Is this show more enjoyable having seen Amazon first?

Not really, it just uses the designs and the name "Amazon", it's a complete reboot. Has nothing to do with the old show.

Maybe you get a nostalgic kick out of it if you saw Amazon when it aired but you can't really replicate that feeling anymore.

Only in that you get a little more out the animal choices for the Amazons, since some (not sure if all) are updated versions of the kaijin from the original. But that's about it.

Episode 7 started off making me feel so happy, but by the end, made me worried...not ready for the next episode. lol

It really only makes a difference when the show tosses in an easter egg from the original series, like the moment in episode one when Mamoru's nose opened up to look like a flower. The original has pretty much no bearing on the modern version apart from the influence on the designs and savage fighting styles.

I figured plot-wise it was pretty self-contained, I was more thinking along the lines of Easter eggs and spiritual connections.

I haven't seen either, and plan to watch both. Just not sure which I should watch first. I'm thinking probably the original Amazon.

Another good episode this week, I liked it a lot. Stupid cliffhager at the end but oh well.

Another with a belt. Looks like it might be a big bad to get Alpha and Omega to finally team up, which will annoy me.

God, this show is so good. I want a second season to complete the alphabet and I want this to become a regular thing. Give us a serious and mature adult Rider series while the main show can just keep getting sillier and kiddier. I can deal with as much slapstick, funny faces, and fisheyed lenses as Toei wants to give me so long as we can balance it with more shit like Amazons.
