Exactly. I torrent the hell out of everything I watch. Until a physical media option is available, if one is at all. At which point I trade up. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Torenting is complex? Is it really that complicated to go on google and search for the files that you need?

The only time I've had a problem with torrents is when I find a file I need that isn't going anywhere because no one's seeded it in like, forever.

Like I don't mind streaming if it is on something I can watch on my PS3/PS4, but for the most part, I would rather just download it and if it is good enough, buy it when it comes to BD unless it doesn't come with an English dub (well for anime, live action I only care if it is subbed).

Just saying that just because you guys will support the official release regardless of torrenting doesn't mean everyone who torrents does that.

Well that is a given. Hell, one of my friends has over 2000 anime series on his external hard drives and he didn't pay for a single one of them. He loves to gloat about how much anime he owns to, even though he hasn't even watched a fraction of them, he still likes to talk about owning them. He refuses to support official releases because doesn't like dubs and he doesn't like the fonts the official companies use. :rolleyes

Now people like that are just silly. I just take for granted that a certain percentage of people torrent/download in general. Hell in the toku fandom it's the easiest way to enjoy new weekly shows as they release. But owning that much stuff and never buying anything official is awful.

I guess he forgets that official anime dvd releases always have subs. Not buying dvd's or blu-rays from official companies because of dubs is dumb. I always buy dvds and blu-rays of anime when they are brought over it officially. Same with streaming on CR and Funimation. I also buy manga from my official book store. I only use Manga Fox if it's a series that I can't buy here in the US.

I only use illegal manga stuff if I just want to read it bad enough like MonMusu and Nurse Hitomi.

I always try to support the official release even if there is no dub.
especially Sentai Filmworks because they bring over the good stuff.

I was talking to my mom about Gundam today, and it dawned on me that there's one appeal about Gundam that I really see hasn't been talked about or publicly appreciated that much, and that is the space aspect.

I really really like the space aspect to Gundam, especially, U.C., which its conflict was founded upon. Not just to see the cool technology, but to see how humanity has matured and what sort of things space brings to the human experience.

Anyone agree with me?

I've seen the first episode of Iron Blooded Orphans, and I liked what I saw. It's been a while since I got into Gundam, so returning to it is pretty exciting. :)

Iron Blooded Orphans keeps getting better and better with every week.

Mika is just so damned brutal and I love it.

So I decided to watch iron blood on crunchy roll yea it's a week late due to daisuke owning stream rights for sharing so crunchyroll had it week late so I be watching episode two tonight next week episode three

The HG team did an excellent job translating both the God and Shining Gundams into plastic. They're just fun to mess around with.

The title of this week's episode made no allusions to its content. It was satisfying to see them take charge of their situation, but man if it wasn't surprising to see Mika do what needs doing. Serious game face on that fella.

Love Episode 3 of IBO. Something I really liked about this episode was that the kids in CGS are stern enough to drug their superiors and kill 2 guys on the spot, but give fair pay leave to the people who left or will continue to work with them. I also love that the accountant got spared, lol. Orga seems like a pretty stern but fair guy with all the decisions he's made so far.

The fight scene was great. Not that different from the other fight scenes we've had (but good god that mace tip piercing the Graze was pretty brutal), but still good. I also love sort of the awkwardness of when the commander guy wanted Mika to kill him, with him emotionally reaching out and Mika just not responding to it.

Now that we've got this initial Gjallerhorn attacking the base stuff out of the way, is the next thing that is going to happen that they're gonna go find Kudelia's rich friend to keep Tekkadan going? That's what I think, but the previews kinda made it seem like they're just sort of waiting around.

And hey, Barbatos has that one Graze's shoulder pad. So they are at least using the interchange armor stuff.

I've seen the original, Wing, G, 08th MS Team, SD Gundam Force, parts of SEED and one episode of AGE. I was curious about Build Fighters, but I didn't really know what it exactly was outside of the Gunpla elements. I do want to get more into Gundam, though.

Oh cool! That's a decent amount of series, but not too much either. Since you've seen the original series, I have to recommend the 0079 movies as well, along with the Zeta series and its movies too. Zeta's a great show and has much higher stakes and much cooler action then 0079. Actually, the movies and Zeta should be getting re-released soon, so now's the perfect time to jump in.

I also recommend 00 by default. 00 is great. It has great action, a tightly-knit fast-paced story, cool characters and MSes, along with a great world. It has 2 seasons, so be sure to watch them in order, and the movie is pretty awesome as well, at least to me. It's my favorite Gundam series and my favorite anime, so take my recommendation with a grain of salt. In order to watch these, however, you're either gonna have to find some old DVDs, or go find it online somewhere. I rented the series and movie from my library so maybe check there?

Well, obviously. It stands on it's own, and doesn't suck. Those are two things you don't often see together in Gundam. IBO might change that, though.

Well, what a Gundam usually looks like is something along the lines of the RX-78:

Your "really unorthodox" design pretty much is the Turn A. Designed by Syd Mead for Turn A Gundam, and looks very different. Lots of curves, very streamlined, and very different weapons.

Are you doing this just to spite watch a Gundam show? Look for a design people dislike and cling onto the show for dear life? Because I know you were on SEED Destiny because we all dislike it, so I hope you don't go into a show just to spite others. There's other great Gundam shows out there that you could actually enjoy for your own interest in those shows.

Which Gundam kits would be good for newbies?

I don't know that much about newbie-accessible gunpla, but 2ndSndWve says the HGUC revive RX-78-2 is a good place to start.

00, Seed, and Wing seems to get tossed around alot by the newbies.

I thought Seed was okay when it was on Toonami. I didn't like Seed Destiny that much when it first aired on Adult Swim. A lot of fans seems to hate Seed Destiny.

SEED has a lot of nice mobile suit designs...but it's pretty much Gundam for young girls.
