But that's not why I dug through 10+ pages of topics to find it. I just knew that my previous list wasn't how I felt now, so I needed to post a new one. |

Dang, thank you EpsilonX for jumpstarting this thread again.
To save everyone the trouble, one major rule I have set two years ago is to renew your top 5s only if it has been at least a year since your last top 5s so just look out for that. Also, follow the format below, as well as a comment or two about what you like about the suits or suit. That would be nice. :) And one more thing, I would like to add an honorable mention section as of this year, so those who posted this year and want to add it feel free to do so. BUT ONLY ONE PER CATEGORY. Without further ado, here is mine for this year: TOP 5 SUIT DESIGN (TEAMS) https://36.media.tumblr.com/0fcc35d7...t2yao1_500.png 1. CARRRRRRRRRRANGER! Even up to this day do they have the most intricately-designed suits. And they pretty much saved the franchise with laughter and making themselves the butt of the joke. And also this happened. http://i.imgur.com/ONUrvJJ.jpg http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/...20100201040703 2. Megaranger. I bump this to 2nd place. Again, simple, clean, and timeless. http://i.imgur.com/vU5StmF.png 3. Ninninger. The show did not live up to the initial hype, but this felt like it went the next level in terms of design for a ninja team. It is slightly more intricate than Hurricanger and Kakuranger, the shuriken visors and scroll sash that has their stylized logo(which is the "nin" of the word ninja) works well, and I like the color palette overall. http://i.imgur.com/cjMOaqD.png 4. Dairanger. Like I said before, 1990's Super Sentai design at its finest. Nuff said. http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/...20140124051919 5. Maskman. To be honest I don't know how their design embodies light or aura given that the design can seem rather generic, but boy are the suits one of the best designed from the 80s. HONORABLE MENTION http://i.imgur.com/2eaRpwa.jpg Kakuranger. The OG Ninja team that gave us the voice of Skull Man and Kane Kosugi. TOP 5 SUIT DESIGN (INDIVIDUAL) http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/...20150328211524 1. Starninger. It is the perfect meld of burgers, ninjas, cowboys, and a fresh pile of yippee ki-yay. http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/...20141225224447 2. Aoninger. Probably the best designed out of the core five. Plus I have been getting flashbacks of NES Ninja Gaiden watching him in action and that music video Wizards Never Die. http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/...20140207041748 3. Geki Chopper. Recently watching Kamen Rider Ghost reminded me how awesome this suit was and still is. Probably the first to incorporate a karate belt as far as I can remember. http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/...20140207171935 4. Go-on Red. The next best condor since Black Condor. AND. goes well with other team's gear. https://i.imgur.com/Nn6KMFR.png 5. Shinken Green. I personally like the green hue and his visor for the kanji that means wood feels the most balanced. Plus, he went all the way to hyper aside from Red and Gold. Reminds of that time Zach got the dragon shield. HONORABLE MENTION http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/...20140213205159 Stag Buster Did not make it this year but it's J. You can't hate him. |
Interestingly enough, I disagree with half of your team picks haha.
Anyways, since I completely forgot that there were "rules" for this thread, I may as well re-post my list to better fit the rules. I'd go back and edit my most recent list, but let's face it: nobody is going to see it. Also, I'm terrible at explaining why I like something, so bear with me. Dairanger http://supersentai.com/database/1993...-dairanger.jpg The helmets have a nice design and I really enjoy how the white acts as more of a vest, instead of just being a pattern. Flashman http://supersentai.com/database/1986...p-flashman.jpg There's a great balance of colors and a nice, sleek design in these suits. Ninninger https://ilblogvuotodinidellaneum.fil.../ninninger.jpg The black arms and necks really make the main colors pop, and the sashes with the logo make the suits more interesting visually. Zyuohger http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/...20151225220152 The series isn't even out yet and these suits are already in my top 5. I think what really draws me to these suits is how simple they are: no patterns or multi-layer designs, just a solid color with a drawing of their animal over it. They're unique and pleasing to the eye. I'm a fan of the jagged edges of the gloves too. Gokaiger https://38.media.tumblr.com/f13e95c8...9xJ1rjyevc.png Another design that has a balance of black and the suit's main color. I'm rather indifferent towards the helmets, but the jackets are another unique design that is striking, provides a nice balance of color, and actually makes sense. I suppose I'm just not a fan of random patterns on a suit. Honorable mention: Ohranger http://data.whicdn.com/images/18950892/original.jpg Another simple design that doesn't rely on weird patterns (I'm looking at you, Zyuranger's diamond pattern). These suits only get an honorable mention because I really don't like Red's visor. |
I love Flashman's suits, but I just don't like the bubble style visors, which deters me a bit too much, personally.

Huh, I hadn't really taken in Ninninger's suits properly, since I'm only watching fully-subbed Super Sentai right now. They look really good! Maybe I should watch the beginning of that show....
