Oh yeah, can anyone explain that one part in the end with the two guys in yellow being scolded by another guy? Something about their "pride"? And then two guys tell Bako something about their daughters.
Did they rejoin the Allied Forces to work on the robots, but the other guy wanted to completely leave because "pride"? |
The Alien Barossa appearance was so badly phoned in… it seemed very random, but the rest of the episode was awesome. Not only a whole lot of action for all the Ultra Fusion forms, but also a glorious return from Sevenger. Seeing it wielding Beliarok while surfing King Joe's carrier mode was hilarious :lol
The setup for the future seems interesting. Quote:
At least that's what I'm getting out of this. |

What a great episode! I really love this show. It's just satisfying and fun. Casual Yoko operating Sevenger like a pro. It makes me think she always had it in her to win fights, but the bureaucracy of upper management has always held her back.
Also as a fan of boba, ossssssssssssssssssss! |
Honestly, while I was watching this episode, I couldn’t hear Barossa’s dialogue without thinking of Valky from Ultraman Ginga (turns out, they’re the same VA) and half expected him to break out the broken English.

Earlier in this thread someone mentioned Ultra Action Figure Z Original is coming, but I can’t find anything on that — is it a toy catalogue leak or something?

Fun! Which medals is this again?

It's Jack, Cosmos and Nexus.

Is it just me or does Geed's Galaxy Rising form borrow heavily from Cyber Gomora color scheme-wise? I mean X is involved as we know it but surprised that there seems to be more emphasis on the cyber kaiju references supposedly. I guess the closest we get with the Ginga and Victory references are that yellow V crest on his chest which must be a reference to Victory and the light blue areas are supposed to be referring to Ginga?

This week on Ultraman Z, the government pours tons of money into an intimidating eyeless robot replica of Ultraman, which is sure to end well, Juggler drinks Ramune, and Wajima sure became a real jerk after Haruto and Koyomi moved out of his house! |
Next week, all of our plans seem to be popping off at once, it's getting really exciting now seeing this endgame fully come into fruition. Really can't wait!

Takkong saw Deathcium Fang, said "I don't care", stood there and then just walked away like nothing happened.
I love Takkong. |
Love me some giant robots, so an Ultraman-esque robot is twice the excitement. I also love how they made Ultroid feel and sound. Deliberately giving you a message that this ain't it, despite it being a ultraman robot. The lifeless mechanical sounds it makes and that slow-mo walk makes sure it's not a friendly. It'll just be a bit disappointing to see it won't really last.
For Juggler, it kinda looks like he's going to pull a reverse uragitta moment at the last part where he was unhelmeted. Betraying Haruki and then vice versa. Sacrifice maybe? Nah. Excited to see Destrudos tho! |
Throughout the entirety of Ultroid Zero's showing I got HUGE Solid Burning vibes, especially when it done that 'flexing' pose. Not sure if it was intentional? Certainly don't mind; I love Solid Burning!
|
Man, this show does a great job at making me want the toys. I already have the riser, but that beliarok keeps tempting me far more than a standard weapon would. Hopefully manda doesn't charge crazy amounts in shipping to get one.

Just found out appearntly Ultraman Melos and Ultrawomen Aura are now canon again thanks to the new Z voice drama. And I think that just neat.
|
Quote:
Do you mean Andro Melos, the armored green guy? If so, then it's intentionally warming everyone up for his appearance in The Absolute Conspiracy! Supposedly, the Andro Melos series is NOT part of the deal with Mill Creek because Tsuburaya couldn't find the Masters (I assume this refers to the original film masters/production masters). Which episode of the voice drama is Melos mentioned in? Haven't been paying attention to it, but an Andro Melos reference might make it interesting. |

Nah that a different Melos.
This is Ultraman Melos https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EmRaCnyX...pg&name=medium And Ultrawomen Aura is Melos adopted daugther similar to how Ace was adopted by Father of Ultra. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EihsjybX...g&name=900x900 It was mentioned in the most recent voice drama https://youtube.com/watch?v=B1pPbD5a...SUBURAYA PROD. |
The fact that Melos is like mentioned...
The day he gets a live action suit is the day that so many Ultra Fans will combust. |

Didn't realize this guy existed. A unique thing about the Ultra Series is that there will always be something you aren't immediately aware of! You never stop learning. Was this Melos only in print form? |

Still feel like it should be Ultroid Z instead of Zero. Zero still fits, but why not go all the way with the evil-counterpart gimmick! Anyway, despite being an instrument of destruction and hubris... It's really cool!? I am part of the problem because I want to see him blow up more stuff...
At this stage, I suddenly started thinking that I kinda feel bad for Kaburagi, or rather his actor! At the beginning, he was the 'face' of Celebro, even got his own mechandise and transformation scenes. But then he almost never showed up, barely interacted with the cast, and now he's been completely phased out in favour of Wajima- I mean the Director. I guess it's fortunate that at least the Director could benefit from this, since he also rarely ever showed up in the show, so this new spotlight as the villain will make sure he leaves a lot more of an impression. I wouldn't be surprised if Celebro taking over him for the endgame was always the plan, but both he and Kaburagi were definitely severely underutilised before we got to this point. |
Another great episode. Man, is Ultra always like this? Yoko's piloting of Ultroid Zero was a standout. Love the way it moves! The fight at the bay was also really well done; very impressive miniature work this week.
Can't wait to finally get some answers re:Juggler and Celebro next week. If they can stick the landing, this might end up as one of my all-time favorite toku shows. |

Don't know what you've seen or not, but there isn't a single answer here! Take it this way: Ginga has been largely viewed as substandard at best, but its sequel Ginga S is leaps and jumps better! As for Z, some comments seem to suggest that it's underdeveloped and leans more on action rather than plot. I'll admit that some elements have felt underwhelming at times, but the characters are fun and likable. The action is always top-notch! I have to give it to Tsuburaya as their miniature city sets and landscape sets are far more detailed than what Toei does for Sentai. Will Z end on a high note? I'm thinking that it will. Most of the New Generation Ultras before Z have tried to end on strong notes. Curious where we are on a movie, as many series have a movie special which serves as an addendum; a bookend to truly bring things to a close of sorts. Will Z show on the big-screen? Are things even conducive for that right now? If a movie special is unlikely, will Z get something else to truly wrap it all up? |

Huh?! Who's saying this?! |
Z's been honestly a good refresher for me in terms of watching Toku. It has this comfy feeling of the saturday action shows that I watched as a kid and It'll be a bit sad to see it end quicker than I'm used to. Hope to see Haruki in future appearances tho!
I should probably go back and watch the older shows tho. The shorter episode count sounds good for some binging. Tho, I'm afraid I'd get sucked in and start thinking about buying SHFs all over again. :lol Anyone know the show Grigio is from tho? If she's not movie-exclusive. Need to see me some cute female Ultras. |

It's good that Celebro is still important in the end, but I can't help help but feel it's a bit of a shame Kaburagi's actor didn't get to do more. I thought he handled what little material he was given quite well; Wajima's dictator generalissimo shtick right now doesn't even compare. Quote:
S just had a bigger budget and brought a more familiar, more exciting Ultraman flavor back with a more-or-less proper defense team and everything. I think Ginga was viewed as a bit of an odd duck by existing Ultra fans, and the low-key vibe of it didn't exactly impress newcomers who were fans of Rider or Sentai or whatever at the time and expected to see a revival of Ultraman on TV that would convince them this franchise was some great thing worth their time. S was way more of attention grabber for both parties. I don't know how widespread those sentiments are, or if that's been toned down over time (which usually happens), but I definitely remember hearing things along these lines years ago. |

I watched both Ginga and Ginga S not long after they aired on Crunchy so I saw them only a couple years ago, and my main issues with the former were two-fold.
First, the low budget was a serious detriment. The fight scenes were pretty poor throughout the entire show, and the show's small cast and reliance on shooting at one location for 90% of the series made it all feel rather inconsequential. Speaking of the cast, that brings up my second point. The cast, for the most part, was terrible. It honestly has some of the worst acting I've seen in any show from the big three toku franchises. I don't think it's a coincidence that, aside from Hikaru, the only cast member brought back in a large role for S was Tomoya. I also didn't think the show was funny when it tried to be, and it really felt like a Fourze knock-off but without that show's charm. That all being said, Ginga S wasn't a major improvement. Sure, it looked better but I never bought into Victory personally and the story is pretty forgettable. |
The show may be almost over, but the toyline continues until at least February.
