The Black Star Dragon Ball arc in GT felt like that it could been good since they where going across the galaxy and there was a lot of potential for cool ideas. However it end up being so boring to sit through. The scene where Trunks dresses up as a woman was a poor rehash of the original DB episode "The Kidnapping Demon, Oolong". When Goku dress up as a girl in the original DB anime & manga, at least it was funny in my opinion.

What I also didn't like about GT was that I find a lot of the characters forgettable. I remember Giru, General Rildo, Myu, Bebi, Super 17, Yi Xing Long (Syn/Omega Shenron) and the fire & ice shadow dragons. Everyone else I forgot about. I always felt like most of the minor characters in DB and DBZ had something at least memorable about them.

so I watched Resurrection of F last night in theater.

it's a fun movie. definitely go check it out.

Wheis is not one of my favorite characters, along with Hercule.

At-least GT gave me a reason to watch it from the start something Super hasn't done.

The only selling point Super has right now is that its "more Dragonball".

At this point I'd have been happy with Battle of the Gods & Resurrection F being the only new things we'd gotten. Especially if all we have to look forward to now is an anti-climactic watered down retelling of their plots in Super.

Well there's that dimension hopping plot.

But you'll have to apparently sit through two drawn out retellings to get to it.

So you liked Piccolo being turned into everyone's bitch? Or how everyone just suddenly got weak? How about the fact that you had adults hitting on an 8 year old girl?

What more did it need to have? That is all Battle of Gods had too.

While I'm not happy about the retcon, I don't see how that can ruin any enjoyment of Super. We are still getting character development and it's not like everything is identical to BoG. Hell, they are going to have to do something different for how someone can become a Super Saiyan God since Videl can not possibly be pregnant yet (unless Bulma's party lasted 5 years).

You mean the exact same thing that happened in Z?Yeah well remember how everyone perved over Bulma and how Oolong was introduced in the original series?

BOG had a new story something Super lacks.

Because we want new content and not just pointless drawn out rehashes?That's like saying DB Kai is worth watching if you've seen the original anime because it cuts out the filler.

I just came back from seeing Resurrection F or Revival of F depending how you want to go by. I personally really love the movie. Great action, decent humor and Freeza was great in the movie. Jaco really sold the show for me since his character was awesome and funny. Whis and Beerus where also great too. I do like how Krillin and Roshi put up a good fight in the movie since it's been so long that they did something relevant. The animation was pretty solid expect for the CG and some action scenes.

I still hate the rewind of time. Why not just have Goku kill Freeza after he blew up the Earth and use the Dragon Balls on Namek to wish back everyone ?

I always felt like DBZ give other characters a chance besides Goku. Piccolo, Gohan, Vegeta, Future Trunks, Krillin, Goten & Trunks had their fair share in the story before Goku shows up. In GT, I hated what they did to Uub. Uub was made to be the next projector of the Earth with Goku training him. In GT, he got his ass kick. Got his ass kick by Bebi before he fused with Buu. Put up a good fight after fusing with Buu then got turn into candy. Got his ass kick again with Super 17 and Omega Shenron. It's a shame that they really ruined his potential in GT. I would have had go into space with Goku instead of Pan or Trunsk.

In Z at least the other Saiyan could do something to harm or kill the villain of the arc, in GT if your name wasn't Goku or Vegeta, your job was to either stall or get your ass handed to you while you wait for Goku. Sometimes both.

Super doesn't have some like Uub yet, who had the promise of being something cool but then ended up being knocked to the side in favor of more Goku.

That's not to say that Super is going to necessarily be better, as if it's just going to adapt BOG and and RoF for now, then while the other Z fighters will at least be somewhat useful when Freeza comes around, Gohan is still being demoted back to just Super Saiyan. The upside is that unlike in GT, Tien and Krillin will be useful again sometime soon.

GT's writers decided not to have Trunks and Goten form Gotenks again, despite the many times that would been useful either against Super 17 or the Shadow Dragons, Pan didn't get a Super Saiyan form (causing a debate about whether or not girls could turn super) even though she's Goku's grandkid, so you'd think that call for something of a power boost, and Uub absorbs Buu and then proceeds to pull an Ultimate/Mystic Gohan, and not kill the guy he just powered up to beat.

Super might be going slow, and the stories it's presenting we've literally just seen, but it's just freaking episode 4 as of now. Hardly time to be calling it worse than GT.

If Super is going to retell ROF then I hope Gotenks, #18 and Kibitoshin joins the fight against Freeza. I also wish the movie had Mr. Satan try to fight Freeza. He has meet every main villain in DBZ (Vegeta, Cell and Buu) expect for Freeza. Not to mention the times when he try to fight Cell and Buu where funny. I hope Super will try to give Mr. Satan a bigger role again.

my only major gripe I have to say is that Resurrection of F mentions Buu, but he never shows up in the movie.

The manga adaption that was a tie in with the movie mentions that Buu was taking a nap during the events of the movie from what I can recall. Besides he would just eat them all in bite anyways.

but Buu has promised not to kill, so he'd probably just toss them all around a bit.

Bulma was 16, NOT 8.

And Piccolo might have gotten over powered at times in Z, but he over came in. IN GT he gets beaten by Baby with ease. Then he shows up to blow up with the Earth. Then he shows up and traps himself in Hell. WTF? That is an insult to Piccolo.

But Super's story is only old to you because it is retelling BoG. BoG was a 100 minute movie. Super is not going to be THAT long on it. And what they are doing is fleshing on the characters.

Except Kai IS worth watching and IS superior to the original in every way. Not to mention Funimation actually took the dub seriously. The only issue with Kai is the cropping and green tint added to the Boo saga. Oh, and that they didn't cut enough of the Boo saga out.

Uub does not show up until years later. The final chapter of DBZ happens 10 years after Uub. Uub is a 5 years old when Freeza was brought back to life in the movie. However Super changes the events of the movies where they are set. So Uub is still a baby by the time when Super starts.

oh okay. I haven't seen Battle of the Gods yet so I don't know about the timeline changes.

Except it wasnt. BOG was a new story that build upon the mythology of the shows universe and left it open to tell more stories with these characters. Something Super isnt doing since its just telling us the exact same things BOG has already told us.

Doesnt change the fact that its still old and incredibly lazy. How are they exactly flashing out the characters? Up until now we have seen nothing that enhances the story of BOG.

And we have gotten to see Beerus be the god of destruction. We have gotten to see more development for Gohan and Videl. Mr Satan for the first time ever actually had a moment of not being a douche. We had Vegeta as a family man.

If I wanna rewatch BOG I rewatch BOG. What Super does is not "letting you rewatch" the movie its stretching the movie out and having you to sit through a story over the course of multiple weeks that most of the audience has already experienced. In most cases even more than once.

Take this week's episode for example. What exactly did 15 minutes with Emperor Pilaf achieve that Battle of the Gods didn't do in 2? Hell at least in Battle of the Gods they were actively seeking out their target, here they just found the balls out of dumb luck.

"Expanding" things would be showing how the Pilaf Gang became kids again, but I fully expect Super to gloss over that just like the movie did. If I'm proved wrong then fantastic, but I can't say my expectations are particularly high.

Expanding or enhancing isnt just adding stuff to the movie but rather making whats already in there make more sense. Nothing in the show so far helps understand anything that wasnt already fully explained in the movie proper.

I guess I'm one of the very few people who was happy that Freeza came back to life? He is the most iconic villain in the franchise and he is Goku's #1 enemy. I view Freeza as the Joker or King Ghidorah of the DB series. When they brought him back in Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans, the filler episode with Pikkon & Goku, Fusion Reborn and GT that he was treated as a joke. In ROF, at least he put up a fight against Goku and was not killed in one puch.

As long as his resurrection is well handled I dont mind at all.

I loved him coming back, he is iconic, and many characters have used him as a benchmark of power in the franchise for years. But I really don't see a distinction between his other returns being jokes compared to this one. Frankly the entire premise of his afterlife here was a joke, and he was made out to be a joke in this fight too. Someone so over zealous that he couldn't even compensate for his own final forms fatal flaw. That's the ultimate joke, the strongest warrior being unable to use his power properly yet again. At least in GT he & Cell had a pretty thorough plan that just didn't pan out because Goku had become so much more powerful in the interim.

ok so i was on facebookk and saw comment saying last three episode of z are non cannon due to it was clip of videl coming how where piccolo was babysitting pan. this guy said he did his research and fall on bent to say last three episode was z are non cannon due to pan and uub are in them and called them GT i was like no they are cannon and poped out my manga and took pics od the characters in them with front cover of said volum to show him and i had not gotten a reply since then.

Ok out battle of gods and resurrection f I enjoyed battle of gods more then F. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed F but I was not the kind of person who hated battle of gods. F was for Fans that hated gods due to there was less action and was made for fans that want just heavy action fight scenes that's what F brung us for me it was not dragon ball. Battle of God had right balance.

I'm shocked 8 episodes will be it for that rehash. There's gotta be more to it than that. But we'll see.

I assume that nearly immediately after they'll "expand" on Goku & Vegeta travelling to Beerus' planet to train with Whis for a month or 2 worth of episodes then show us how SSGSS was attained. Then another 2 months or so of ROF rehash and showing us how Frieza turned Golden. Then maybe finally we can get to some original content. About a good 6 months into the shows run is more than likely when anything of any real new significance will occur.

I can't wait to see Vegeta singing the bingo song again. :lol

Tonight's episode was okay. The fight scene of Goku vs. Beerus was fun, but the animation did suck. I'm getting rather bored with Super, but I'm not giving up on the show just yet.

That's good BOG ends soon. Honestly Super is pretty fun right now and I think people forget that DBZ had boring moments too.

I think the problem people have is there is no manga to be used as an excuse anymore for the boring parts. I personally would rather have characters and adventuring more than action.

Toei is just cheap in general. Their live action stuff is known to look pretty cheap looking too.

Toei has always been cheap though. That company relies on stock footage as if there were no tomorrow. Hell, I still wonder how many minutes in total would be removed from Sailor Moon's entire run if you were to cut out all of the transformation scenes.

Anyway, don't you guys remember how bad the animation for the Freeza saga in DBZ was? There is a scene in there were Captain Ginyu's arm is longer and thinner than his proportions.
