I finally figured out Aizen.

He's one of those Chatroom roleplayers that used to be on AOL. The ones that would swoop in with a character made of invinciblity, assholishness, and unexplained power jumps, that exists only to troll and ruin your story.

Dropped Ideon. 5 episodes was enough to tell me its boring as sin and I won't enjoy it.

So instead I'm revisiting Digimon series 1!

Reminds me of when I tried a pony RP and had to deal with an Alicorn king who was married to Celestia who could use Black magic and could instantly regenerate and heal himself when hurt.

Ironically, I loathed Justimon.
He was the most BS case of Mary Sue-ism I've ever seen. He showed up out of nowhere. He's regarded as the greatest Digimon card game player ever (Better than Rika), he's been in the digital world for far longer than anyone else in Tamers. He has a backstory that ties him (And thus, Tamers) into Adventure/02's (Seasons 1 and 2) story. He had an Ultimate Level parter with the strength of a Mega who's "Uncontrollable." (Though Kenta gets a Mega level partner, so I guess I can't complain), he magically arrives with the ability to Biomerge with Cyberdramon (Despite not being present when Dobermon gave the ability to the 3 main heroes), and he reduced Rika/Sakuyamon to a bitch role.

God, I hated that guy. A good design doesn't excuse almost ruining the entire story line.

(And yes, I know Cyberdramon's backstory and excuse for it's personality and strength, with the Millenniummon thing from the Wonderswan games. But it's never addressed in series, so it's a legitimate point to complain over)

I should probably go back and watch Digimon...not sure which season though...I have a feeling Matrix will tell me Tamers.

I would recommend either the adventure seasons and go up from there... but when you finish Tamers you can just skip frontier and go on to Savers/Data Squad.

But...I liked Frontier as a kid...

And always Tamers. It's the only season of Digimon I rewatched that didn't turn out to be crap.
Adventure was dumb with nothing to fear ("Digimon never die. They just return as Eggs in the Primary Village with all their memories intact)

02 had a horrible beginning, a massively overrated villain (Black Wargreymon), a horrid climax, and a terrible ending (The middle of the series to the tail end was alright)

Tamers is a god amongst Shonen anime that we should be thankful exists.

Frontier was just bad, with terrible characters who, after the halfway point, literally have to give up their powers just so the main two characters can lose the fight :I

I never bothered past the first 15 or so episodes of Savers, and I hate Xros Wars's concept. Way too gimmicky for my tastes.

Yeah, I'll admit Frontier has it's moments. But it kind of goes down hill after they over power Takuya and Koji, and make the other four characters pointless. Though I did enjoy Christopher Walken Icedevimon.

Yeah, Blackwargreymon was overrated to hell and Frontier was a mess. Also, I'd give Savers another go because after episode 15 or so it gets much better. But that's just my opinion.

Exactly. Sure Imperialdramon from 02 was op to shit but at least the other four digimon didn't have to be made useless in order to allow Veemon and Wormmon to digivolve into him.

Glad someone agrees about BlackWargreymon. Aside from that 1 minute long fight between him and Wargreymon, there wasn't anything to him aside from emo whining.

And it's just my luck that I'd drop the series right before it goes from "Meh" to good :lol

Frontier made me appreciate Adventure and 02 in that, while the fights in those series were predominantly Wargreymon, MetalGarurumon and Imperialdramon, at least the likes of MegaKabuterimon, Lilymon, Silphymon, etc etc could still freaking help, not just stand on the sidelines and go "Oh!" for an entire episode.

If I recall, they have no importance. They're just cameos to show off much better characters than what's his name and Shoutmon.

And the battle against Cherubimon was neat, but I won't let it ride for one good scene out of 40 episodes.

Well, I just got done watching Soul Eater and Tamako Market. Im on Durarara right now. So far Ive watched 5 episodes. So far so good!

I seem to find people doing that a lot with anime. They just drop it right before it gets good. For instance my sister dropped Madoka at episode 7 when one of the best parts is in the following two episodes. (people who've seen it know what I'm talking about)

Black Wargreymon is not an emo. Digimon came out long before the term "emo" was even invented (and it is still one of the dumbest terms ever). These days emo seems to be thrown around for anything that resolves around drama or gothic, even though goth and emo are too completely different things.

TO be fair, while I will give Japanese series about 10 episodes to impress me, I should not have to spend 3-4 hours watching something for it to get good. If I am not enjoying something, why watch it when I can watch something I enjoy from the get go instead? I just don't have the time anymore these days to give it to something long in hopes that it is going to pay off in the end. Sure, there have been some series that did not get good until the halfway point, but I shouldn't have to sit through that much before I start enjoying something. It took me 20 episodes before I started to enjoy Trigun, and as such, I will never watch the show again. I would rather watch Cowboy Bebop, which I enjoyed right from the get go.

Black Wargreymon just sat around, moped over his existence, and became an overall plot tumor. He was "Emo" because all he did was cry.
He was confronted by Azulongmon for being a dumbass, then sacrifices himself.

He wasn't gothic. He wasn't dramatic. Half his lines were whining over existence. The other half were "I MUST FIGHT THIS DRAGON THING BECAUSE THAT WILL MAKE ME A REAL BOY" (Something that he never does, either).

Ooooh! Now I remember him! I think as a kid I wanted that to work out for him. It sucks that my memories of some shows I watched as a kid are so hazy...

As a kid, everyone loved Black Wargreymon.
But having rewatched 02 a few years back, I really didn't like him.

They weren't clearly cut, they weren't entirely good or evil, so they were more interesting than the fireball or mellow protagonists.

I guess, but looking back at when Shadow was super emo (MARIAAAAH!!!!) I like him better the way he is now. I loved Shadow the Hedgehog (the game) as a kid, but I don't think I could sit through it again. Especially those stupid dark path storylines. I know they aren't cannon, but still. That whole amnesia storyline was stupid...

It's a good thing the game was retconned in Generations.

I know I'm going to sound like a complete idiot when I say this...but in what way did they retcon that game?

That's the only game that Generations doesn't reference and everything else in the canon is referenced, even 06.

Unless you count music, but I feel like they can't, considering it explains what happened to Shadow after SA2 (what sucks is that the proper, cannon explanation happens 8 minutes into the final boss fight.)
