It's been so long though, not to mention Geats came 5 years after the last Rider who'd stick 2 things in his belt, Build with W being about 13 years old. Blade has it's 20th next year

I think the main issue with cards these days is that they don't do anything by themselves. That's not the biggest issue, most of the Raise Buckles don't either, but it probably is something the Toei design team is considering. Then again, Ultra Seems to work fine with them, but Ultra also doesn't have as many roleplaying gimmick toys that they have to work between.

With cards being the rumored gimmick for next season, that got me wondering something. Cards seem to be playing an upcoming major role in Outsiders, with Sakuya trying to fuse the Rider Cards with the Rouse Cards. I wonder if there is gonna be some kind of connection?

I dont think so but if Gotchard becomes a show about cards I can see Toei tying it in later to fit the show somehow.

Watch this be an Ex-Aid/Build situation and the actual Rider Motif/gimmick has nothing to do with cards

Yes, but cards can attract non-fanatic collectors who otherwise would not buy anything or limit themselves to one toy. Still, not everyone has whole rooms for merchandise from their favorite show, and storing a deck of cards is much more convenient than all rider buckles or visestamps. And for selling toys, they can focus on weapons.

People are being too limited thinking that cards can only be little squares of cardstock.

If Gotchard uses cards in some way, it's not a stretch to imagine those cards might be based on credit cards or Pasmo/Suica cards. In that case, they could be little plastic slabs with an RFID chip and a speaker in it, like basically every other collectible widget from the last 15ish years.

Modeling the collectibles off of payment cards would pair well with the theorized Gatcha component. Like, maybe you have to use points/credits by scanning Suica-like cards to pay for your transformations. That's just an idea, but you see what I'm saying. There are a lot of ways "cards" can be interpreted.

Whatever the case, I don't think a card gimmick automatically means we'd be getting a rehash of the early-00s when trading cards were the main collectible for every franchise.
