I will have Blaze!!
|
We've only seen the one render. We have seen renders of Blade holding the briefcase for instance. Unlike other figures(well maybe Shadow Ranger), not all the accessories can be shown off in one render. Only got two hands and all.

That little thing off to the side that some think confirms his tonfas and others say is just an energy effect...to me at least it looks like Tanya's rarely used nunchucks, colored blue! I seriously hope I'm wrong here, but I'm currently of the opinion that maybe someone at Hasbro made an oops-y! |
We know what effect part Zeo Blue is supposed to come with though, and it doesn't look like that. The fact that it's solid colours and not a single transparent colour confirms to me that if it's not the tonfas, it's definitely not an effect part

Reminder of the pics we got.
The energy effect is clearly this long thing that matches whats happening in that box. https://news.tokunation.com/wp-conte...Zeo-Ranger.jpg https://news.tokunation.com/wp-conte...e-Ranger-2.jpg Quote:

It's almost Christmas and I bought two Lightning figures. One was Kimberly, the other was a gift to myself from "Santa." I'll reveal that the day of Christmas.

So end of the year assessment, I'd give the line so far a low B-
The bodies Hasbro are using are a great complement to the Power Ranger brand. Their picks have been pretty good and most figures have had their accessories. Downsides Quality control is terrible. If what they did this year is the same in 2020, my grade would drop to a C-. Those bodies are nice but not when the paint apps are so shoddy. You can't blindly grab a box without a high chance of a noticeable defects. I know some people think this is a premium line. It's not but that doesn't mean the QC get's to be that bad. DC Gold - Wtf happened there? The hands they would have gotten away with but the neck? Speaking of necks, um Hasbro even with the helmets, they still got necks. Misleading Renders - Shadow Ranger, MMPR Visor, and FS Green all depict paint apps or colors that are not on the final product. If they were fancy illustrations that would be one thing but the render is supposed to represent the final product. The face molds I personally don't see too much as a problem but some have made me go "Who is that?" Accessories, DC Red should have had the Trex smasher. I don't think the form matters but that part was very unique. The cheaper plastic and joints have been an issue. Shadow Ranger and MMPR Pink specifically have then thin elbows and knees. That flexible plastic may help in some cases but it's also more susceptible to deformation. Lack of female figures. One figure(which they no longer sell on Hasbro's website) was a female character. Also while not like the sexist Bandai figure, still I don't know why they made the arms so small and weird. Her arms have a flat side for some reason. For a first year I'm giving them a bit of slack but next year they need to address these issues. Improving QC would take my score to an A. That's priority. |

Most of the paint issues don't bother me. I can always fix that myself. But I agree the limbs are a bit flimsy at times and prone to warping. My Kimberly figure looks like she has rickets. And the lack of female figures is inexcusable. |
Really my biggest issue with the line so far is one that will likely never change. Personally, with how good the diaphragm joints are on most of these figures, I wish they'd get rid of the reverse ab-crunch and just give each figure a traditional waist twist instead.
And I know I'll probably get shot for saying this, but I also would've preferred if they'd just outright skipped the un-helmeted heads. Especially if it meant we could get other accessories instead like more weapons and/or extra hands. Overall, with the figures I've bought from the line, I've been very lucky in terms of QC. Although my DS-MMPR Black had reversed biceps, but that was an easy fix. Hopefully with the price getting bumped up next year, so too will the quality. |

It's not that Bandai America couldn't do it but they had this warped sense that the bodies had to look like that and refused to change. Those designs should never have left the concept phase. Paint issues depend. A minor dab of paint needed? At that price point i expect that. It's that some of the alignments are so bad that you would need to repaint the whole figure to fix it. That is not acceptable. Take Drakkon for example. Some of the helmets are 30% offset with the paint apps. Quote:
Oh man i can't agree on the diaphragm. I want that to be standard on the Marvel Legends figures. I love that additional articulation. That only only I could see to appease would be more articulation in the ball joint. Same with the heads and I don't really know if nixing them will really bring in those accessories. The price bump is more for the trade issues and not to make better products. |
My biggest issue with the line is how a lot of them don't really seem to have necks. It's the only problem I have with the sculpts
|
guess that confirms no tonfas for Zeo blue
|
Well there's still no confirmation as we are still basing things off a LQ image.

Dang, no tonfas. That really sucks.
Might get Blaze though. He's lookin' good. |
That's the same image I've been talking about when saying the tonfas were gone. Don't know why it never got frontpaged here and only the packaging shot did.
This is new though: https://i.imgur.com/gJ5txev.jpg |
The hands are white, yay.

Okay real talk, there are angry folks over at rangerboard.
Who here noticed the visor? Do you even care? |

Still, not something I would have noticed had I not been looking. Once again another issue in the ongoing saga of "Lightning Collection Figure Has A Minor Inaccuracy That Shouldn't Be There But It's Fine Honestly". |

honestly it just kinda looks off when looking at it, the "balance" of the helmet is thrown off, i guess?
kinda hope it gets fixed, im not usually one to complain about details like this tho |
Wow if that black down to the visor really that unsettling for you guys. I really didn't notice and I find it more balanced then the original.
This isn't going to be fixed, that's the final product. Though I will say it would be a problem for the others because they have more black bits. |
I did notice it, but I really don't think it's as bad as a mistake as DC Gold's' unpainted neck and hands. Should it be fixed? Yes, but I don't think it ruins the entire thing.

My main issues are still that they don't come with as much accessories as they could, and the occasional thing like BM Red looking off proportionally. Otherwise all this stuff people have gone about like Shadow Ranger's paint QC issues and now this visor thing are things that should rightfully be criticised, but just not hugely impactful to me. Heck, I kind of agree with Neo here; this version of the design actually might look a little better! |
When it comes to accessories. At $20 there is going to be a limit. The Legends line is the best comparison and they don't come with a lot.
Power Rangers is tricky because some characters/teams have a ton of accessories. A line needs to be drawn and everyone desires different things. Someone people say to would pay a higher price for accessories and quality but then that's going to impact people with a set price range. I know some people don't want to hear the budget excuse but it's real. If you can't support it, don't buy the figure. Don't reward Hasbro. We have social media, get you Instagram, Twitter, YT and point this stuff out. On the Hasbro Pulse website, leave reviews. Also when you have a chance look up how they apply paint in factories overseas. You may get an idea at how these products are made. Now if the lack of a line really bothers you and you are willing to customize it. Mask off the visor and a portion of the V. Dab away the black paint with rubbing alcohol. You could do the same thing to the FS helmet if you really hate that silver. I certainly want accuracy but the lack of a 1mm to 2mm line is not going to ruin my day. |
IMO in terms of accessories, like I said, I'd be willing to axe the unhelmeted heads and even the effect parts if it meant everyone gets either an additional set of hands or an extra weapon.
Heck, if that's not a compromise then I'd rather each Ranger get their Signature Weapon over their side-arms(assuming we can't ever have both). I'm also glad they're starting to sell hands in full out pairs rather than 1 pair and then 2 different ones. Annoys me that DS-Zack came with that karate chop hand instead of two fists. |
I really like the heads though with these life like ones, sometimes the eyes are uncanny valley. I think the human heads add a lot of character to the line.
I think the effect parts though are more "We don't have the budget for hands but for these quick molds with cheap plastic". Though I would need to see how much they cost production wise. Those I would nix. Two gripping hands is a must. The others should alternate. It sucks if you only intend to buy one of two figures but get a whole wave and you got a LOT of hands. I got plenty of closed fists from the others. Though what possessed them to not give Fighting Spirit Green two gripping hands is beyond me. Like he has two accessories he can hold. Psycho Red had two gripping hands and he only has the one sword! |
Yeah, I of course understand they can't give us more accessories than what they do; so my only realistic criticism in terms of those is that I'd rather we traded the head for something. More hands, another weapon, anything would be better to me imo. I respect how well they're doing the heads but they're just not very appealing to me.

I may have discovered the origin of this weird error.

Well minus select rangers, the white gloves have all been the same. SPD Red is using the same hands as the MMPR/LG and probably Zeo.
So many of the hands won't be mismatched unless you are going getting the special figured hands. Not saying it's ideal for everyone but Hasbo has to pick. Same with a Putty 2 Pack. Sure there probably is a market but probably not the same market as a ranger with a putty. But honestly it hasn't been 1 year. I think people are still in the Bandai mindset mixed with how long Hasbro has been making toys. They haven't even gotten through one year of Power Ranger figures. They aren't going to have every potential combination of figures and accessories. If Power Rangers had just been MMPR then things would be different. But 25 years of rangers/characters. Its a lot. |
If they ever drop the unmasked heads I will drop this line so fast!
I've picked up every figure so far and my biggest draw to this line has been the unmasked heads and I don't feel I'm alone in that. I don't even want that to be on Hasbro's radar as a posibility. I'll take all the slight inaccuracies to keep things how they're going. |
Seriously Phantom Ranger better have an unmasked head or there will be hell to pay!
