Then again new Gali is so utterly perfect maybe I just don't want to change her. Quote:
I made Onua a giant akin to his portrayal in the new flash shorts. |

Hmm, I disagree, I feel Pohatu is one of my favourite ones. He has a very nice sleek and self-contained look, and his details are just enough to give him personality.
The one I feel wasn't executed that well is Lewa. He's still a good figure, but his details are plain in comparison to the others (if there's one Toa who's bland, in my opinion, it's Lewa, not Pohatu). Plus the head articulation thing is really unfortunate. |
Pohatu's nice, but he lacks any real "boom" aspect like how the others have cool armour or weapons, he's very rudimentary.

Hahli was cool. She went from bit Matoran character to a freaking Toa x2. (almost x3!)

Gali is the most powerful Toa for sure. Plus, she's also the only one to ever use her Nova blast. She's a champion and deserves to be deputy of the Toa more than Kopaka. (then again any of them are just as equal as secondary leaders behind Tahu) |

Also, am I the only one who always saw Pohatu and Onua as "Those Two Guys" due to the fact that they tended to get less screentime combined than any of the other four did individually? |

I do wonder if they'll do a version of the Toa Metru for G2. Though I wouldn't mind entirely new characters, either!

I guess these can go here. First looks at what, in my opinion, look to be fantastic new constraction figures from Star Wars:

Now that I think about it... I remember when I was a kid and went to some store and bought myself a Bionicle kit or two with my allowance. I believe I had a dark red one and a blue one, maybe Gali. But I also remembered a Bionicle commercial that featured, one of my favorite, if not my favorite, songs "Move Along" by All American Rejects.

And Move Along is a really enjoyable song. |

Well I got Tahu today and he is just such a cool set. I'm happy bionicle came back.
Now, some things I'd like to say about this new line. Does anyone else feel like Lego is playing it a bit too safe for this line. I mean the protectors don't have names and LOSS was defeated so, quickly. Now I know that there are like two books coming later in the year. But does anyone feel that there are missed opportunities in this new story? Now I my self am okay with it, but feel like there could be something more to it. |
Yea I had a hands on with Tahu for the first time from a school friend, and man those sets are HUGE compared back to the Glatorian days man.

This new stuff, great as it is, just feels so... underwhelming. |

Apparently outside the fans, the general audience relates better to a more simplified mythology, rather than the complex one that Bionicle G1 became, hence the toning down with the unique names. But who knows, if Bionicle G2 is successful, LEGO might dare to be a little bit more ambitious. One thing's for sure, they didn't skimp on the toyline and for that, I'm happy. |

Bionicle 2015 really needs a game like that. |

So has anyone else seen the new 2016 winter wave sets? I'm personally in a mixed bag with them, but I'm sure once they are released I'll really enjoy them.

I won't be going crazy and buying the whole collection at once like I did with 2015, but I will definitely be looking to pick them up over the year. Personally, I love the idea of the Creatures better than the Protectors, and the combining feature is superior to 2015's. Love them! |
Don't really like them, don't need them, the 2015 ones are enough. Probably the only exception is Tahu. Tahu looks good.
|
I think the combos really improve the look of a lot of them, to the point that I think some of them are designed with the combos in mind. I absolutely love Gali's combo, in particular, but most of them are great.
|
I dunno, I feel like the same issue with the gold masks is being repeated here. the smaller three Toa don't have any gold, so the combos just look...eh. Gali looks decent when not combined though. Kopaka in particular looks pretty poor without being combined and even then he doesn't excite me. Tahu and Onua are better, but there's plenty of stuff I don't really like about Onua to make up for that.
|
I think I kind of warmed up to the idea of gold masks on the smaller Toa through the web animations. :) Initially having only the masks be gold was weird, but since the gold masks are almost all Gali, Lewa and Pohatu wear in the web animations, I got used to it.
Funny thing you mentioned Kopaka, he's actually one of my favourites. :D I like his build and I feel his weapons are fantastic. Tahu on the other hand, while I do like a lot, is one of my least favourites so far, mostly due to the different textures. It seems we have very opposite opinions. :lol |
I think I just like the 2015 version of Kopaka too much. I don't like the 2016 one's mask and his colors aren't that well coordinated. His weapons are pretty slick though.
The only reason I like Tahu as much is probably just because he has blue. Really makes the color scheme pop. I do also like his mask, but mainly, tiny bits of blue. It's definitely a problem that he has too many kinds of armor and textures going on, and his weapon is one of the more boring ones. |
Meh. I just love me some animal sets.
