Yuki Yuna wa Yashu De Aru (aka Yuki Yuna is a Hero) Episode 2: Really really enjoying this Magical Girl anime right now. The four main characters are really solid right now and all are insanely enjoyable. This one dealt with Togo getting past her issues and transforming this episode. The four of them are awesome. A nice mix of seriousness and sillyness. I love the animation and the fight scenes in this too. I can see some references to other anime in this too but it's still very enjoyable right now. If you enjoy Magical Girl animes I highly recommend it.

Only 41 episodes of DBZ remain. I should be done by Tuesday at the latest.

I'm debating on if I am going to do that or not. I might just wait until I finish 291 before I watch the Vegeta brother special and rewatch BoG (although, this will be my first time watching BoG in Japanese).

I'm also debating on this. I had a hard time sitting through the first half of GT years ago, so I jumped into the Super 17 saga. That was decent, at least an improvement over the previous episodes I watched, but still not all that great. Then I watched the Dark Shenrons saga, which had some interesting ideas, but I felt like it was really degrading to Toriyama's characters. Gohan, 17, Goten, and Trunks are there in name only. Vegeta with a mustache was just ewwwwwwwwwwwwww.

However, this is the first time I've actually been able to watch the Dragon Ball franchise as a whole and in order, so I might just to complete it all.

Re-watching Lupin III Part III at the moment. I just finished the 8th episode titled "Clones Will Cost You."

It starts out with Lupin suffering from a nasty case of athlete's foot, which turns out to be part of a plot to clone him. A pretty strange episode but not as straight up bizarre as some other episodes in this series and in other installments in the Lupin III franchise.

I'm definitely watching Durarara!! x2 Shou and Aldnoah Zero 2. These are the anime that I am really hyped for, especially for Durarara for obvious reasons. However I'm definitely not watching Tokyo Ghoul since the anime didn't interest me and plus, I'm currently reading the manga. Lastly, I'm still on the first season of Log Horizon and on Episode 4 I believe, so watching the second season won't come until I finish that. :)

so, I think I remember seeing this forum talk about the Garo anime, and I found the first responses to the first episode were venomous.

I mean, I didn't think it was bad, although the most current episode really left you wanting to see more and the teaser trolling you was a bit much, I didn't think it was bad.

what does everyone think of it so far?

First few episodes were pretty bland yeah, but it's got progressively better each week. The last episode in particular is shaping the show up to be the most interesting instalment of the franchise narrative-wise.

I still need to finish the first half of Aldanoah Zero. I am getting tired of these multiple season shows. If it is going to be 26 episodes, just air the freaking 26 episodes in a row!!!!

I never made it past the first episode of teh Garo anime. I would rather watch Berserk and I have no intention of ever giving it a second shot, even if were the last anime ever made.

As you can see, I finished DBZ today. In fact, I watched the Vegeta special and Battle of Gods before I watched the final three episodes to the series.

In the long run, it is a great series, but it does have its ups and downs. I also have to say that I am not a fan of the ending. It is a good ending as it fits with Goku's character, but the way it is written makes Goku look like a total asshole. Also, there are a few continuity problems with the special and movie. First off, in the special, they talk about how Mr Satan is a big hero for defeating Boo, but Boo was erased from everyone's memories by the Dragon Balls, so how does that work? I did like that the villains Abo and Cabo are not some big bad ultimate power dudes. Finally, I never noticed this before in Battle of Gods, but it just doesn't work. They say Bulma is 38, but by my calculation, she has to be 44 or 45 (which also makes Mai having to be 46 or 47). Also, the movie has to take place 5 years after Boo was defeated, putting Goten at 12 and Trunks at 13, but neither of them look older than when they were 7 and 8. Not only that, but Mr Satan acts like he never knew Dende was Kami. Lastly, I want to say that my god, the new voices they got for Master Roshi, Gyumao, and Mr Satan suck compared to their old voices. They don't even sound like they are trying to sound like the characters they are portraying.

Glad to see enjoy Dragonball Z, it is still a fairly good series even to this day.

Lets hope you find something you enjoy in GT since blegh there are alot of issues with GT but then I would be repeating myself.

Yes, because it's a piece of cake for a studio to work on a 26 episode series when they may have more than one project going on at the same time. There a schedules to keep, so studios have to plan things out accordingly.

Plus it's a break between cours, who cares?

It's OK. I just get that question a lot, immediately followed by the asker saying FMAB is better.

THis isn't my first time watching the show... It is just my first time watching the series in order without any breaks. The original Dragon Ball was my first time though.

As for GT, I've seen episodes 1, 2, and then like 41-64 or something like that.

Studios didn't have a problem for the last 30+ years doing full series right from the get go. Why is it such a problem now?

I care because it disrupts the show's flow. Plus, having that extra 6 month break has not improved the endings to these shows. As such, what is the break for? The only shows that should have breaks are ones based on manga so that they don't have to deal with filler.

Its keep originality and creativity flowing. I know that sounds cliched and BS but think about it. Having an extra 6 months to plan the next 25 episodes or doing something else allows for fresh ideas and better management of a show's content. Or at least that's how it's supposed to work.

Space Dandy did not improve one bit having a break. In fact, if anything else, the break hurt the show more than it helped it.

The other problem is when these studios leave the first half off with such shitty results it makes me not to even want to bother with the second half when it does air. By the time it airs, I will have moved on to something superior that was good all of the way through and did not just give me the middle finger because it could.

Anyway, I decided to watch the first three episodes to GT since I had nothing else to do. Oh my god the pain, THE PAIN!!!! Three episodes in and they have already screwed up continuity. Not to mention the horrible designs that are Trunks and Vegeta. Who was the moron that thought making Vegeta look like Guile with a mustache was a good idea? Nevermind that Saiyans can never change their hair style as mentioned during the Cell saga. Or that it has been established that Bulma has other siblings. And suddenly the previous Kami being gone no longer wipes out his Dragon Balls. Oh, and I just love how Oob has already been written out of the show just like that. What an insult to Toriyama's ending. ARGH!!!!! The pain, the pain. Now I remember why I only watched certain pieces of this show.

many people don't like GT. especially Toriyama. who had no involvement with GT. and states it's non-canon.

and Uub is brought back in later. :P have some patience. it's only the first 3 episodes.

it also takes more time nowadays to make an anime than it used to. I don't mind six month breaks. hell, they give me more reason to try stuff out, and animation studios don't burn themselves out while making content. I'd rather they enjoy what they make.

Because the industry is WAY BIGGER THAN IT WAS 30+ YEARS AGO. Anime studios deal with a handful of productions every season now, let alone every year. Unless a studio is big enough to dedicate most of their time to one longer-running series at a time, like Toei, Sunrise or Kyoto Animation, then they need to plan around stuff. And even THEN larger studios can still split cours up for time. If a series can easily run two cours and you have other projects needing preparation, do one now and then have the second half under prep for a later season.

You do realize a good chunk anime, especially now, are based on manga and light novels. Even then, them being given breaks is fine as long as it avoids filler when other shows shouldn't, even if it might mean filler episodes to give time for story development?

On top of that this is no different from how TV here works. Seasons end with questions still unanswered, the next season comes out later on in the year. It's not like current Power Rangers where the season's cut off at a point that makes no sense. They end a half-season somewhere that either closes that main storyline and teases the next or leaves a cliffhanger of some sort to guarantee you'll be back for the next part. It's not the show's fault, if anything I think you're just really impatient.

Where are you pulling this from? Wishful thinking? In an official interview he stated that he was quite pleased with GT for what it is, a "side-story" to his own work. And he was involved with the show, he developed the base for the team to work on and he designed things like the ship and Giru.

Maybe that is why the anime coming out these days tends to have maybe one good series to be found out of 25 series. They are just crapping things out just to have something on TV.

What is a light novel? And I don't see there being any more shows based on manga than there were before. Before there was Dragon Ball, Yu Yu Hakusho, Inuyasha, Sailor Moon, Dr Slump, Yu-Gi-Oh!, etc. Today, there is One Piece, Bleach, Naruto, Fairy Tail, Attack on Titan, etc.

Yes, but that is why Japanese TV was always superior. They would air a series from start to finish, be done with the show forever, and move to the next. If I wanted it to be like American TV, I would watch American TV. This is Japan, they should be doing things the Japanese way, not the American way.

And yes, part of it is because I am impatient. Don't start me on a show if you are just going to leave it hanging there. That is also why I prefer to watch things on BD/DVD. There is no wait time. I can watch the whole thing in a few days/months depending on how long it is.


To be fair, Toriyama did come up with the show's name and I think he designed SS4 Goku. Oh, and he said he liked the idea Toei was going to do, but yeah, other than that, I believe he despises the show, he just isn't allowed to straight up say it.
