I was hoping she'd be closer in size to a figma.

We'd known for some time she was going to be roughly the size of a 1/100 kit, which is cool with me, means she'll mostly fit in with my Gundam Girls Generations statues.

Also means it'll be easier to do Gundam musume kitbashes.

So is the blu-ray of the 1979 Gundam worth picking up? I like the original show on Toonami back in the day, but how good is the picture quality and sound?

On a related topic I got in my Gundam Origin II Limited blu-ray and damn is that a nice set. Origin 1 came with a small storyboard & settings art book and the movie. That was about it. This one comes with a watercolor art print of the limited edition cover, a 10 page character & landscape art book with an actual animation cel in it, another storyboard book, the movie itself, and another 32 page text book with additional background info. It's incredible.

This week's episode of IBO was pretty good. I was wondering where the story was gonna go after they got to space, but they're gonna need a guide to Earth, so there's gonna be a brief detour. One of the big things about this episode that was revealed was that Jupiter is also colonize and an important factor in this universe. I only thought it had only been Earth and Mars and some colonies inbetween. Makes me wonder what kinds of suits we are going to see on Jupiter, a Gundam frame maybe?

Another interesting thing is that a lot of the kids can't read or write and they have Auto Vinjana systems. You'd think 300 some odd years after the last space war would show some quality of life improvements. I also sense some further character development between Mika and Kudelia because of this, as I can't really think of much more of a thing for them to bond over now that's Kudelia has been around the conditions of Tekkadan for awhile.

I'm confused as if whether McGillis and Gaelio are chasing Tekkadan right now or not. They say they are, but they're still in the space station, so is the station just following them?

We're only 6 episodes in an Kudelia is doing so much more than Reelena in all of Wing.

Even though I love wing I have to agree on that I think BIO might replace wing as my fave season

The main difference between Reelina and Kudeli is that Reelena was more or less thrown into her role where as Kudeli decided herself to champion the Mars independence cause. IBO is already my top gundam series of the last 2-3 years.

The other difference is that Kudelia is actually eager to help and get involved with Tekkadan in anyway she can right from the very beginning. I don't really recall Reelina doing anything other than being the damsel that needs saving.

It's my second favorite as of right now. The show is great but there's nothing about it that would want me to put it above 00, my favorite, which had very fantastic unique things for me. But yeah, when you ave G-reco and AGE to compete with, IBO kinda by default is a lot of people's favorite Gundam show.

Because the other Gundam anime exist inside the Build Fighters universe.

I don't know why RD always releases the craziest SEED variants out there, but I hope they never stop.

Those two are among my favrioute of the variants too, and it's a shame that model kits of them aren't easy to come by...

It doesn't have the same tone/focus as the mainline gundam series of being dark, being set in a war, the repurcussions that come of it, very cereberal and intense discussions about himanity, the nature of war, possibility, e.t.c.

I think you can just tell the difference by watching something like Unicorn compared to BF. Do they both have mech fights? Yeah. But the stories, emotional centers and dialouge content are completley different.

And yes, G Gundam is different, but I haven't seen it so I don't know how to classify it.

With such a large portion of Gundam shows being AU with vastly different takes on the original idea, the line between main and spin-off gets blurred too easily.
I think classifying stuff like BF or Sangokuden as main or spin-off is just a matter of personal preference.

G Gundam can only be classified as awesome.

The problem is that most Gundam shows have a different tone/focus from each other because they're Alternate Universes about the only thing they share in common is their theme of "war is bad" and a red,white and blue main mecha. The only Gundam shows I'd consider "Dark" are Zeta and Victory. Neither Zeta,Wing or 00 was set in a war. Only Zeta and Victory had immediate lasting repercussions from their respective series conflicts*most of the cast dying and two suffering major brain damage* 00 season 1 would qualify if season 2 didn't have Celestial Being fixing everything and riding off into the sunset. Half the time though that comes off as forced*because our bright robot toy commercial must be taken seriously let's add philosophy...now watch as pseudo-science green space magic and aliens create world peace!* or the one-sided ravings of a madman with a superiority complex*cough*Char*cough*.

I can say the same about 0079 or Wing in comparison to Unicorn largely because Unicorn has a more serious tone than the former.

Personally my definition is a lot stricter unless specifically stated as a spin-off if it has a full 25+ episode season and a toyline it's a "main" series in my eyes.

So there was an ANN podcast over this weekend with the CEO of Right Stuf and it revealed some interesting things. He said Wing is a bit far out from coming out but it will have a blu-ray release. The CEO also mentioned that Turn A and MSG did better then expected.

So yeah. Get excited.

I'll be excited when X gets a release date and we get DVDs or blu-rays for G Gundam and 8th MS Team. Wonder if they'll do the movies too. A blu-ray of F91 would be incredible.

I agree on F91, even if people don't like it, the art itself looks pretty amazing, mind you, this was only two years after Char's Counterattack.

F91 is downright gorgeous, that release would be amazing.

It seems like Rightstuf is able to release the series that were already out here on DVD on BD while the ones that weren't are DVD only. Weird.

I think releasing stuff on Blu-ray for the released shows has either just been coincidence so far, or they want to give fans a new way to consume stuff that has already been out.

I did not know that ocean production did not dub the 0079 movie trilogy was going to watch dubbed until I heard how horrible dub was

The only good thing from the ocean dub that I've heard is Steve Blum as Char.
