I'm getting technical I know, but the Turn X is the machine reverse engineered to create the Turn A Gundam. And if the reverse engineered machine is classified as a Gundam, I see no reason why the original can't be considered one. I've always referred to the X as a Gundam personally.

But I also agree that that article was mostly bullshit. It came off as a very uninformed, really casual discussion of the entire franchise.

The GM is the Mass production scaled back version of the Gundam in every way. It's just technologically inferior. RX-79 (G)'s, yes those are classified as Gundams. GM's aren't. The Turn A & X aren't mass production suits though. They're unique. Seeing as the two have always been officially labeled as brother units, why is it so out there to consider the X a Gundam?

Bit of a slower episode of IBO compared to previous weeks.

But it's good to see that Mika does at least have a softer side.

I liked Episode 4 of IBO, not as much as the others, but it's still good.There wasn't a single fight this episode, which is cool, you don't need a fight every episode. Next episode looks to be set in space, so the story is moving along a bit faster then what I was expecting. But the mention of having go through these Civilian backways to get to Earth is making me think we're gonna end up on some weird Axis like asteroid community at some point on the trip.

I think McGillis might become one of my favorite characters in IBO once we get on further. So far he's called out Coral, shown respect, and got a decent amount of info on Tekkadan. I'm not too keen on his subordinate yet, but next episode looks like it's gonna ramp it up.

Also, the Tekkadan boys talked about how they are going to use the Graze at some point. Maybe that shot of the guy in the intro who died in the last episode is just hiding someone else piloting the Graze. Also, shouldn't they have 2 Grazes?

Oh god yes. That show is so broken in terms of story telling. It's just the weakest plot ever. Dry characters & non-existent plot coupled with more than a few unnecessary and weirdly unorthodox MS designs make Victory one of my least favorite series. Right down at the bottom with Reconguista & 0080.

Dedication on the writer's part, not the viewers. That's the whole point of "giving a recommendation". How do you know the person writing it hasn't gone through and watched everything?

Besides, the writer had to cover everything in what was most likely a pretty restricted word count. That can be really hard, especially when there's a lot to say about things. So to say something isn't worth watching because it's "disconnected" isn't necessarily wrong, it's an opinion - which is what the whole article is. Besides, arguing it on something that you agree isn't worth watching anyway seems kinda redundant.

You could ask everyone in this thread to write the same piece and they'd come up with different things. There's no right and wrong answers here and for the fandom to be apparently so up in arms is just sad. They should just be happy people are actually writing about it again.

Be a little lenient on Victory. At least dont be too upset at Tomino about it. He was going through depression during that time.

It's partially Bandai's fault also for fucking with the show when they bought Sunrise. And there's rumors that Tomino tried to make Victory unappealing in order to tank so Gundam could get left alone by Bandai.

Like, in the long run, I don't think Bandai has been bad with the franchise for the most part.

But depression can still be a serious thing. Thankfully he overcame it from what I can tell.

Yeah, in the long run they've done fine. It's just they severely mishandled it very early on.

His depression goes as far back as Zeta Gundam, it could be a factor but I don't think we can use it as an excuse.

The main factor was, as Power said, probably that Bandai fucked around with it. Supposedly they had the team re-arrange episodes air wise so that the cooler looking suits would be right up front, thus gaining quicker sales for the models. It didn't really matter though because they didn't sell the planned target number.

Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Episode 4: I continue to enjoy this series. I like the issues it deals with like keeping the organization open and how all the people work to help support their families. Mikazuki continues being intriguing I like how much he cares about the others that when they were in danger he went crazy against choking that one guy. Besides that, I also enjoyed him with Bernstein and how he's trying to show her exactly what was going on with their way of life. I like Orga has the leader of the Tekkadan especially just how he's running things and his spirit as a born leader. The Blue and Blonde hair guys are interesting from Gjallarhorn, I am intrigued to see how they develop. The character's are interesting and I am interested with where the storyline is going so I can't wait for more.

Yeah I don't really find his depression excuses him on Victory. He was severely depressed, the worst in his life in fact, when he made Zeta and it was a masterpeice. The characters deaths and darker tone can be attributed directly to that. Victory has those same elements, just with horribly one-dimensional and undeveloped characters.

There's no supposedly about it, episode "1" is actually episode 4. Bandai changed the airing order because they wanted the main suit to appear in the first episode. Which is absurd to do to a show mid-production but it happened.

The fact of the matter is that he was depressed when he made victory, he objected to the Sunrise/Bandai merger which infuriated him, and he actually hated the characters he created for this series. It's just dreadful for a number of reasons. I don't think it can all be lain at his feet, but a good chunk of the blame can fall on him.

Been thinking about picking up the Mobile Suit Gundam blu-rays coming out soon. Hopefully, they'll sell well enough so we can get more Gundam shows reprinted in the states. :)

Yeah, depression is no joke. I'm glad that he's recovered.

A whole bunch of others have already been confirmed. Sunrise are on a real drive to get much Gundam back out in the West as possible at the moment. Although they've said the focus is mainly on the UC stuff for the time being.

There's a ton more coming and there's even more not reprinted/ sold yet here. I do think we will get Blu-rays of shows we already have on DVD later on so buy that MSG!

I'm kinda broke right now and I am not a fan of MSG, but I am sure to buy a few of the 2016 sets.

Although I do hope that more shows become available on streaming at some point, since that's where the anime market is. Although I understand doing DVDs/BDs in the first place, to pay for production costs and Dubs directly.

Well, Bandai took down SEED Destiny HD for some random reason, which is a different 50 episode set, so OG Seed is as close as you're gonna get.

And that may very well may be true. For SEED. SEED is adequate, mediocre. It does exactly what it set out to do, which is a slightly different retelling of Mobile Suit Gundam.

Destiny though... You will rage. You will curse Fukuda until the day one of you dies. You will froth at the mouth at the name "Kira Yamato".

my suggestion involving seed: just watch Stargazer and Astray.

Seed Destiny's not that bad... for the first 12 episodes.

The only only thing I liked from Seed was Stargazer.

I saw this but didn't get to post ASAP. It's another One year war era story which i can't find anything about the plot outside of the initial summary on Gundam Wiki. Looking on other forums, the story revolves around Fedeartion and Zeon fighting over this sector of space with space colonies debris, high electric charges, and a Zeon supply route.

Despite the suits being in the One year war era, the MSes and Gundam designs look like Unicorn and 0079 had an awkward love child that had a hard-on for backpacks even more then the Cosmic Era.

So with this teaser being up, is it going to be what's on when IBO goes off the air? Is it going to be the new OVA series after The Origin?

He asked for it. No seriously, he wants to watch SEED Destiny of his own will.

Let's hope he doesn't get burned by Destiny too much so he can wash that shit out with a good gundam show.
