Your "really unorthodox" design pretty much is the Turn A. Designed by Syd Mead for Turn A Gundam, and looks very different. Lots of curves, very streamlined, and very different weapons.

But I wouldn't necessarily recommend watching Turn A just to see the mech itself. All the designs in that show are weird though so...

Are you doing this just to spite watch a Gundam show? Look for a design people dislike and cling onto the show for dear life? Because I know you were on SEED Destiny because we all dislike it, so I hope you don't go into a show just to spite others. There's other great Gundam shows out there that you could actually enjoy for your own interest in those shows.
I was thinking about Seed Destiny to see if my unfamiliarity with the franchise does anything to my experience of such a hated series.

And I'm just curious about unorthodox designs because most Gundam designs look too similar in my opinion (then again, I'm used to more varied looking giant robots, so Gundams uniformity might just be something to get used to).

Remember when the director of SEED's wife (who was not part of the writing team or Sunrise) constantly added in changes and her husband would put them in? And remember that time when Shinn's voice actor said something about it, and his character was made the final villain because of it? Good times. Good times.

Yeah, you just kind of get used to it. Plus, the uniformity only really hits you if you look at all the shows together, rather then when you're watching one. At most there are 5ish gundams in a show, but I feel like their designs are distinct enough from each other.

I mean, yeah he killed people but I can't recall if he ever did it face to face like Mika did.

Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Episode 3: That was a fantastic episode. I am really enjoying how they are dealing with some real issues like financially staying afloat. I loved the duel between Mika and Crank that was a fantastic fight and great overall learning more about Mika's character that he's full of contradictions and how it makes him strong. Orga was great too I enjoyed his plan of taking over the CGS and running the group better than the last schmucks; also happy that they killed that one douche who lead the past group. Bernstein's character development has been great with her wanting to help them fight against the Gjallarhorn group and more. Definitely brings a grittiness to the anime I am watching right now. I like the tone and feel it gives to me as I watch it and I can't wait for more.

Considering he kept saying to certain people he'd kill them, and then fail to, so far yeah. Mika doesn't have that promise flaw.

He made promises, but I don't remember if he actually did it. At least Setsuna and Alleujah killed people when they were kids.

But yeah, Mika is pretty hardcore.

Yeah, the HGUC Revive RX-78-2 is great. So are the HGCE Aile Strike, HGBF Try Burning, and from the look of it, the HG Barbatos. But most HG kits are pretty straightfoward, so you really can just pick a design you like and you shouldn't have too much trouble building it, and as long as the kit isn't more than 7-8 years old, you'l have a pretty great end result. I'd a avoid the Real Grade and Master Grade lines until you've got a few High Grades under you're belt, though. Also, I actually made a introductory video targeted at newcomers if you're interested.

He did not. Heero would definitely threaten people, but only like that kid who tries to act tough but really isn't in school. His threats were simply hollow when it came to directly killing somebody.

Mika is already three episodes in not only probably one of the more brutal pilots, but since we're comparing him to the other main young kid pilot in Heero, he's more developed than Heero was in 50 episodes and a movie.

And? The discussion was on Mika blatantly telling Crank he would kill him and then doing it compared to Heero threatening people directly and never following it up. Him destroying the plane is equivalent to him just taking out enemy MSs; empty violence like most violence in a war.

You know what someone NEEDS to do? Remix "Raise Your Flag" and "Rise Up Your Flag" together. It must be done. Obviously once the lyrics start in both songs it becomes chaos, but FOR SCIENCE I just played the intro instrumentals of them together and it didn't sound terrible for the first 20 seconds or so. Lol.

try to also look for one that isn't too heavy on the stickers.

a sticker heavy kit for your first time might not come out that great if you aren't careful.

a first time kit I would recommend is the R35 Gouf.

Yep. HGs are cheap, simple, easy to build and offer a wide range of suits from different series. They've only been getting more detailed and better as time has gone one. Heck, the new IBO kits have a pseudo-inner frame underneath, which is usually reserved for higher quality models.

So there's a Gundam Extreme vs Maxxi Boost related announcement coming next week. Speculation says it's a PS4 version + localization of the game. Since it's around Paris Games week, where Japanese games that get released internationally get shown, that's where the localization story comes from.

Did anyone see that Anime News Network article of Gundam shows recommended to newcomers? I'm not a fan of it since it doesn't have 00 but eh. And then the Gundam fanbase flipped out about it and then the writer of the article tried to belittle the Gundam fanbase saying that Gundam isn't popular enough to be clickbait or something....

Honestly, the whole thing was a fucking mess. Something I saw the guy tweet was about how the Gundam fanbase is so divided and it's hard to please anyone. You guys agree?

I thought it was a decent enough piece. At the end of the day it was entirely opinion based so it wasn't going to please everyone. Was nice just to see an article like that being written in the first place, especially one that wasn't just riding off Wing nostalgia.

they said "zero zero" instead of "double O" several times.

they said "Turn All" instead of "Turn A"

and they called it a top mobile suits thread and said it would only be Gundams.
then added in the Turn X.
