Does anyone else find it troubling how the last two episodes of TLOK kinda make a continuity headache for the origins of Bending established in ATLA?

It explains the origins of the Avatar, not benidng.

Unless I missed something.

According to legend, the original Earthbenders were badger-moles, the original firebenders were dragons, the original Waterbender was the Moon, and the original Airbenders were sky-bison. According to the new episode, Bending was granted to people through lion-turtles.

However, according to the lion-turtle from the finale of Avatar: The Last Airbender, energybending was used in the era before the Avatar to grant people Bending. It can be conjectured that, while one could become a Bender through the use of energy-bending, people could have initially learned the other Bending arts through their respective teachers, lion-turtles merely being the way that people with less control over their chi could learn to Bend.

Its an origin lost to time for over 10,000 years at least. Things get forgotten, blanks get filled up with new stuff. It happens in the real world all the time. Founding of Rome, the endless revisions of Greeco-Roman Mythology, overlapping of cultures and religions which in itself leads to new legends and myths.

My take on this is that after the Lion Turtles faded from human memory, what passed as "Bending" back then was more of less guys/girls born with the ability chucking elements at each other. But as time grew passed they got more inspirations of how to use the Elements from the creatures or things around them which is why they showed the scene of Wan refining his Firebending by observing the Dragon. Flashforward thousands of years later as civilizations rise/fall/assimilate/separate some threads of that origin still remain but the rest is lost in translation.

The problem with that explanation is just how often lion-turtles are brought up in Avatar: The Last Airbender. It's not enough to change everything, though.

Anyway, Vortexx has begun airing the Symbiote Saga from The Spectacular Spider-Man. I suggest you all tune in 9:00 a.m. on Saturdays to watch it.

They weren't brought up very elaborately. They used Lion Turtle references in their art when Aang talked saw a sketch in The Library but Sokka shrugged it off like it meant nothing, or like phrases like "A heart as fierce as a Lion Turtle and twice as big" like from Sokka's Master. Its like us saying a line like "rises from the ashes like a Phoenix" or something to similar effect.

Again, the core legend behind the Lion Turtle was probably forgotten over the course of 10,000 years. Even the Avatar Spirit of Roku didn't know if they were on a Lion Turtle or not because more than likely he never encountered one in his lifetime nor did he need to look into his previous lives to know about one

Seriously? The big bad greedy capitalist has been a thing in tons of American cartoons, not to mention just in general media as well.

Finally got caught up on The Legend of Korra. Its okay but I get really tired of the unfocused plot. I wasnt a big fan of the first season but atleast it was a tight story.

Also I started atching Adventure Time...and man...I really like it but I dont even know what the hell I am looking at :lol

I stopped watching The Legend Of Korra. Although I did watch the origins episodes.

Adventure Time isn't suppose to make any sense. So don't feel bad. :D They just have adventures. :)

After a while, the crazyness makes a crazy cohesive story.
