Casually watching Dekaranger. So far, okay.
|
Zyuranger-Already watched all the episodes before, just going through again so I can review them. Boy those first few episodes are still rocky to get through.
Bioman and Jetman- sporadically watching both of these. Bioman has grown on me after a rough start with really bad jump cuts, having an overall rushed feel, and overuse of stock footage way too early. Things seem to get better by around episode 7 I would say. As for Jetman I haven't really had any problems with it, kinda obvious why this is one of the more popular series. It has a pretty damn good start and unlike Zyuranger after it, doesn't suffer from way too much plot convenience early on. |
Actually, I made a list of Sentai shows I could watch or finish in the future:
-GoRanger -Liveman -Jetman -Timeranger -Dekaranger -Go-Busters -Kyoryuger |
So Convoy came over for the last few days and we finally watched Akibaranger. So far, we've made it through the first season and up to episode 9 of season 2 and I gotta say: It's awesome.
At first I was very sceptical, basically because I'm usually not very fond of parodies, but Akibaranger did an awesome job. You can feel how much the creator's enjoy the original and how they see Akiba both as a parody and a tribute. It's great that they use original songs and some of the original cast and staff members (Takaiwa-san <3) and I love the cast of Akiba, though imho, Luna is by far not as great as Mitsuki. Also, I love the outrageous power thing, it's so much fun to watch them meet their idols and then fight using their powers. I really hope there'll be another season sometime soon! |
A bunch more of the Liveman V2s finished - YAY - so episode eight it is.
I love these heroes, and I love the fluid way they develop them. Could you imagine what it'd be like if they made Rage Brain in the UK? We're the moaning capital of the world, but it's also from really ridiculous things. So it'll probably be way more powerful, but rather than destroying the Liveman it'll ruin their weekend by raining on them. :lol |
Now that Battle Fever J is subbed on Youtube, I started watching it, and i'm enjoying it so far. It's actually better than I expected, which i'm assuming has to do with the fact that it's before Sentai fell into a formula.

working through Goseiger, Goaranger, and Goranger (what I can find)
|
Liveman 09.
As far as generic stock episodes go, this really wasn't so bad although the way it ended was pretty messed up considering what happened in the episode. It doesn't do much for their characters, but shit really got real when Yusuke and Jo were taken over and this show usually raises above its clichés with such stylish set pieces. I also loved that music that plays when Mazenda sprays the perfume. Even if this episode undermined her character a little, because of course the girl villain must centre her experiments around perfumes, love and controlling men. What else would she be doing? *rolls eyes* |
Liveman 10.
Probably the worst episode so far, ridiculously contrived, poorly put together and Jo's actor clearly can't skateboard for shit. It's a shame too as when Maze Brain was in his humanoid form it was a pretty cool design. |
Started Gokaiger this morning because I woke up super early for some reason, and was bored. I love the suit designs and thought the anniversary stuff was cool, so i've been wanting to watch Gokaiger for a while. However, I kept telling myself that I should watch the past series before Gokaiger so I could fully appreciate the anniversary stuff. So I tried watching a few other series, and just found myself bored. 5 episodes into Battle Fever J (which I did enjoy so far) I started thinking that maybe I should just give up, since at the rate I was going i'd NEVER get to see Gokaiger (or ToQger, which i've been avoiding since I wanted to watch the series included in Gokaiger first).
So this morning, I was laying in my bed at 7 am, bored, thinking to myself "why don't I just start Gokaiger?" so I did, and i'm glad I did. 4 episodes in and i've been enjoying it so far. This is the first post-90s Sentai i've seen, so i'm enjoying the quicker pace (it's easier to stay interested) but I HATE the CGI. Part of what I like about Sentai (and Toku in general) is seeing the monster and mecha suits, so making half of the fights in CGI kinda defeats the purpose. I also kinda wish there were less Gokai changes. As much as I enjoy seeing all the past suits, I do really like the Gokaiger suits, and wish I could see them in action more. Wow, this ended up a lot longer than I thought.... TL;DR: Started Gokaiger after putting it off for a bit. Enjoying it so far, but I wish there was less CGI and more screen time for the actual Gokaiger suits. I'm just debating whether I should keep watching it again now...my girlfriend is asleep. |
I´ve not watched a super sentai for like 5 months... but megaranger looks promising out. But I had to wait for the exam to be over which is like 2 weeks, so I don´t have to be worried about that:D
But I've been wanting to watch Gokaiger for a really long time because I really want to see more of the past sentai before I went on to see Gokaiger!! |
I was watching Zyuranger, Carranger, and Go-Onger, but have been placing those on hold to watch Gingaman and Toqger.
Series I've finished: Jetman Megaranger GogoV Timeranger Magiranger Boukenger Shinkenger Gokaiger Gobusters Kyoryuger Bucket List: Dairanger Dekaranger Gekiranger Goseiger |
Here we Goseiger again 01. Moune's first haircut was wonderful.
This episode is a really strong introductory episode but most episodes of toku start with a bang. What I like is it pretty firmly establishes it isn't going to be exactly like the seasons that came before it, especially when it comes to Alata who is my all time favourite red but isn't your most obvious choice for that kind of character. Also didn't notice the emphasis on the wound the first time around, I love how even though Dereputa is a relatively short lived villain that first strike is called back to throughout the show. Shame it couldn't have been something more substantial, or at least birthed from a more epic moment. The introduction before the credits is extremely rushed given how important it is to the story overall. Even if the card gimmick thing is awkward and the computer generated effects are kinda dull, the action is incredibly flashy. I can't think of another sentai series where the suit actors had this much individual personality, especially GoseiBlack who I like more than Agri himself, who especially at the start of the series, is a bit of a dick. The monster designs are also great. This is the best Brajira will look for the whole series, with the final form being the only one that appeals to me in a way that even touches his Bladerun form. |
I watched the fourth episode of Toqger.
This episode made me like Tokatti and Mio. That ending was funny. :lol |
Wrote some long ass post about Goseiger 2 before Windows forced an update and stole everything but the TL;DR was basically "Agri is a dick but that is a really cool giant robot".

I (finally) got round to watching the Kyoryuger Musical Movie thing... it was strange, to say the least. Good, but strange. I feel that it need more time to explain where the hell Deathryuger came from (more than "He's the knight of ferocity, shut up"), who his servants were, and where the hell Utchi was for the first bloody half (although that was all forgiven when Pteragordon used his goggles. Which were awesome). Also (shipping ahoy) I feel Daigo should have got with what's-her-name... Mikoto, right... instead of Amy. That was so forced, it still hurts. But Tobaspino was cool. Makes me wish he had appeared more than twice in series with no explanation for where he went. Now, we wait for the subs for the Galaxy Line and World Cup Gaim! (And Kamen Rider Taisen, but I don't have high hopes for that)

For some hours ago I just finished the math exam which was a little hard but I survied that.
But now I finally has SUMMER VACTION!! Right now I am surfing through a Megaranger Marathron:D |
Picked up my Go-Busters rewatch again and as it stands now my original stance on the show hasnt really changed. I like the first 14 episodes or so even more than when it first aired but the rest is pretty much as I remembered it to be. Jin and J are great as are Ryuji and Enter. Hiromu is a decent red but nothing spectacular. Yoko and Escape are boring as hell though. The show doesnt really gain anything through there existence. Especiially Escape is a damn useless character all things considered. She is pretty to look at and has some cool fight scenes but beyond that she is just absolutely superfluous.
The Action and evetrything else the show has going on visually is still a blast to watch and probably the strongest aspect of the whole show. |
Here were Goseiger again 03.
Is it a prerequisite for Landics to be rude? I mean you can't pronounce it without "dick"... Oh well, this is the episode where we find out Moune has no hope as the star striker for the Gosei Girls Football team and I realised that the blend of black, white and gold for GoseiBlack makes for one of the most gorgeous sentai suits in recent times. The designs are so regal anyway, but the colours for Hyde make him look like he's a Dinner Suit but kicking bullets away and fighting with an axe like it's a dagger FUCK YEAH. It's funny how badass Hyde is in this show, considering on paper he should be the weakest. Not only does he not have a partner, but since he needs a body of water to utilise his abilities he doesn't have the same versatility as the others. I forgot how much individual identity the heroes had at the start, it's a shame a lot of this gets diluted when they become a team. After these early episodes the differences between them are only really brought up in specific moments. Still they have an unconventional team dynamic all the way through, at least. This weeks Warstar had a pretty cool design and he got an above average send off in the mech portion but the Henshin Hero action scenes were good if nothing spectacular. It isn't to say there weren't cool moments, but I just don't think Goseiger has particularly good effects. When it isn't looking dull, it just looks pretty cheap. |
Finished watching Megaranger in 5 days, I like it very much but I could not right understand how Dr heneler´s daugther was brought back from dead and helping him against the humainty, it was not explained very well:)
Was she a clone?? |
I am about to finish Goseiger and will probably rewatch Go-Busters again. I might also rewatch Gokaiger.
|
Been watching Power Rangers Time Force and some of Timeranger. I have to ask why does Gokai Silver's Zord look nothing like the Dragon Ranger's zord but more like the Q-Rex? Anyone know?
|
I somehow got through episode one of Zyuranger, now from my brain, all I need to watch now is Burai's episodes and introductions of episodes and the last few right?
|
So I just watched the Kyoryuuger DVD special thing, it was nice to see just a couple rangers this time around. Also the clear Purple battery has a purpose now.
|
Working on Maskman right now, and am really getting into it. I think I'm on 12, if I remember correctly. Still working on Bioman and Kakuranger when new episodes come out.
Edit - the next episode of Maskman for me will be 14. |
Still watching Go-Busters but I´m not getting very far right now :lol The Messiahroid Arc is just so damn boring. There are entertaining bits here and there but on a whole its just super uninteresting.

Although, that also means you miss out on really great episode such as the DorKnight one, DoraRadun, DoraGuzler, and several others that are really great. |
So I went to Burai's episodes. The fights were pretty good, though I guess that's because the suit actor became all but two of the main Hesei era riders, so I guess that's what'll keep my interest in Zyuranger.
|
Zyuranger in hindsight really is one of the lesser seasons. So much of it is filler which leaves you bored until a story pops up which then soon go away for more filler. The characters are pretty meh as well. The action both in the megazord and suit battles are great, but outside of that the only other thing of neatness to me is Bandora's nightly dancing moments.

Of fun note though, Geki's actor Yūta Mochizuki was also in Jetman as one of the Neo Jetman and also played the lead in Kamen Rider J.

Overall, he was pretty active in the late 80s and early 90s, both on stage and on screen. |

The same goes for the Showa era of Kamen Rider. The majority of these shows are filler with the main plot sprinkled throughout. However, unlike say TurboRanger, which is boredom on the extreme, ZyuRanger's filler episodes are fun and have great action scenes in them. Hell, DekaRanger was 100% filler. Now I do agree they really needed to develop Dan and Boi A LOT, as there is no reason a 50 episode series should be missing out on developing all of their characters, but that seems to be the Sentai way. They tend to develop only half of a team. |
Thinking of watching Fiveman because I never really went through the whole show in a while. For some reason I recently am liking the costume designs these days, and the robot designs are not that bad looking at it now so will post more and give my two cents on it whenever I can.
