Eeeh. I think it's just coincidence. The only real similarity is the strip going around the helmet, which is just an extension of Zi-O's watch strap theme.

I'd say this is a coincidence too, as Zi-O was pretty consistent about not pulling too much from the Showa era, but I could see a designer consciously making that connection after coming up with the initial idea to have the watch band on the face and then leaning into it.

Either way, V3's weird maggot face is one of my favorite Rider helmet designs (I love ZO and J's suits), so I think you DID just crack the mystery of why I legitimately love Zi-O Trinity so much! :lol

Both Trinity and V3 have names involving the number three, too. If it's just a coincidence, it's a pretty amusing one.

Anyway, y'know how Saikou's original Rider form shown in Kin No Buki, Gin No Buki has those big upward spikes on its shoulders? (It's harder to see on the silver side, but there is one on each side.) Even though Saikou isn't directly based on a sai, I think those shoulder spikes combined with the blade might be meant to reference one.

I've been wondering for a while what those garbled words in Drive's standby loop are. After listening to it for a while, I'm somewhat confident it's "transform... I am... Drive" or "transform... tire... Drive," but I'm still not sure. Does anyone else have any guesses?

Yeah nobody actually knows what Drive standby is saying but here's what a couple of people say they've heard

I learned recently that Eiji's left hand is a different gesture depending on what the center medal is while he has the scanner close to his chest during his tranformation. So for example, during his transformation to Tatoba or Ratoratah his hand is posed to resemble a tiger's claws, and for Sagozo he would make a fist to symbolize a gorilla, etc.

These are the little details I liked in OOO. Eiji normally changes his stance depending on what his arm and leg medals are. When in Tako legs, the latters' are crossed, when using Condor, they're closer together. In the arms, he makes the tiger pose when he's in Tora arms, and then sticks his fingers together when using the Kujaku medal.

And to imagine Takaiwa had to probably systematically memorize all this, can't help but say that the man's GOAT material of toku suit acting. :rock:

While listening to Over Again, I realized that, at the time, W, OOO, and Zero-one's music are all callbacks to the original Kamen Rider's use of trumpets.

Kamen Rider V3 started with a jaguar-type kaijin in the form of Hasami Jaguar. Agito also started with a jaguar-type in the form of the Jaguar Lords. I am gonna say it is probably an intended tribute to V3 as much as G3 is a tribute to Riderman. Both are the second season of their respective eras so I guess it makes sense they do something like that.

Oh cool, in the same way that Kuuga (and many others after) had a spider as their first monster to homage Ichigo's first monster!

And, if you wanna stretch this a bit, Gills heavy ties to water also can be tied X with his underwater motive. Would all make sense since Inoue's dad worked on Showa Rider as far as I remember and that Inoue likes referencing it.

I like to think Gills got his name based on Inoue's' love of having scenes where people are floating on or otherwise in water. Seriously, there are a ton of those throughout Agito and Faiz.

Now that you mention it, Keisuke also loses a lot of people he cares about, including both his dad and girlfriend (one of my favorite silly bits of X is when Keisuke’s dad leaves behind a submarine base and computer based on his personality, which immediately destroys itself the second Keisuke shows any sign of emotional attachment).
