Finally got myself to really get into Zyuranger. I've seen the first 6 episodes plus the Eyeguy episode years and years ago with really bad subs. I've been holding off for a few reasons and now just felt right to finally watch it.

So I've gotten through the first 5 episodes. As I said, I've seen these episodes before, but I found them more enjoyable this time around. Probably due to better subs and my ability to handle subtitles now. I like the questing for the weapons in 3-4. Hope to see more of that. Not a lot to say, just reminds me how enjoyable 90's setai is with a side of nostalgia from PR.

I'm told it gets better when Knight shows up, so I want to get to that point, but man. 3 episodes in and I don't even want to continue.

Seriously man if you can make it to 15 you will really enjoy the show. Once Knight and the Yuuma Beasts show up it's smooth sailing. Just think of it like Blade, you have to force your way through the beginning but there is a payoff.

Gekiranger Episode 4. One thing I notice, this show seems to be moving a lot faster then any other Sentai I've seen. This is just the 4th episode, and we already have a near-defeat-fight-to-survive episode with the Elite Sentai Kaijinranger. Gekiranger could very well be my favorite Sentai show at this rate.

Ok so Ive watched all of Go-busters thus far,Gokaiger, Goseiger, Shinkenger, about half of Zyuranger and now Im on Boukenger... Please tell me this show gets better.. 3 episodes in and I dont like one character on the show at all, and yes I realize 3 isnt usually enough to discern what the hell is really happening but come on. Sorry for the mini rant I just figured Id ask! lol

Dude Boukenger seriously has some of the best ranger suit and mecha designs out there. It's one of my all time favorite sentais. It's fairly episodic up until around episode 10 then things take an awesome turn. And the Quester/Bouken Silver arc is where the show goes in an even better direction.

Thats exactly what I was hoping to get as an answer. I love the suits and mecha, I think Daibouken is a great design. I was just hoping Id like it more from the beginning..

While I don't doubt that Bouken improves in quality, I don't think design alone should be a reason to continue watching a series.
If you want to see a series that has great designs but will bore you to tears, look at Sun Vulcan :lol

Is it just me or does anyone else have an issue with that ridiculous snaggle tooth that Bouken Black has? I weirds me out and I cannot take him seriously LOL

It baffles me how Sun Vulcan is apparently so popular. Its by far the poorest Sentai series I've watched, and pretty much everyone else who's watched it that I've spoken to shares the same opinion :lol

I'm at Scroll 38 of Hurricanger. I really am liking Furabijo! I just find her so cute the way she moves, talks and acts.

Also at Act 36 of Shinkenger. I just noticed that whenever they eat at Gold Sushi Mako and Chiaki always seats at the side while Takeru, Ryonosuke and Kotoha are seated at front. I just found it interesting that the 2 people who's not into the Lord/Retainer shtick are the ones on the sides. I guess they don't feel the need to protect Takeru at all times.

Yes. Masumi has the most epic of snaggleteeth. Apparently it's a hot/cute thing in Japan for men and women. He does not pull it off though :lol
Yes! No one ever speaks highly of that show, and yet somehow the rest of the internet thinks it's a masterpiece. Hell even Akibaranger made fun of it.

I am enjoying Gekiranger , but there is 3 language barriers that i have to contend with in the subs. The Japanese , the kung-fu words that i am sure they are making up and whatever Jan is saying! I almost feel like not even bothering with reading the subs :lol

I've seen one episode of Sun Vulcan (the Halloween-ish episode) and it wasn't bad. Nothing special.

I actually like Sun Vulcan's suit design. It's pretty cool.

That always baffled me too. I guess it being a Showa series means it gets a free ride.

Yeah. It's rather odd. If I recall, a lot of the kung fu they say is super repetitive (Like Jan's "Hou Hou Dan" translates to "Gun Gun Bullet", and would sound extremely silly if read aloud :p)
And isn't Jan's made up words entirely made up? And Retsu and Ran just interpret them by context?

Sun Vulcan's popularity is obviously based on the awesome theme song. It is the best Showa Sentai theme. I can't defend the show outside of that! FOLLOW THE SUN! CATCH THE SUN!

Have I mentioned I like Toshiki Inoue? :p He's far pass his prime, but his best works are among the best of Super Sentai and Kamen Rider.

Despite us differing greatly in opinion on Akibaranger, I also find Dairanger to be about as interesting as a jar of mayonnaise.

Hikari Senshi have done two different scripts for Gekiranger - one that translates everything (to the point its called Beast Fist Fighters Wildranger), and one that keeps all the nouns and things in Japanese. To my knowledge they tried to translate the Jan stuff in the latter one, but I can't comment on how good it is because I've never watched it.

Also, throw me into the Dairanger was kind of boring camp. It wasn't awful like Sun Vulcan, but its not the godly series people make it out to be.

Yeah, Jetman and Agito are great. But he also wrote Faiz, Kiva, the bastardized ending of Hibiki, The First and The Next, and that part of Movie War Core. For me he's well worn out any good will I had for him.

If you consider DaiRanger boring, you must find nearly every Sentai boring since Dai is light years better than every other Sentai out there. The only thing that comes close to it is KakuRanger.

Anyway, I cannot comment on SunVulcan, but if you want to see boring, watch Dynaman.

Dairanger is not the gold standard for sentai dude. It's an okay show with great designs, it's not a masterpiece. Everything is not held to a bar that it set. There are plenty of sentai more fun and interesting than that show.

I completely disagree on that. It IS a masterpiece. The action is incredible. The mythology is interesting and unique. The villains are awesome (not the best, the Saima Clan are the best), but the Monsters of the Week are some of the best designs in the entire series. It has the best mecha and I think the best special effects out of any Sentai series. RyuuSeiOu alone out does everything in the effects department for Sentai. The music is great, the fight scenes are among the best (especially those between Ryo and Jin), and the story is so amazing. The only thing I can complain about the show is not enough development for Kazu, but he is by far the best yellow ranger ever. And the episodes he does have, he truly shines in them, especially against the drunken tofu monster.

Like I said, KakuRanger is the only other show that comes close to matching Dai, but nothing else has done so for me, even shows like Car, Aba, and Geki.

And maybe for it's time all of what you said is true. I think it's just fine and there are plenty of people who love it like you do. But it just was really broing for me. The ranger suits and mecha are absolutely glorious. But I found the villains to be bland and uninspired both design and characterization wise. The show felt boring overall, not dramatic and epic.

But of course I find that I enjoy the shows that can handle light heartedness and comedy better; Carranger, Go-Onger, Akibaranger, Goseiger, Boukenger.

Yup, that pretty much sums it up for me too. Didn't help that Ryo, Daigo and Kou were the only ones that had any form of reasonable character development either.

Love Dairanger, although it's not my absolute favorite Sentai series, it'd easily make my top 5.

Anyway TV-Nihon got back to Megaranger so I watched episodes 32-34.

They've been seriously cranking those out. Getting my hopes they'll actually finish it in the next 6 months. So I actually torrented the first batch to give it a shot :lol Never seen any actual Megaranger.

Ha, I know man. I'm sure it'll be a while but who knows, they've been really cranking it out. That and the occasional Zyuranger episode.

CarRanger and AkibaRanger are the only ones in your there that I actually like. Boukenger wasn't terrible, but BoukenSilver really brought the show down on a massive scale for me. The other two are two of the worst Sentai series I have ever seen. Dynaman (and possibly Gobusters) is the only series that I would say is worse.
