Ever since we first saw Slash's suit, I'd been wondering, why use Hansel & Gretel for his base form, when Band of Bremen fits his role as the Swordsman of Sound so perfectly? If his base book was related to him being a mechanic (maybe a gremlin?) I could understand, but the candy theme comes out of nowhere.
For all the other riders, when they have a book that directly matches their theme, it's the one they use for their base form. It's most obvious with Saber using a dragon which goes with his fire element, and Kenzan using Sarutobi Sasuke to fit him being a ninja. But in this episode where it was revealed that Daishinji's personality changes when he uses Band of Bremen and his sword has two voices (which even argue during the transformation jingles!), I think I finally get it: Hansel and Gretel are twins, and Daishinji/Slash is basically two different people in one, the painfully shy mechanic and the loud bombastic warrior. |
Kinda fuzzy if this was brought up before but the white part with the zigzag lining on the chest area of the Gingaman suits? Fangs just like Daizyujin and Ryuon. It is befitting considering they are animal-themed.

It's not a hard-and-fast rule, but I noticed a pattern in how the transformation devices from W onwards are named. It seems that by default, a driver is named after the user it's introduced with, even if others later use it too. All the exceptions to this meet one or more of these three conditions:
1) Multiple riders using the driver are introduced close together. 2) The transformation device is also a weapon. 3) The transformation device is introduced with an antagonist (who'll usually get redeemed later). |

I never realized the teeth thing about the Zyurangers, but I've always got the intent behind the Gingaman suits because the morphing stock footage in Lost Galaxy has a clear "chomping" motion at the start that makes it obvious.

As I’ve mentioned, watching Decade for the first time and now realizing that the home base being a watch store in Zi-O is a callback to the camera shop in Decade

Now it just looks way cooler than I thought it did. I always liked the helmet designs but could never get across why their suit was designed that way until recently. And I guess the gloves and boots are following the same idea as well with how the edges are decorated with the same pattern. Quote:

It just hit me that the Giga Gaburevolver's red-and-blue coloration matches Torin's unmorphed face.
|
Well I feel pretty stupid as I just noticed that the Ohrangers/Zeo Rangers' helmets have mouths.

Depending on your super robot knowledge this might be obvious or obscure, but TIL that during the development of Gō Nagai’s famous robot Mazinger Z, the titular robot was at one point called "Energer Z" and was to be piloted with a motorcycle docking in its head instead of a hovercraft. The robot even had tracks on its back the bike rider would drive up on.
It was changed because, you might have guessed it, the concept of a muffler-wearing hero riding a motorcycle was deemed too similar to Shōtarō Ishinomori's "Kamen Rider". Nagai being a former assistant of Ishinomori probably didn't help much either. https://i.imgur.com/UNZBolT.jpg |
I was actually aware of that fact, but I had never seen the design images of the original motorcycle piloted Mazinger!
With the various different incarnations, I would like to see perhaps a spin-off that does feature the motorcycle instead of a hovercar. |

This is one of those things I've always been curious about but never bothered to look up until now, but I just found out the six numbers (453145) occasionally written under Kamen Rider Decade's logo on stuff like his cards to give it that barcode look are actually spelling out his name, because D is the fourth letter of the alphabet, E is the fifth, etc.
I always assumed it was some clunky goroawase thing I could never crack, but it turns out it was way more simple than that the whole time. :lol |
Was watching an "all Zero-One transformations" compilation and found out that Shining Hopper was actually utilized more than Shining Assault. With Shining having a total of 7 appearances while Shining Assault only 6. MCH was around the double digits. Hearing "Metal Cluster Hopper!" multiple times, led me to think that MCH kinda overstayed its welcome and kinda wanted to see the Shining forms more.
|
Yeah, like... it actually kind of led me to dislike Metal Cluster after a bit; I got sick of seeing it with how overused it was compared to most pre-final forms. It doesn't help that 02 was not just very late, but cut off by both the shortened runtime and Ark-One.
|
A big part of that was probably because Metal Cluster Hopper would continue to be the star of many episodes' climax even after Burning Falcon and Rampage Gatling were introduced.
I think my own feelings on the form went in like a reverse-bell for some reason? Dislike started to sewn in, but at some point without me realising, it started to feel familiar in a comfortable way that I didn't mind it anymore. |
I just realized a brilliant thing they did with Saber.
The show keeps the minor form changes (jack, 3 pigs, and breman) relevant by giving them to the buster/kenzan/slash, and having them use them instead of just having saber use them a few times then forget about them. |

Maybe, just maybe... Its because the rider design come first, but Fukuda as the main writer ‘being creative’ and make Slash a swordman of sounds. Daijinshi use his hearing power is just one time and then forgoten afterall |

Yeah, it goes like...
- three red books for Saber - three blue books for Blades - three yellow books for Espada - two books each for the three auxiliary swordsmen - ... king of arthur Saber just got to use them sometimes. |
Today, I realized that the Narumi Detective Agency set was demolished and replaced with a hotel.

So this I recently found out while looking up Tiga stuff in anticipation for the show's 25th anniversary. The reason Tiga is red and violet is most likely a reference to infrared and ultraviolet light and I like that. |
So the actor who plays Jetta in Ultraman Orb was Tohru the operator in Go-Busters. I knew he was in Gokaiger as one of Kenta/Mega Red's students but did not catch that.
|
Just realised that Zenkaiser is also based on a past Sentai Mecha: Specifically, Varidorin from Gorenger. I don’t have a picture to upload, so I suggest you look it up.

Fuwa's fake memory was most likely planned from the start. In his memory, he was in a school, with his friends slaughtered and he ran away from an army of humagears and that forever scarred him and HIDEN intelligence hid this information.
But, during Punching Kong's debut and Aruto's own memories of the daybreak incident, it was reported that everyone managed to evacuate before the kid's dad had blown up the factory. There was no explosion in Fuwa's memory, and it doesn't line up with the factory explosion. This also kinda made me imagine a tragic scenario for Soreo. He was confirmed as a Kamen Rider still in the original timeline, so, I imagined he probably failed in attempting to restore all of the humagears hacked by the Ark, de-transformed and headed to Aruto's location to spend one last time with him and shield from the blast. |

I think for a series as long-running as Super Sentai, it's impossible for things to not look similar even to a large degree. It could all be a reference or none at all. |
Akibaranger's Hiroyo and Ultraman Tregear are siblings. Real life siblings.
|
So here's a thought. Zyuran and Vroom have yellow eyes while Gaon and Magine have green eyes. Zyuran and Vroom compose the left of Zenkaioh while Gaon and Magine compose the right of Zenkaioh respectively. Also, the primary two combinations if you think about it are dichotomies of each other's motif.
Zenkaioh Zyuragaon: ancient times VS modern times Zenkaioh Vroomagine: science VS magic |
I'm just now realizing Duke's helmet has not just a crown, but an actual beard to go with the nobility theme of his name.

Anyone notice that they've been emphasizing on rider kicks lately these past two Reiwa riders? I think Saber, of all seasons, has had more rider kicks on their first quarter than Zero-One.
|
Good!
|
That doesn't sound right!? I could swear that anyone using their feet for finishers instead of their swords has been a once-in-a-blue-moon occasion in Saber.
|
Not so much a realisation, but I discovered that in the Korean dub of Kamen Rider, the guy voicing Keisuke Nago/IXA later went on to voice Gentaro Kisaragi/Fourze.
|
Korean dubs can be good for practice sometimes in my often futile attempts at languages besides Japanese and Welsh!
Sorry to get on my soapbox, but IMO dubbing is the only way you're going to get the ''average'' person to watch tokusatsu or have any big international success with it and also dubbing and subbing technically are aimed at different audiences too seeing as it tends to be people who are really into something that actively seek out the subtitled version whereas I doubt the people subtitling it are worried about that kid who's happened to come across Digimon dubbed(although obviously I'm not denying some anime dubs are bad, like the original Sailor Moon)! I especially hate how some people seem like they would genuinely rather watch something animated dubbed, and yet live action subtitled! We never get anything live action dubbed in Britain and I find that more interesting and underrated personally! :lol |

Read somewhere that ZI-O Trinity's face is a homage to V3.
