Ultraman X Episode 2 was another great one. Spoilers ahoy!
I enjoyed how they considered the monster's side of the story, how it wreaking havoc on humanity was simply an attempt to protect its egg. It added layers of complexity to the monster fight than simply "monster shows up, gets beaten by Ultraman." Again, the kaiju effects are breathtaking. There's really a sense of scale, that there is a battle of titans going on all around the human characters. Dr. Guruman's an interesting character. :lol It's not the first time I've seen his species, but it's nice to see them return again as a friendly race. This bit of world-building is awesome. |

I will suggest Nexus and UltraSeven X because you can finish them relatively quicker than other series. Sadly Nexus is only 37 episodes but it's an amazing series. |
Ultraman X episode 3 is pretty good.
|
Yeah I'm hooked on this show now, great looking Kaiju-battles and likable characters without too much bullshit. The lab-girl is annoying as hell but I have the slight feeling even she will receive some development later on.
Anyway, Episode 3 was great. The night battle looked phenomenal, loved every second of it. |
This episode was kind of a mixed bag for me. The battle at the end was superb as always. I always like when fights take place at night and this one is no different. I also love how this show gets across how massive the scale of these battles are. Something thats always missing from Sentai and Riders giant battles.
I also liked that we got our first runner introduced in the show. Really intrigued to find out whats up with the shrieking women. And now the part or parts I really disliked. First of all the acting of that Tachibana Lady is terrible and I mean really terrible and second I dont like the subplot Asuna got in this episode. Especially since I dont know how I´m supposed to read it. The way it is presented is that because she was good at Kendo a boy she liked wouldnt go out with her so she decided to be super girly to get boys to date her...which is an awful message for girls. On the other side I could see the show trying to make the case that you can be tough and still want to embrace your really feminine side which is completely fine. But like I said the way it was handled in the episode presents the whole thing more like the first scenario. I hope the show picks up on that again since how it stand now I think this was a terrible move on the shows part. |
UltraMan X Episode 3: Dr. Gourman is hilarious, sheesh 13 meals that's a lot. I also like that he created the blaster with the power of UltraMan X, that's good that the XiO team has the power to fight the Kaiju besides just UltraMan; that's one of my favorite parts of UltraMan is when the team can win too. I liked learning about Asuna's back story and that she wants to be cute and girly because she didn't grow up like that and grew up more like a tomboy and I like that because she should be able to choose how she wants to do things. X is hilarious too, I just love that the UltraMan talks here, he reminds me of Taro lol. Daichi and X are quite a pair I love them, X asks normal questions that could get him trouble and Daichi trying to stop him from saying stuff is fun. I like him hiding his secret identity so far. I love when the cards come and X is like give me a moment. The fight scenes are spectacular and the special effects are awesome this is a very visual show that's awesome. Also I enjoyed the Land Mode of the Musketty it was very Landmaster-like and that's really cool. I can't wait for more the next episode looks great, I hope focusing more on the other team members too.

Just watched Episode 4 of Ultraman X and it was fantastic. The Kaiju-battles were top-notch again, very impressive, and I liked that the XIO-group was the focus this time instead of just supporting X.
And it seems my prediction was correct: The next episode focuses on the most annoying character, the lab girl, and I hope it will make me like her more. |
UltraMan X Episode 4: This was a great use of the XiO group here. I was so happy to see that they could kick ass and defeat the monsters. Asuna, Wataru, and Hayato are all fun and awesome characters, I can't wait to see them evolve and grow just like Daichi. The supporting cast is very strong here and one of the best parts here. I love that the military force can defeat the aliens and the monsters besides the UltraMan always doing it; I liked that in Nexus as well. Also I enjoyed Daichi and X getting more of an understanding with each other as they were stuck in the monster's stomach. The action was freaking fantastic from everyone on the XiO team to Daichi/X kicking ass, hell the moon fight was spectacular. I am loving this series and I can't wait for UltraMan Zero next week and I just can't wait for more.

I didn't know where to post this, but Ultraman Ginga S has now been completely subbed
I had plans for what I was going to watch after I finished Leo. I have now changed those plans. I've been wanting more Ginga S (beyond the 4 episodes that were out before) for a while. |

THAT'S AMAZING. :D Thanks for sharing. |
UltraMan X Episode 5: Zero is so awesome! I was like Rui here with obsessing over Zero lol. I thought he was the coolest thing ever. I am kind of glad I waited to see him in this so when I go watch the movies I already know I like him and can't wait to see more of him. I loved that Dr. Gourman learned that Daichi was X, that he put one and one together was great; also that Daichi has someone else on the inside helping is good too. I feel this episode with the interdimensional travel will lead to figuring out a way that Daichi can use to find his parents. I love X's Zero armor on him as much as I love it on Zero it looks awesome. X and Zero both kicked ass this episode and the action is just amazing. I hope Zero appears again sometime in the show and maybe some of the other past UltraMen too. It is definitely a really fun series and I love how Rui was at the end when Zero and X saved her and she was all about Zero and wanted a picture with him. I also loved that Zero was able to hijack the device X is in to talk to both of them. I can't wait for more.
Also I was wondering we have a GARO discussion in this thread and a thread for the new series, Why doesn't UltraMan X have a discussion thread? UltraMan Ginga S being subbed made me really excited because I just finished Ginga so it's going to be my next series I watch. |
Watched UltramanX Episode 5 today, pretty good. I definetly like the lab girl a little bit more know. Zero's pretty cool too.
The only thing weird was that the initial Kaiju rumble with X against the Lizard was kinda weirdly paced. Usually they make the punches and kicks slower to give them weight because giants can't move as fast, but here they moved like Kamen Riders or Sentais, too fast. Sometimes it was better, and the end fight was completely normal again. Don't know what happened there. |
I'm only up through episode 4 of X because I'm watching it without subscription. I am really, really loving this show, though. It reminds me a lot of Max and all of the things I loved about that show.
|
I loved episode 5. The whole bit at the end with Rui and Zero was great.
Those are new monsters in the next episode preview, yes? |

In other news: that moment when you're watching the second episode of Ginga S and the female characters are fighting and you can immediately tell who the director is. |
X is a pretty good Ultraman show.
and after watching a few episodes of Max, they don't really feel the same. that said, neither are bad per say. |

Episode 5 of X brings the continuity jumping, universe hopping Ultraman Zero to the mix.
I don't think the episode added much to the X narrative, outside of some time on the spotlight for Rui, but it's Zero, fanservice or not I can't complain about him showing up. |
Just watched Episode 6, great episode. The Gold-Alien offers a nice story, and damn that Gargorgon-suit is amazing. Kinda glad that this will be a two-parter and we see more of it next week.
|
If you don't have Premium, here's a Guest Pass so you can watch episode 6 of X.
Man, Gargorgon looks SO cool. I'm excited about next week. |
UltraMan X Episode 6: This was fantastic. tE rU is very interesting; I enjoyed the whole refugee plot and how it brought in the government and question what they should do with him. Daichi is a smart and fun character I like how he protected tE rU and switched places as the hostage because he can protect them and knew he could help him out with whatever was coming. Dr. Gourman is hilarious I love him, and I love how they figured out everything with what happened with tE rU's motives because of his brain chemistry. I hope tE rU stays I can see him be like Ichijouji and Jean-Nine from Ginga and I am really intrigued in his character. Can Daichi and X stop looking so cool I have like over 100 screen caps of them from this series already lol. Man they hyped the fight with Gargorgon a lot at the end I can't wait for next week it's going to be badass. Also since I don't watch it on CrunchyRoll, I am just leaving CrunchyRoll with UltraMan X on in the background of my computer so it gets views on there too. I can't wait for more.

Stupid cliffhanger :lol
Really great episode and I loooooove the Rudian suit. Cant wait for next week. |
Just finished episode 5 and if I have to sit through another Olivia Wilde nail polish commercial I will hurl my tablet through a window (Have you bought nail polish yet, viewer? No? How about if I show you the same commercial again two more times in a row?).
That aside, I really liked it. I've seen the first two Zero movies, so it was cool to see him again. Obviously he's picked up some new tricks, since I don't remember him having Tiga's color-changing powers. Still, it was fun seeing him and X interacting (including X's hilarious photobomb near the end of the episode). I'm really liking the action sequences in X, too. The big two-on-two battle was well done and I like the effects on all of X's armor powers. This is rapidly turning into one of my favorite current shows. |

But nothing subbed as far as I know. |
Ginga S episode 4
After almost a year of Kamen Rider Drive, it really amused me to see Hikaru's partners immediately want to know what the hell is up with the giant plastic thing on his wrist. :lol |
Ginga S is a nice continuation of the series, although I feel like it might be better if I'd actually watched all the previous Ultras. Shepardon is damn cool. Episode 11 is kind of a strange change of pace. The Strium Brace looks very bulky and the form isn't that different but it's still cool.
Ultraman X is also enjoyable. It's kind of weird that they're keeping the spark dolls but I guess it's to sell toys and if that helps Ultra be more successful I'm not complaining. Zero turning up in episode 5 is very cool. Episode 6 has a pretty interesting plot with tE rU's story. A ship disguised as an art installation is pretty genius, although that's probably been used in something before. The standoff near the end is kind of awkward though. |
Ultraman X #6 was really good. The misunderstanding with the alien wasn't the most original plot, but I liked the fight with Rudian and the Gargoran is a fantastic monster design. Very frustrating cliffhanger, though.
|
Episode 7 was really good. Mostly battle scenes, but really good ones. Gargorgon is one of the best Kaiju-suits I've seen in a long time. The whole design gives me a slight King Ghidorah vibe, but it stands out with the cool Gorgon design. The eye within his mouth and the rattlesnake-tails that really rattle when he's about to fire his petrification-beam are very nicely done.
Great episode! Next week's episode is a clip show though... :( |
UltraMan X Episode 7: So much I loved about this episode. I think I'll start with that I love that the team is so competent that were able to save UltraMan rather than UltraMan X saving them all the time, that's always wonderful. Dr. Gourman, Rui, and the others are all so much fun and have great hearts; I love this team so much right now. tE rU was awesome as well with willing to sacrifice himself so that the team can save UltraMan X, I love the courage that he has as well as the courage Daichi had to protect Rudian too. I love all the heroic spirit going around in everyone here. I also enjoyed that the XiO team's plans worked better than the UNVER's head's plan so I hope that might be mentioned later on for praise or something. I loved the Bemstar armor for X, that might be my favorite power up for him so far. The purple energy around makes it look visually amazing and I love the shield a lot too. The action is so awesome here too, I love seeing all the wrestling moves and other attacks here. This series is so good right now I can't wait for more; I am even excited for next weeks clip show. I hope it's like GARO recent clip show that it actually helps progress the story as well as showing us what already happened or something like that. Anyways I'm so giddy right now after watching this show I love it so much. =)

Good episode and a good follow up to last week. I like Rudian, his Gatling Guns are illin'.
Next week is a clip show nooooooooo |
I'm so happy that Crunchyroll Germany has Ultraman X. My first contact with Ultraman was Tiga and it kinda made me hesitant about getting into Ultraman as a franchise, but X really made me change my mind.
So far, I enjoyed every single episode. The designs are cool, the plot is interesting and the characters are fun to watch. I was also really happy to see Masaya Kikawada again, because I loved him as Motoki back in PGSM. Hope he'll be back in a future episode. While it's a shame that next week will be a clip show, I'm still looking forward to it, like every week :) |
I really love what Ultraman X has been doing so far.
|
Clip Show this week, Next week on UltraMan X, we get UltraMan Max guest-starring!
