All Ankh does is pout. That is it. For 36 episodes. No growth, no depth. Just pouting. It feels like he's in the wrong show. |

I watched episodes 15-17 of Kiva, I enjoyed seeing Jirou and Otoya work together and learn more about the Checkmate 4. Also Intrigued with this mini-journey Wataru is on and about Jirou and the other 2's promise to Otoya with Wataru. Also intrigued with Ixa's whistle stealing on Kiva. Very intriguing so far.

Its worse because it isn't like the show is incapable of good characters, Brotou has grown a lot over the course of the series and although Date and Eiji haven't exactly grown, they're both shrouded in mystery which they've unravelled at a very good pace to keep them constantly engaging. |

But yeah the trio of Eiji, Brotou and Date are the only reason im really enjoying this show. |

Watched 18-20 of Kiva, and When Otoya ends up in Wataru's body that is so much fun, I absolutely love how well he pulls off Otoya too. Nago is a very interesting character a cross between good and psychotic. I love Kivat so much too.

The most sympathetic thing his does is when he and Eiji actually team up. (which was awesome, not to spoil slightly) |
So my dumbass decided to watch Super Hero Taisen again, thinking it would be better this time watching it subbed. Nope, it was even worse thanks to actually understanding how they completely ****ed up Joe's character. Not to mention this movie is just down right boring. How the hell do you make a Sentai vs Kamen Rider movie BORING??!! I don't know, but they freaking did it.
|
I actually found Joe a lot more interesting and endearing in Taisen. Helps that he had so little character that it made him a tolerable character to watch.
Anyway, I'm seriously tired of the bullshit switcharoo every movie involving Decade and the Gokaigers are using, which is why I'm mildly peeved that Gokai Silver will play a prominent role in Taisen Z. |

I actually just meant foil as in the more technically used writing term of "opposite."

Fourze 39, the episode that seems happy to waste time, even when rushing things along. Even the fighting has become bland now as Gen goes Base uses a switch that he knows won't work and the goes to Cosmic, why he doesn't do that immediately is just another of the many questions I have around Fourze's always pacing. Meteor seems to rush more and more to his bland Beyblade form as well. The class president was a nice person last episode now BOOM he's Hitler. Oh I guess it was just the Switch... no need for actual character arcs, we have doodads! I guess the narrative jumps aren't as bad as Kuuga's. Taurus had a pretty good design though, haven't really cared for the Horoscope appearances since Cancer. What is even funnier (translation: more annoying) is basically the last twenty or so episodes have been completely pointless because any new characters introduced who seem to have a purpose and make you assume are gonna stick around are either dropped out of the show with a handwave explanation or forgotten about so all of their character introduction arcs come to nothing. I don't even know why they bothered keeping Miu and Shun in honestly as it undermined a great leaving arc for them and they've done basically fuck all since they returned. Or add Suspenders to the club who has also basically done fuck all since his introduction. Also Remember how the Hole above AGHS was going out of control because the second one was destroyed? Remember how this kicked the Chairman's end game into life? No? I thought not. |

Since Ryuki was getting kind of dull I decided to skip ahead to episode 16 of Wizard just because I wanted to at leats see the secondary rider.
Man, I really understand why some people say modern series stink compared to old ones now. Or rather, GODDAMN WIZARD IS FUCKING TERRIBLE. No kidding, there's literally not a single thing about that show worth watching. Beast is obnoxious, a terrible actor and just all around not the "show saving character" he was built up to be. He likes Mayo on everything HAHAHAHAHA stupid. (plus he's just... something about him makes him repulsive to look at, not to sound so horribly inhumanly cruel. He's not unattractive per-se, just I can't stand to look at him. Maybe it' how they dressed him) I'm sure the creator's thougth they were making this WONDERFULLY quirky character, but really he's just trying way the hell too hard. Literally every character in this show is insufferable, either because they're a terrible actor or terribly written. (usually both) The fights are bland, the music is dull as dishwater, the suits... eh, Wizard flame is alright and Beast is okay, but literally every variation of either just stinks. And the Beast Driver is just silly. It's HUGE and just hangs open, plus it sounds even worse than the Wizard Driver. The plot is meandering nonsense when it's not cripplingly simple and the villains are utter rubbish. Wow Medusa, you're seriously busting the Moth guy's chops for not killing Wizard instantly? Funny, because Mothman managed to poison him, you managed to LEAVE HIM ALONE WHEN HE WAS AT HIS WEAKEST. Lately I've been watching Ryuki, a bit of OOO, some of W with a friend and one of the Den-O movies. This all REALLY puts Wizard in perspective. There's literally nothing saving that show, and I'm surprised I didn't realise it earlier. I think the only reason I ever watched it period was because I wanted a new Rider series that was fresh and original instead of watching and old one I already knew about. Can't wait for Gaimu. |
I found Beast to be a breath of fresh air because he brought energy with him. Admittedly, Haruto's actor does learn the difference between acting stoic and being just plain boring, making him much more tolerable to watch (But this is late 20's-early 30's territory, so I wouldn't force you to watch to that point), but during the early episodes, he seemed uninterested, which made Beast's intrusions and activeness a nice change of pace.
I hated the mayo gag, and it's downplayed after, like, 8 episodes, btw. |

It feels like they were forced to add a secondary Rider but didn't want to, so they instead just chose this guy to stand around in the background for like thirty episodes. It's a real shame as well because the way Beast's powers work and his backstory should make for an extremely interesting Rider but Beast is just another bit of scenery dressing like 90% of the cast in this show. Kuuga may have had a lot of problems but at least they gave everyone something to do. I still stand by my love for Haruto, even if I too admit his upgrade forms kinda suck and I still really enjoy the action sequences. I also didn't know how much I cared about Phoenix until he was gone, Gremlin is pretty awesome though. Really my biggest problem with the Phantom's is the costumes, personalities and gimmicks they give to the human forms are usually far more interesting than what they give to the Phantom side and that is just bad. Still I like it more than what I've seen of W and Den-O overall, although I think OOO has pushed ahead from it for having such strong central characters - minus Ankh. OOO 37, dunno whether it is a bromance between Date and Brotou or a romance :lol either way another episode centred around Date, so another great episode. I hope this doesn't mean he's gonna die soon though and I don't want him to be evil either. :( Also wouldn't he have a scar on the back of his head from where the bullet went in? Also dat scene where Mezul rubbed Maki's cheek what the fuuuuuuck :lol |
SPLIT, what do you like? I think you hate Wizard just because that is the thing to hate right now. Wizard is no where near as bad as what you say, especially Beast. Now to be fair, I am reserving all of my final thoughts and feelings on Beast for when it ends, but it is far from being a terrible show. Decade is really the only KR series I would call terrible. Even the ones I don't like, such as Den-O and Kabuto, had things about them that made them enjoyable to watch and are not terrible. What about the use of mythology in wizard? Don't you even like that? That is one of the best things about the show. You are like an even more negative version of me, and I don't even know how that is possible.

Watched Kiva 21 and 22, enjoyed it I love the characters, Nago's mind I find very weird at times and I love Mio and Wataru together right now. Also Otoya and Jirou's love triangle with Yuri is so much fun.

I will always stand by Haruto as one of the best Heisei Riders, even with the show still unfinished. He's serious, he's dedicated to his job, he's willing to sacrifice himself to save others, and while he can be humorous, he doesn't ever become an over-exaggerated caricature just to give the audience some laughs. It's just a pity that the show can't decide if it wants to be early-Heisei style drama or Den-O-style broad comedy.
I will say, though, that Beast is easily one of the worst secondary Riders ever. I'm not saying I don't like the character, because I really do, but in terms of overall effectiveness he's about on par with the G3 suit from Agito. He looks flashy and has some cool abilities, but on a skill level he just plain sucks. |
Quote:
Not your statements of Haruto being one of the best, but other main riders being pastiches of Den-O. I've yet to see Kuuga or Agito, but you defend them like mad, but Shinji in Ryuki was a fairly serious character, the comedy stemming from his interactions with Ren and Kitaoka, Kazuma I don't recall ever being funny outside of the odd filler, Tendou's humor came from how Kagami reacted to him, but was otherwise straight laced, Wataru...Alright. Tsukasa, they had no idea what to do with him to begin with, Shotaro was lighthearted, but he was very similar to Haruto in his resolve and action while simultaneously being able to crack a smile, Eiji wasn't a very humorous character at all, being more optimistic and happy, but he wasn't just cracking jokes or doing slapstick (Outside of the underwear bit that I don't recall was brought up very often), and Gen...Alright. You seem to divide the Riders as "SUPER SERIAL" Kotaro, "LESS SERIAL" Godai, or "COMIC NONSENSE" Ryotaro, but I just don't see where you get that, when the riders seem to only start being less serious post Decade, and, even then, the likes of Eiji and Shotaro aren't anywhere near expies of Den-O, treating their world and scenario with a serious demeanor. Haruto and Eiji are my favourite man Riders so far into my journey into Kamen Rider. Godai is my least.
Date is by far my favourite secondary Rider (although Meteor wins on design, powers etc), Beast is my least. |
Quote:
Tsukasa my least (Shocking, I know.) For secondary Riders...I think it'd either be Kagami or Yuuto for my favorite, while my least favorite would be Kaitou (Though, for Diend's sake, it's less that I dislike him, it's just that other secondary Riders are more interesting). |

While the rest of Wizards' cast would fit in Den-O, yes, but what is Haruto doing that every other main Rider bar, Ryotaro, Wataru, and Gentaro, aren't? |

You people are a self-parody at this point. I mention that I don't like ONE show and it's all "what DO you like?" Oh, so you paid enough attention to me to apparently find out I hate everythign ever but wasn't paying attention when I defended OOO all, through Locke's bashing of it's lore? If you want to make smart remarks, try a bit harder to get the whole story first, huh? Quote:
I hate Wizard because it sucks and has no redeeming value. I didn't even know Wizard WAS the thing to hate. Outside of this thread I don't take part in any discussion of Wizard. Quote:
I love it, I just love how TFW it is in here. I'm nothing but "I love this, this is good, having fun with this" and I talk about how one show is genuinely awful and it's "DOO U LIEK ANYTIGN LIK COM ON" responses. I though Tokunation was better than that. Quote:
Haruto is dull as dirt and is incapable of facial expresson. Nothing about him is unique, memorable, or again, done any better than any other rider. He's serious and convicted? Uh, so is literally every single Kamen Rider ever. He's not atrocious, but he's easily the blandest. And really, overall there's nothing to the show. Den-O is chock full of amazing characters and W has probably one of the best main Riders ever and an awesome backstory to the show itself and you say "plain sugar" is better? (granted you JUST started Den-O and you literally stopped RIGHT BEFORE they started the world building in W so I can't blame you for anything more than calling it too early) |
Don't worry. I mentioned that I didn't like Gokaiger and I got labeled a hater for weeks. :p
