Death Note episodes 13-17
Wow, that Second Death Note arc accomplished nothing. Naomi got her memory erased after finding out L's name. But Light taking advantage of Naomi's wanting of his love to creepy levels. Not only that but Light is either putting on a really really good act convincing L he's not Kira, or his memory got wiped. And I guess power-less Light is chained to L now and there's some league of evil going on.... |
Gundam G
episode 1-2 - It was ok, it didn't wow me and I felt slightly annoyed by some things, maybe I'm spoiled by Unicorn? Not sure. Karen Senki episode 1-2 - CGI and more CGI with Matrix action, and weird plot. That is all. Fate Stay Night 2014 by Ufotable Episode 00 - Loved it, loved it. That is all. |
Eureka 7 Episode 14
New opening. I'm not a fan of the hip hop openings in animes. Also, since Eureka 7 just went behind Funimation.com's subscription paywall, I wen to hulu to watch it, and good god, 90 seconds worth of ads per break? Jesus fucking christ.... I stopped watching TV to get away from that shit. Good god a clipshow... I hate when a show that has been taking this long to start shit has a clip show this early. What an episode for me to jump back in with.... |
Oh boy, I have a lot to say from today.
First up, the anime: Sailor Moon Crystal 7 - Another fantastic episode with incredible animation and probably the best fight scene of the show thus far. There was quite a bit deviated from the manga, but it still kept the main plot and idea true to the story, so I am okay with that. Ghost in the Shell Arise 4 - A confusing, but truly incredible finale to this four part OVA. I do hope Production IG decides to do more stories in this universe as I feel like the story was not truly complete since not all of the villains meet their end. Nevertheless, the soundtrack to the show kicked ass and I look forward to watching this show in English in a couple weeks. Gundam Reconguista G 1 - I'm not really sure what I can say here as it was boring, featured way too much exposition, and yet, I feel like I know next to nothing about what is going on, and the animation is quite lacking. Also, it seems like the main character knows he is the main character as he can already do anything. I mean, he is a low ranking officer, but no one objects to him just opening up the Gundam cockpit and playing around with the controls. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. There is just not really much here to talk about as in the 22 minutes I feel nothing actually happened. I know it is a Gundam series, so it is bound to get better after 15 episodes, but there is nothing really here that makes me want to come back. Finally, I cannot figure out if they are trying to make this series be serious or comedic. Finally, this is not really about anime, but it is related to Dragon Ball, so I wanted to post it here. I finished the Z manga today and I have to say that I have spent the last 7 weeks reading through the entire series in manga form for the first time and this series was nothing short of stunning. While it was my first time experiencing Dragon Ball, even reading the Z portion felt like I was experiencing the series for the first time even though I have watched the anime a million times. Some of the fourth wall breaking jokes in the manga (like the one where Krillin calls out Toriyama for reusing the same panels when Trucks and Goten are practicing the fusion dance) were fantastic. In fact, I have to say that the Boo saga was really well done in manga form compared to the anime. It felt like it was taking the mysticism and comedy of DB and adding in the action aspect of Z. Boo is actually a pretty cool villain even though I do still feel it got ridiculous as the villains came off like a sales pitch. "Freeza is the most powerful being in the universe, but wait, there is more. Cell is actually the most powerful being as he contains the DNA of all of the characters including Freeza. Hold on there though, we have even more. If you buy Cell and Freeza right now, you will get the true ultimate evil in the universe, who was forgotten because he was locked away, Boo." From a story point of view, I definitely think Dragon Ball was the better of the two series as the plots were short and simple, but had this great mystery to the world around it. Not only that, but I like Goku much more as a child than I do as an adult. On the other hand, Dragon Ball Z has a lot more memorable villains compared to the original series, who really only had King Piccolo. Sure, I love Tao Pai Pai and Pilaf was cool, but Tao was barely in the thing and Pilaf never accomplished anything. In fact, I think that is one of the biggest weaknesses for Z, as it seems like Toriyama just forgot all about Pilaf. Hell, in the anime, it would have made more sense for Toei to have used Pilaf over Garlic in the Black Water Saga. Nevertheless, I did enjoy everything about the manga except Raditz. I do not know why, but Raditz is just hands down the worst character Toriyama had ever created in this series. He was not the least bit interesting, did absolutely nothing, and never received any sort of development. I would love to see Toei just put the money and effort and do an entirely new Dragon Ball anime that adapts all 42 volumes of the manga into a 100% accurate series and does it in less than 200 episodes. Finally, there are some issues I do have with Viz's translations. First off, when Trunks is telling Goku about the future, he says it is 19 and 20 that have ruined his world even it is 17 and 18. That just makes no damn sense. Also, I do not like that Viz changed Mr Satan's name to Hercule and they call Vegitto Vegerot. Overall, I give the series as a whole a nice big 9/10 stars as it is phenomenal and one I plan to reread in a few years. |
Finished all of Space Dandy and it was a nice ride. I do hope we get more later. Next up, Engaged to The Unidentified.

Is G-Reco subbed on GundamInfo? Because last time I checked, it wasn't on there yet.
Eureka 7 episode 15 Great, more filler.... The tone has darkened quite considerably, with Reton's uncle going to jail and whatnot. Actually the episode had some great Renton in the NeirVashe action. Plus, I liked the commentary on crazy manipulative family. But not much happened... |

Trying to find the time to watch the Toradora English Dub. On episode 8 right now. God, it's just so much more enjoyable now that they actually speak like us kids in the US.

Mobile Suit Gundam F91: Imagine you are trying to make full season of Gundam but production issues keep it from being completed, now imagine that instead of dropping it it gets crammed into a 2 hour film.
Yeah, it's not pretty. At the later stages of the UC conflict breaks out between the Federation and the Crossbone Vanguard, a bunch of civilians are caught in the middle, one of em, Cecily, turns out to be part of the aristocracy governing the Vanguard, while Seabook ends up piloting the Federation's prototype since his mother aided in it's design. The other civilians? They are pretty much pointless. And what we get is a movie with terrible pacing, a lot of concepts that aren't explained, and enough cuts to destroy a Mobile Armor. F91 has interesting ideas, the Crossbone Vanguard is likeable, especially when paired with the dowright stupid Federation of this era, Cecily has the hints of a great character, Iron Mask can be creepy, and Seabook at least gets a somewhat coherent character arc, but other than that it's a convoluted movie, in which you can appreciate the potential but not the result. The animation is good though, the F91 is a fun to watch mech, expecially when the MEPE kicks in, the characters are well done, and the initial escape segment is really eyecatching. Likewise the music is enjoyable, Eternal Wind is simply lovely, but as it's been pointed out many times, the music takes a little bit too much "inspiration" from Star Wars. F91 can be genuinely painful to sit through, and I wouldn't reccomend it, but it has enough good ideas for me to get excited about Crossbone. |
So my intersted in Cross Ange just vanished insntatly.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxbnEvEGV1k This opening is literally shot per shot the opening for Gundam SEED, just with a majority female cast and some…more than questionable decision making. I know I shouldn't judge a show based on the opening alone, but just listening from people's reaction to it it sounds like I'm not missing too much. |

Another thing, I honestly don't get why Gundam Seed is so popular in Japan. It's shit. The designs are shit, the art is shit, the plots are shit. But it sells like crack. |

I just….don't really have high hopes for this series, which I'm hearing is baically Valvrave levels of nonsensical and stupid.(For the record, I actually enjoyed Valvrave and had fun with it through it's run) Eh, I'll still give it a shot but I might just stick with the two Gundam shows and GARO this season. |

Nothing against SEED mind you. Still gotta give the first episode a try, just for fairness. |
Okay, do you guys remember how Valvrave ran almost exclusively on shock value? And do you guys remember episode 10?
That is more or less episode 1 of Cross Ange. It's downright mean spirited, predictable, undeniably generic and the last segment made me wonder if I was actually watching a hentai. No hints of dragons so far btw. *edit: In other news Disk Wars Deadpool is delightfully over the top. |
Well I tried my best to watch Cross Ange, buuuut I just found the series boring and uninspiried.
I sense that heavy handed fanservice is gonna be a running theme in this show, and…it just seems very unessicary IMO. |
Was looking forward to Cross Ange because the music, voice cast and whole thing with mechs vs. dragons...I'm done after the first episode.
It feels like Valvrave and that's not a good thing. Ange's confrontation with the mother of the Norma child made her come off as pretty unlikable. That and her instant karma are examples of the extreme cases of prejudice that were super-apparent in Valvrave. The sudden twist in the origin story came out of nowhere and the final scene of the episode felt EXTREMELY unnecessary and like it was only there for shock value. Could it change over time? Probably, but I wouldn't bet on it. It annoys me when bad anime gets top-notch treatment in the quality department. Always feels like a waste. And then on the flip-side, the Deadpool episode of Marvel Disk Wars was fantastic. And probably one of the better animated representations of Deadpool we've gotten. |

Thing is, Cross Ange isn't a very original anime. It's very noticable how many of it's concepts are derived from other series.
Dragons VS Mecha? Escaflowne did that first. Even the whole thing with the Normas have been done before, in a series called Broken Blade. The whole speeder bike/cricket thing they were playing is baically Quiddich. I think the only cool thing about this show are the mechas. I dig how they transform into this cool cool looking motorcycle/jet vehichle thing, even if the design seems flawed and impractical in a battle situation. But even then, it's hard not looking at the mech's aesthetic and not think of Armored Core or something. |
And everything about the royal family screams Geass.

Been watching the 2011 HunterXHunter series. Up to the Greed Island arc and I can firmly say without a shadow of doubt that it's one of if not the best shounen series I've seen in my life... still doesn't beat out Bleach as my favorite though. :p
|
Anyone know what day of the week Psycho-Pass 2 should be airing? So many western shows start this week too that I feel like I need to start scheduling time to watch everyone else around them. :lol
|
Why are Toei wasting their time on Disk Wars Avengers when they should be making Deadpool: The Anime? :D

But when it works, it works, and he lent himself very well to the world of anime. |
Garo Anime Episode 1 - GO watch Berserk instead. This sucked and is pretty much just Berserk with Garo like armor in it and the monsters are named Horrors.
|
Ok trinity seven episode one: interesting start to story churikus on where it goes. Based on a monthly manga so I am going to read it as well due to it that interesting to me.

Death Note episode 21
Oh boy, Misa got in some shit. But I guess Rem still likes her enough to play along with her plan.... Episode 22 Finally, this arc got good. The pacing of this episode was really good because shit was actually happening and a plan was put into motion. But I'm scared to see what happens if Heguichi kills Matsuda straight out with a gun. |
Death note episode 23
Damn. The Yotsuba arc just went out with a bang. Episode 24 So this entire Yotsuba arc was just a ploy so Light could get the notebook back to kill L? I knew that the battles between them got longer and longer and more intricate but damn this took awhile. And Miss cut her lifespan on half again? How old is she again? I know she had that one Shinigami add to her life span but cutting it by 1/4th is still a significant loss. Episode 25 Holy Fuck. |
I don't really understand what I just watched, but I feel like I can adequately trick myself into thinking I do because this is basically what happens every time I try to make eggs. Even if I just default to scrambled.

Garo the Animation Episode 01
While the Animation does feel a bit odd, it certianly does not feel out dated just odd with that said you can easily tell most of the budget went towards the 3D CGI Garo suit Animation, and I must say for whatever budget they have the action is top notch as well the transformation sequence into a Maki Knight. I have no knowledge of the actually toku shows from before so I can't judge this based on as a Garo fan, but in terms of a Anime freak I will say it does have it promises. Gundam Build Fighter Try Episode 01 I don't know what it is but BF try really has me hooked for this fall season, it has great awesome soundtrack during the gunpla battles, an awesome opening song, and wicked introduction to Build Burning Gundam which was just epic. Sword Art Online II episode 14 A nice way to end the Phantom Bullet Arc. Tis is all. Shirobako Episode 01 Really like this slice of life anime right now might be a favorite of mine deciding on how it ends. Really shows you a bit of insight on how the Anime industry work which is neat. Psycho Pass Season 2 episode 01 Not as ground breaking or having that hook like it did with the first season of Pyscho Pass on that first episode, but it did keep me interested enough to see how the previous characters has grown, and how the new inspector will act in the future since she is pretty much "Enforcers are tools why should we care >:/ " . Joking aside I really can't wait to see how she acts in the future since it's a different take from Akane during her first time as inspector in season one. |
