I gather that Figuarts have come a long way and that is great but when you get figures as poorly made as Flame Style or figures that are known for not having the ability to get in their signature pose or known for weak joints or whatever you just wanna say 'sort it out'. I only buy Figuarts as it's the only way most of the time to get figures of my favourite heroes. But I've honestly not had the best experience with most of the figures, when I consider the price and their fanbases review of them. |

At cheapest a Figuart is around 20 quid but that can range from there up to about forty quid and beyond. Your standard figures in shops, or like Neca toys or Marvel Legends or what have you range from about a fiver to at most fifteen quid. And although there are some like 20 - 25 pound figures of like super articulated marvel heroes you can find them for like a fiver on eBay. They are the some of the few things on eBay that get marked down rather than ridiculously marked up. |
Figuarts are really overhyped. So far the only ones touted as perfect and actually live up to that claim are the Ryuki ones.

A figuart RRPs for £20-25, whether it be a web exclusive or otherwise. Any other cost comes from middleman fees, a mark up from stores simply because they're old or an "exclusive" or simply because sellers on ebay think they cost more because they're Japanese. If you pay "three times the price of an average action figure" that's because you CHOSE to pay that much. It isn't what these things retail for. |

Also design and quality control are things that have tangible significance. If a line contains a bunch of figures with widespread quality control and design isues it's not really ''the new standard of action figures.'' |

And for the record - last month I bought Super Akiba Red, Kamen Rider Beast and Dragonranger from Amiami. The total cost including shipping? £55. So yeah. Your numbers are extremely exaggerated. |

And so in terms of quantity of accessories the Figuarts win out but people acting like they are the cream of the crop quality wise at their price range are kidding themselves. |
SH Figuarts for me has personally been fantastic, but it's far from a perfect toyline. Regrettably, a line as good as this one is very easy to talk up and therefore set expectations beyond what is reasonable for a mass-produced action figure line at its price point. Unfortunately, personal bias on either side is far too easy to allow to dominate a conversation.
A classic example is my original Ultra-Act Ultraman figure, the first release in the line. People expected as great or better than Figuarts quality from it, with the advantage of being slightly larger. Turns out, Bandai didn't use the same construction as in Figuarts (to this day I'm not sure why), and while Ultraman had a lot of joints, his construction and fit of those parts was terrible, leading to rampant floppiness and parts leprosy. And yet, mine was fine. Nothing was loose, nothing fell apart with ease, he could pose and balance as well as your typical Figuarts... the fact that my Ultraman was good and no one else's seemed to be became a running joke. That didn't mean that I used my personal experience of the line to claim that it was all user error or craziness on the part of other owners, nor did anyone come to me claiming I was full of shit because I could hold my figure, shake it in my hand, and no limbs would fall off. The truth is usually somewhere between the extremes of vocal opinion on the internet, and it takes a careful analysis and experiences to separate hype and hate from legitimate criticism, and to recognize that flukes happen too - sometimes people get a bum figure, and in the cases of outright garbage, sometimes someone gets lucky with a figure that works as fully intended. Oh, and not to antagonize the point, I know nothing about the NECA Evil Dead line in particular, but the reputation NECA has for toys with bad, stuck joints and even the odd case of breaking right out of the package, a case of Ash breaking apart would not surprise me. Bonus points if it's a hand. :lol |

Not all Figuarts are perfect, but out of the 25-30 I own the only I feel wasn't worth the price I paid for him is TaToBa, which while wasn't brilliantly received many people didn't seem to have the same problems with when I expressed hatred for mine when it arrived. On the flipside, Flame Style is hands down the best Rider figuart I own (so that's out of Ouja, CycloneJoker, TaToBa, Fourze, Meteor and Wizard...haven't opened Beast yet). Aside from the driver, mine doesn't have any of the falling apart issues that you mentioned with yours. Same goes for my Deka Blue. |

A lot of people like to compare them with SIC. I come across way more issues on those than I do with figuarts. They're not so much issues as all the part swapping gimmicks result in a figure that likes to fall apart. They're still amazing, but not "solid" like figuarts. |
Hey Guys Apart from one Off Camera Scene in the Video this i think on of my Best first stright out of Box Reviews i did. it is now live http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJ1ml...ature=youtu.be

I've played with my Dragonranger a lot and I have tried very hard to get into that exact pose, but I've found it impossible for a variety of reasons. 1. No stability in the hands for holding the Zyusouken. The right hand does not properly grip the blade's handle and the left hand offers no support. 2. Not enough articulation in right and left arms to move to that position, center of the figure with the Zyusouken's mouthpiece up to his mouth, while still keep everything else on the figure in the right position. 3. He cannot hold the Zyusouken horizontally with that combination of hands. After a lot of effort, here's the best pose you can get him in playing the Zyusouken with both hands. It is very similar to the one on the box, because its horizontal and up to his mouth and relatively center to his body, but I had to just use the weapon-holding left hand, rather then the hand used on the box: http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/...psdcf85130.jpg Quote:

I'm still relatively new to Figuarts, so here's a question - I know rereleases do occur, but are they limited to the main rider of each individual series or do some of other riders on each series get rereleased too?
I only asked because I noticed Knight w/Dark Wing listings on eBay are rather high (they're BINs, so those tend to run high anyways), over $100. It's something I'd like to own eventually, but not at that price, so I was just wondering if something like that version of Knight would be a candidate for a rerelease or if I'm stuck to stalking Mandarake, AmiAmi pre-owned listings or elsewhere for it since it's long gone from online retailers. |
It's not just main riders, the Hopper brothers have been rereleased before. It is pretty erratic what gets rereleased, though. I imagine they have to realize the demand for Knight so I can see it getting a rerelease eventually. Especially since Ryuki got one earlier this year and the Ryuki figuarts are a continuing theme.
I would wait on Knight if you can only find him at a big mark-up. He doesn't seem to be climbing any higher, and you can probably afford to wait on a possible rerelease. BTW I read a rumor that Shadow Moon is getting a rerelease this year, but we'll have to just wait and see. |
Shadow Moon will be getting reissued when Black 2.0 comes out.

I just realised. When does he hold the handle of the dagger if the finger holes (sorry I don't know what they're called I've played the flute like three times) are on the blade? What's he tapping his fingers on?
|
Yeah, I've gotten my DR to play the flute like it is on the box after I fiddled around with it.
BTW, Tyranno Ranger's joints are nice and tight. |
Beast and DragonRanger arrived today...
Most interesting thing about the two? The packaging. Seriously, I find it... interesting. For starters, the standard silver insert for Beast when other recent Riders have had fancier inserts is somewhat disappointing. :P But besides that, I find it really interesting how both figures simply have a set-in cover for their trays. I've only ever seen that before on secondary trays for larger accessories. There's no unnecessarily massive outer shell for these two. I like it and it's clearly a cost-saving measure. But dang popping those out sends hands flying more than the shells ever did haha. Beast... Yeah, the guy's go no abdomen. And it's noticeable... But you can arch his back and expose quite a bit of his stomach tucked inside there to help with the look. I really don't get why his abdomen is so curved. The new neck piece that debuted with the other Wizard styles is great - clearly meant to get over the collar and it helps. It doesn't look bad either. I only wish Flame Style had it. Everything else I like. Although I am tempted to through away the mayo bottle in disgust. :P DragonRanger... Well, he's my first Sentai Figuart. And he kind of does make me wish I had gotten GokaiSilver like I kept telling myself to. Zero flops to his joints, although there is something rattling inside of him when shaken (gently of course) that's kinda weird. I think it's the shoulder covers? Hard to tell with the shield blocking them for the most part. I haven't tried the dagger pose everyone's up in arms about, but so long as I can get close I won't be too upset. I really do like him, which is good, because it was essentially a pure nostalgia buy. |

Is 35 quid worth it for Flame Dragon? After so much disappointment with Flame Style and hearing that this figure improves upon the issues, I wanna grab it to have a good representation of Haruto in my collection.
The actual figure is like twenty five quid but that is the lowest I can find him and that is on the US Amazon, so shipping, handling and import fees bump it up to 35. |
Got my Dragonranger, Beast and Cho Akiba Red last night but only had time to open and mess around with Akiba Red.
I'm pleasantly surprised as I was expecting it to be a slight remold of the original and not have different hips. Wonderful amount of accessories too! |
