Because every time I find a solution to a bit of bad behavior with my new cat, she starts acting out in some new way to make up for it. Just a few weeks after I realized that she'll let me use my laptop in peace if I use it sitting on the couch instead of at my desk or a table, she decides she's done letting me sleep through the night as we'd been doing no problem for like 4 to 5 months. She starts jumping on my display shelves and desk and knocking things over or trying to chew on things. I try ignoring her because ignoring her got her to stop waking me up initially when I got her 6 months ago, but now I'm worried about my stuff. After she gets bored or gets yelled at enough, she sits in front of the door out of my room and yells to be let out for like 30+ minutes. Again, I've been trying to ignore her because she just wants attention, and it worked the first time, but today by the time she finally stopped and went back to bed it'd been over 2 hours of on and off activity and I was too awake to possibly fall back asleep. I could really use some advice

GET A DOG. Cats are a complete pain in the ass, and I never allow an animal I?m feeding and housing to run my household or Me. Put it in a cage at night and sleep, it won?t kill it and maybe it will learn

My cat isn't like that at all, but I do have a few things to note, cats generally push things off tables when they're feeling ignored as they feel lonely and want you to be with them, which tracks with your story here. Another one is that yelling at a cat scares them as they don't get why you're angry seeing as they can't understand human speech. My cat likes to sit on my lap and such, does yours try to do this? It might be a bit of a pain but I think she just wants your love. Obviously this may not entirely work out seeing as I'm not an expert and have a lazy cat myself, but I hope my post clears something up with behaivours, like, maybe some play time and toys could help

My doctor finally upgrade my HRT dose from 6mg E and 200 Spiro. Probably the best thing so far for my week considering how shitty yesterday was for me. Yesterday, my Uber driver dropped me off at the wrong location and refused to give me a refund despite me giving them the right directions. $10 wasted for nothing. I was stuck walking around in the rain until my mom picked me up.

I'm definitely going to work on playing with her more before bed. I'll also go back to picking her up and putting her back in bed since evidently ignoring her isn't working. A friend who's a former vet suggested she might just be bothered by the changing seasons, since cats can feel that sort of thing, the increase in rain lately.

I thought about locking her in her carrier, but a friend pointed out that might make her adverse to going in her carrier when she needs to for vets.

I highly suggest one of thode toys on a stick, cats may be quite different when it comes to favourite toys but they all like to scratch and bite playfully, so one of those will save your hands quite a bit. Also, mine tends to go on his belly when playing with one of these so yours might too but do *not* try giving her
a belly rub, cats feel super vulnerable if you do that and will go from happy fun playtime to "fuck off" in the blink of an eye

Speaking of pets my uncle just got himself a puppy. Unfortunately said puppy thought I was a stranger when I arrived home and kept barking at me before biting/pulling my shoes which tore a sizable hole in it. Luckily it was just a cheap knock off I use for work so I can at least get it easily replaced.

I have to admit, I'm not much of a dog person. A lot of dogs aren't well trained and will bark loudly and jump on people, not to mention keeping one as a pet seems like a lot of work. Not that all dogs are bad, but I feel like my second-hand exposure to other people's problematic canines has put me off ever wanting to have one as a pet. Cats and rodents like rats and guinea pigs have always been my companions of choice: they're low maintenance, easy to manage when you learn their behavior, and affectionate! Even my current cat, who is a terrible ex-feral gremlin, is largely just a puddle of mush nowadays, who can have his behavior corrected with a little *tsch* noise and the occasional gentle bap.

Oh i was being gentle by not mentioning my hatred of dogs but I have a strong distaste for them as I deliver mail for a living. Too loud for my rather sensitive ears and I've already been bitten before. That, and a lot of dog owners are bad dog owners in my experience

Ha, yeah, I'm aware of all that, I've had cats most of my life. Her favorite toy outside of her mice is a cloth ribbon on a stick. She goes crazy for it.

First cat I ever met was my dad's when I was like 5 and that little jerk hated me until the day he died. So needless to say my relationship with the species was off to a rocky start and I remain as suspect of them as I am of horses and lawn furniture.

Dogs are man?s best friends for a REASON- they don?t suck arse like Cats do and actually help you and love you unconditionally, unlike those snotty little things called cats. My 1st experience was trying to pet a cat as a child, getting bitten/scratched, so I grabbed it with all my 3-year old might and took a bite of it?s tail until I broke it in two. Hate hurting animals, but it truly effed me up. Never had a problem with that cat after that. Team Dog ALL DAY.
Dogs actually helped humans get where they are today, cats do NOTHING but invade areas and kill local wildlife in massive quantities. Eff Cats all day with a tire iron

I mean here's the thing, DH2 is voicing his personal experinces and his take, how ever you guys take it. Caling him weird and bad mouthing him is pretty shitty especially from you guys just bc he voices his hate for cats in a way you dont like, which he has a right to. Contrary to what the resident detectives on this forum call "sociopathic or psychotic behavior" of him biting a cats tail when he was "3" after a cat attacked him, is actually not socipathic at all. He was 3 for gods sake and the cat attcked him, toddlers do for a fact react to getting hurt and reciprocate, and even pull at animals reguarly regardless. They just dont have the tact on waht level or response to give like adults do, they just instinctively act. Most serial killers are emotionless as children, overly aggressive and attack without being provoked. They enjoy it, as well as regularly killing small animals and pets as their first kills. What DH2 did, as aggressive as it was, was a response to getting attacked by a cat he tried to interact with at "3". Toddlers react like that to getting hurt at times. A psycho would attack the cat unprovoked and gravely wound it, and enjoy the whole thing. Think about what you say before you open your mouth or type on a keyboard.

There's a difference between just not liking cats and going on crazy rants about how cats are despicable and deserve violence. It's a massive overreaction. Just say you don't like cats and move on. Considering they say not liking dogs makes you mentally ill, I can't imagine they wouldn't get equally defensive if someone were to post a rant about hurting dogs. I agree that someone calling them a serial killer goes too far, but you've gotta admit DH had a far from normal reaction to the mention of cats. My sister got jumped on by a random lab as a little kid, and was terrified of dogs for a good portion of her life and still isn't the biggest fan of them, but she doesn't go around telling dog owners that their beloved pets can get fucked with a tire iron

I'm nervous when around dogs. Weirdly, I'm fine when looking at them from afar, like looking at pictures of them, can play games and watch TV and films that feature them, and have a lot of dog plushies. Just scared to get too close to them in-case they bite me.
