Brave's weapon is the only one that I can take half seriously. Snipe's gun is especially ridiculous. Why they thought it was a good idea to mold in the blast effect as a permanent detail I will never understand. Ex-Aid's weapon is almost passable, but I similarly hate how the pink "swoosh" effect is part of the tangible design.

I get that they're supposed to resemble video game style attack graphics, but it just doesn't work for me on a physical level.

This show is, aesthetically, over the top ridiculous. I'm hoping it gets conversely serious business, which will amp the weirdness through the roof.

I think it's just trying to replicate games with a chibi style, especially Mario or similar games I don't know about, with the "Level up to main form" gimmick.

Agreed. My favorite tokusatsu shows marry OTT aesthetics with suuuuper serious subject matter. Weird toku is best toku.

A summery and details of episode 1 are on Toei’s blog, but I’m decidedly going to go more light on these now that we’re entering show territory, especially the episode summaries.
The gist of the behind-the-scenes stuff is that people have been referring to Ex-Aid as a Yuru Chara (or a strange/crude yet cutesy character, like a mascot), but they assure that fights will not suffer for it. As well, emphasis on the fact that the medical scene will be a place of drama, while the battles will be referred to as games.

I love the glowing eyes. It's nice that Lazer's is also. I needed to make this my new sig. Does the size fit in the guidelines?

Sounds about as fake as can be to me. Like someone noticed people are now gathering that there's three more Riders, so they just wrote up three new whatevers. Not to mention that making a "Parad Puzzle" Gashat just because the one line we've heard from Parad mentioned puzzle games...it's absurdly on-the-nose. Classic case of a "leaker" making up shit that just happens to fit what people are already expecting.

I kinda thought the rumor came off as very strange in the same way the name "Ex-Aid" on a video game Rider with hair and pupils does.

I'm amazed the scans haven't gotten here yet. Ex-Aid riding on top of Lazer must be really, really awkward now that I've seen the scans.

...less nice, however...eh. Sports Gamer doesn't look amazing. Guess the catalog was using outdated concept art. Kinda liked the weird glasses more than this odd half-helmet. It's just...pretty awkward looking overall.

I think the only reason Sports Gamer looks weird is because it has Ex-Aid's Color Scheme but is being used on Genmu.

I'm hoping that Ex-Aid uses it at one point so we can see how the similar color schemes work together.

If Ex-Aid got a female rider, I think she might get killed off because I don't trust Toei due of their horrible track-record of female riders.

What is up with Toei killing off all Female Riders?! I assumed President of Toei must be sexist because Toei DON'T Respect Female Rider! Which is very odd to me that they don't killed off Sentai Girls and yet keep killing Female rider! What is up with that?!

The only Sentai girl that they ever killed off was Yellow4 from Bioman when she was poisoned by Anti-Bio Particle in 10th episode! Apparently there's no reason of why she was killed off. There was a theory that she was either got fired or left the show because the money issues with Japan Action Club but according to Red Ranger's actor. Her death was already planned since the start of the series to show that arrogance could lead defeat

I must say, never thought a regular-looking BMX Bike could look so interesting as armor and propellers.

The colors don't bother me too much, it's not like we didn't know what the bike looked like. I was expecting this.

It's just that damn half helmet. It's almost as non functional as it is just sort of dumb looking. Maybe it just bugs me that they didn't commit to it? Like, just give GENM the whole helmet. Wouldn't look any less ridiculous. It just don't look good.

Who knows though, you may be right. GENM's colors being so dark makes the armor stand out even more than it would otherwise. I guess we'll have to wait and see. One good thing about it is that the armor this time around does look like it should be usable by different Riders. Least GENM and Ex-Aid anyway.

Anyway with GENM as the current subject of discussion I guess it's as good a time as any to say that the fact that he has the same chest design as Ex-Aid bugs the hell out of me, and will continue to do so until he pulls out a Gashacon Breaker of his own. I mean, honestly? Was making little saw and gun icons that hard? And it can't just be that he's a straight recolor of Ex-Aid, since the eyes are different.

Just a whole thing.

Anyway, been thinking a bit more about Lazer. The fact that his Level 1 just has the wheels strapped to his arms is pretty cool, and inadvertently answers a few questions I had. Like, I was seriously wondering if his Chanbara Bike Gamer form just had wheels sticking out of his back and ass. Knowing they're not actually part of him makes things a lot simpler. Coupled with the fact that he does in fact have his Level 1 face on his back (which was unclear), it starts giving me some idea of how the hell that works with the LVUR figures.

More confused than before about Level 3 though. I thought I had figured out how the chest armor worked, but the face complicates things. Even if the front of the bike splits up and folding it out forms the game pad armor (assuming the left side is on the bike's right side, which for some reason we haven't seen), that's not gonna cover the face or anything. And then there's how the face becomes...the face. Though it's probably a lot less complicated than what I'm thinking of. I wouldn't be surprised if all it was was taking the level 1 face off and plugging it into the back. Would make sense since I imagine splitting up the front would leave the back pretty bare...

That the Gamer Driver is strapped to the seat as though it's his waist is giggly fun, although it must be annoying to work around for the suit actors. (I didn't see it in one of the action shots, so may be they cheat by sometimes removing it.)

I expect the relatively painful similarity between Ex-Aid and Genmu, as well as handing Genmu the upgrades in Ex-Aid's colors, indicates that mistaken identity will be a plot point early in the series. (If so, it'd make more sense for Genmu to look identical to Ex-Aid, even though it'd sell fewer toys and be confusing for some of the audience.)

I should probably stop looking at these, though. I keep promising myself that I'll stop reading scans and such so I can actually be surprised by the shows, and I keep not following through. Must... develop... self... control...

See you say that about the helmet and I've been looking at old toy catalog stuff, and that's not the original idea they had, it was just goggles but they went full helmet for some reason. lol

Yeah, I am aware. I honestly preferred the look of those weird goggle things more. I kinda get why they went in this direction instead, it fits the Sports thing better, but it ugly nevertheless.

So for Genm's LV3, they replaced that better-looking googles with.......Go-Buster King's helmet? :confused:


And to the surprise of absolutely no one, Kiriya Kujo is Lazer. Speaking of Lazer, weird transformation. LV1 going LV2 actually has him turning his body 180°.
Fits his eccentric nature, I guess.


And hey, Buttobasoul Medals, or at least their variant, does show up in the series after all.

I think Buttobasoul Medals is euqual with Tire Change Shift Cars, all right hand Wizard Rings and non-changing state Fourze's Modules.....

Anyway, I noticed something weird. I was listening to the sounds of all the Gashats available, and something about Taddle Quest really stands out. Its Level 3 sound just says "Taddle Quest!," which I already knew and was disappointed by. But it wasn't until now that I noticed every other Gashat (all 5 of the other ones so far anyway) start their Level 3 jingle with "I gotcha!" or...something that sounds like "I gotcha." All of them. Except Taddle Quest. Which is, again, just "Taddle Quest."

Weird! Does it mean anything? Did they just forget Level 3 existed when they were doing Taddle Quest? The world may never know.

Man it's bugging me though.

Speaking of disappointments, I'm kinda sad that Gekitotsu Robots's Level 2 and 3 sounds are so different. All the other Gashats are kind of in the same style for both, but Gekitotsu's are veeery different. And that's a bit of a shame because I fucking love the Level 2 one. Yet all we're probably ever gonna hear in show is the Level 3. Sigh. Well, level 3 is pretty decent too, just...I like the robot voice.

Well, I was planning on only getting a few Gashats but I can already see myself getting Robots. Siiiiigh.

I think it might be a Gashat design quirk, though I can't imagine how it works - in a clip I've seen showing the rest of the main Gashats + Gekitotsu, the person accidentally played BangBang Shooting's LV3 sound twice, and the first time it didn't say "I gotcha"(/"a gacha"? I've seen it written that way in videos of Shakariki Sports). So I'm guessing there's a weird special trigger for it, or it's a glitch in the design of a few/most/all Gashats.
