: King is above Legend. Suda: Hehehe... You've surpassed legends! Matsuzaka: Man, surpassing Legend was really troublesome. Suda: :lolol What do you mean? Matsuzaka: Man, people are strong. Suda: I see. Matsuzaka: Dudes in Legend ranks are quite strong. Suda: So in the app do you try the random loots and pay extra? Matsuzaka: I don't spend at all. Suda: HAHAH, for real? Matsuzaka: I became king from playing without paying at all. By sheer will. Suda: Hahahahaha..... What is this man talking about. lol Matsuzaka: Hahaha... *drum snare* Everyone: :lolol Suda: You're supposed to promote Impossibility Defense! You Mukaking(pun on mukakin which roughly means free-of-charge)! :lolol Matsuzaka: Yep I am Mukaking! Suda: Mukaking! :lolol After this, people started trolling the show with the listener mails pretending to ask him about his movie ending up to be Yu-Gi-Oh references and jokes. One of them apparently said something in the line of as a fellow duelist I shall go see your new movie. The following week when Matsuzaka made a surprise appearance on the same show one of the listener mails said that they watched Paddington after the radio show or something in that line because he is the Japanese dub voice for Paddington. :lolol |
How much magic cards, trap cards and fusions should i have ?
|
Depends on the deck. There is no perfect ratio because every deck is different.
Generally, though, you rarely want more than 5 traps, unless your deck is efficient enough to run a lot. |
Just learned Matsuzaka aka Takeru/Shinken Red appeared on Suda aka Philip from Kamen Rider W's radio show again and more Yu-Gi-Oh talk ensues. :lolol
This is the third time this happened. Never have I thought Matsuzaka could make such an impact on this radio show with Yu-Gi-Oh alone. :lolol |
I'd like to see a pokemon stadium-like yugioh game.

So, thanks to irl circumstances I tried playing Yu-Gi-Oh again. After reading up the rules on how to play to remind myself... I then found out that the game had undergone radical evolution since I last played it way back in 2003 and my old mat isn't even relevant to the card game anymore because they completely changed things so that there are "Extra Monster Zones". Also turns last a ridiculously long amount of time as people can chain summons to bring in ridiculously powerful mosnters turn 1 should they get a good hand. And it's become moreso about getting in as many monsters as possible to wipe your opponent's life points out in one go rather than chipping away at it as per the original game.
Meanwhile my Blue Eyes deck with only one of most cards because that was what I had is now outclassed because it doesn't have enough consistency to do what it's supposed to and more modern decks suppress it incredibly quickly. So I might have to buy that new Rokket deck that's coming out. |
I still collect the cards now and then but I don't play. The game has become convoluted. Has been for some time now. The show is even worse. There's just no cohesive narrative or proper structure to either. I just accept it for that it is and enjoy what I liked about it when I was younger aka nostalgia.

As someone who does actively play the game (Though only at a casual level), I think most people exaggerate far too much on how the game has advanced.
Yes, there are new ways to summon monsters. But it's very, very simple. White cards? Tuner and any number of other monsters on the field. Add up the levels. If it equals the level on the white card: You just synchro summoned. Black cards? Two (Sometimes three) monsters of the same level. Boom. You just Xyz summoned. I feel most people just get overwhelmed because the game they last played in 2002 has advanced in the last 17 years. So with so many new mechanics, they write it off. Yu-Gi-Oh has gotten much faster, and there are far more options now. While there is no doubt that it can be very overwhelming for someone who last touched YGO during the GX era, I think it's a very fun game that only grew to be more enjoyable with the additions. (I'm never going to defend Pendulums, though. Those generally were convoluted and poorly implemented) |
I did try to go back into Yu-Gi-Oh around 2014 and I could not get into it. I stop caring about the series in 2005 when GX came out and they changed a lot since I last played the game. I always like how Yu-Gi-Oh was a fun and simple card game to play compare to Magic. I sold off a lot of my old cards a while back and got a good amount for them.
|
I sometimes get a couple booster packs or a cheap starter deck every now and then when I am in a store. I would play the game more if I had people to play with.
|
I felt Yu-Gi-Oh advanced at a natural pace. Hell, the beginning of the game was one of the most stagnant card games ever. Only relying on big numbers, 5 total effect monsters in the game, and a mixed pool of some of the best and worst spells and traps, most often, once a player gets a monster with over 2000 attack on the board, unless the opponent drew either Raigeki, Change of Heart, or Man Eater Bug, it was game over.
I honestly feel old Yu-Gi-Oh was the most luck based, since it was just "Who's opening hand had the better defense" and then "Who drew the Summoned Skull?" |
