It's about time that we a renewal of Agito. Shining Agito is one of my favorite figuarts, I'm so happy for this news.
|
I think we can reasonably expect the remaining Gaim releases to be relatively spread-out. They've shown they're not allergic to releasing Rider figures years after a the show has finished, as demonstrated by the Zeronos Vega Form solicitations.
As always, I expect sales to determine just how far they'll take it; I expect Ryugen Yomi and Marika to be significant factors. Sadly, I suspect whoever posted that a re-release of Shin Zangetsu is unlikely is right. If aftermarket prices were a factor at all, I'd expect them to re-release Kamen Rider Gai. Bandai blundered when they made Shin Zangetsu a web exclusive, but I don't expect them to address it. |
So I was totally wrong about that Tridoron listing being for a cockpit replica. Nice! Confirming my hopes that the headlights we've been seeing in promo shots are going to be actual working lights. Also confirming my worst fears of it being a Websop exclusive. Sad that Tridoron isn't a big enough deal for Bandai to do a full release.
That price, though. Ow. About $200 at the current exchange rate. Not sure I can stomach that, but then I'd be displaying Mach and Machine Chaser with their bikes and Drive wouldn't have his ride. We'll see. I think I'll probably still bite, but going to be a tough call. |
I have exactly zero problem with Tridoron being a web exclusive. It'll be a heck of a lot easier to get that way. Securing pre-orders for the bikes from Drive have been particularly brutal for some reason.
This is actual footage of bike pre-orders opening up at AmiAmi*: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qf1Uew_HVs [* - Not really] |
Tridoron is probably a web exclusive given how big the car is. I don't remember Tamashii ever releasing something that huge at retail in the past. The bigger the toy, the bigger the price. I don't think most buyers would pay 24840 Yen at local retail stores in Japan.

The Itasha Robo was both that price (more in fact) and a retail release.
|
I totally forgot about that. I don't follow Akibranger, so I have no idea how well it sold at the time.
|
Itasha was going to be my example as well. Because it was a robot they were able to release it under their SOC line, so they still haven't released something that expensive under the SHF line at retail as far as I know.
Really, the only reason I'm upset about it be Web Shop is that means no discounts. For such an expensive item, that kind of sucks. |

Soul of Chogokin figures are (usually) their own thing and strictly numbered as GX-xx. It used to be that you never saw anything but older mecha designs in that line too, but that's long since been thrown out the window with certain recent releases and even wholly made-up concepts like the Disney and Doraemon combiners. |
SOC releases are also not limited to robots. Bandai puts the chogokin label (not SOC) on pretty much anything that has some metal.
