So with the end of Convergence can anyone explain to me how it doesnt result in the destruction of pretty much all major universes?

I know what they are trying to do with it but it somehow just leaves me confused.

And just a heads up I havent read it myself yet.

Because in the end Brainiac returns characters he had kidnapped to their home timelines/Earths at just the time they were taken from. In the normal progression of history, each time a reboot happened the previous version of reality was gone. Like when Crisis originally happened and the multiverse condensed down to just New Earth. When the 52 came into existence in Infinite Crisis however those worlds returned. Brainiac has been plucking people from every timeline of New Earth as well as the other 51 Earths for the last 30 years or so for cataloging and study as their realities came in and out of existence.

In returning them the way he did, as in to the exact points in time they originated from, he not only saved their various worlds from destruction but also rebooted those other 51 Earths and simultaneously kept the natural progression of time on New Earth. As though history had not occurred any differently, reboot events and all. While the New 52 was a reboot that only affected the New Earth world, we had previously seen characters from Earth-3 (Crime Syndicate) & Earth-2 (JSA) make appearances as part of New 52 publishing as well. With no explanation for why those worlds were so different from the previous versions of them we had seen before. Convergence explains that when the characters were placed back where they were meant to go at the end of Convergence that these worlds evolved or rebooted themselves. Giving us the newer dark Crime Syndicate we saw in Forever Evil & the new youthful JSA characters we saw in the ongoing Earth 2 title.

Essentially rather than being a reboot of the New 52 New Earth as people imagined we instead got a full on reboot of the rest of the multiverse allowing for a huge huge number of new storytelling possibilities in those freshly changed worlds.
