I think there were 1 or 2 sets on pb but im not sure,. More than likely its BBTS scalping and trying to take buyers for a ride by marketing them as premium.

I think the pb set was artisan or something.

The candy toy stuff is incredibly hard to sell outside of Japan. The margins are super thin compared to figures and statues. They were really designed to be impulse buy and promotional stuff with inherent collectability (blind boxes, chase figures, sold as box sets etc) - all things that don't translate well when being brought over as import toys.

That being said, they've gotten so good now and many view them as outright collector's pieces which can sometimes be more rare than a Figure or DX toy. I hope Bandai can figure something out because the candy toy division is doing some amazing thigs right now.

Dang, those actually do look really cool. Wonder how well they work when displayed with a Figuart?

They're about the size of one of the acrylic logos - as far as I can tell - so pretty decently, I'd assume!

Bluefin's Team Rider has started venturing into SO-DO and SHODO. I really hope they can work out a profitable way to make candy toy stuff more available in the West.

Yeah, but that was only pb. The only way it can be profitable is if stores like Gamestop and Barnes and Nobles as well as other affiliates carry them. They already carry most of bluefins other blind box products, like the keyblades, but only bc they have a recognized and profitable fanbase. Rider would need to be as popular as anime or videogames to get stores to carry retail sodo and shodo. Otherwise, it feels like a pipedream.

The first real sign of success has come from Gundam G-Frame Candy toys being picked up by Target (like SODO, they require 2 boxes to complete a single main figure)

Whether that will continue remains to be seen. And of course, that is Gundam, which is much much more popular in west than Kamen Rider.

But hey, Bluefin has made huge strides in Kamen Rider presence in just this past year alone.

Yeah, they have, but it still seems like it'll be a while till rider is able to cement it's brand recognition into the minds of the western masses. Anime took like 20 years and gave gundam an easy in to the western market when bluefin brought it. If they continue to boost riders presence, we have a good shot at seeing shodo or sodo, but it will take a bit
